Abstract:Chord is a common circular P2P model with high routing efficiency and stable data inquiring. This paper proposes the Hot-Chord algorithm according to the fact that hot resources have occupied the majority of searching in the P2P system. Hot-Chord algorithm constructs an inner chord dynamically by using the nodes which hot resources is locating, to decrease the inquiring space; Nodes join or leave the inner chord adaptively according to the variation of resources searching rate. On the basis of theoretical analysis and experimental simulation, this paper certifies that the Hot-Chord algorithm has not only the better searching efficiency in hot resources inquiring but also the lower the average number of hops in finding resources than the original Chord and some improved algorithms. © 2010 IEEE.

Abstract:Empirical studies have shown that participating nodes in peer-to-peer (P2P) systems are not equivalent. Some nodes, known as “super peers”, are more powerful and stable than the others. Such heterogeneity has been taken into account in the design of P2P systems in two ways: by employing super peers to serve as index servers for query, and by routing through super peers to speed up query. In this paper, we use super peers to reduce maintenance cost in Chord—a DHT network which, like other DHT-based systems, is often praised for its guaranteed search feature but has relatively higher maintenance overhead than Gnutella-like unstructured P2P networks.

Abstract:In structured peer-to-peer network,how to find resources effectively is a key issue.Chord is a typical structured peerto-peer network model,it provides an efficient routing algorithm,however,it has low search efficiency because the limited information in routing table.A-Chord algorithm which based on Chord is proposed in this paper.A-Chord uses a new way to improve the routing table structure and modify the mechanism to find resources in Chord.Both the theoretical and experimental results show that A-Chord can reduce the average lookup path length to O(log5N) and improve the efficiency of resource discovery.

Abstract:Due to minimum consideration of an actual network topology, the existing peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay networks, such as CAN, Chord, Pastry and Tapestry, will lead to high latency and low efficiency. In TaChord, a topology-aware routing approach in P2P overlays and an improved design in Chord are presented. TaChord and other algorithms are evaluated by physical hops, interdomain-adjusted latency, and aggregate bandwidth used per message. Experimental results demonstrate that TaChord has the drastic improvement in routing performance where average physical hop is half that of chord, and the impact of cache management strategies in the TaChord overlay cannot be neglected.

Abstract:Peer-to-peer systems are distinguished from traditional distributed systems in that nodes join and leave the P2P system at high rates, called churn problem. The past experimental study on churn of P2P systems has been analyzed and some theoretical analysis has been discussed on the probability distribution of node session time. SChord is a peer-to-peer system based on such analysis to handle churn. SChord is constructed based on Chord, which can distinguish nodes of long session time from other P2P nodes and exploit these long session nodes with its special routing algorithm. The simulation shows that SChord has achieved better performance to handle churn than Chord.

Abstract:With the increasingly developed technology of mobile devices and wireless networks, more and more users share resources by mobile devices via wireless networks. Compared to traditional C/S architecture, P2P network is more appropriate for mobile computing environment. However, all existing P2P protocols have not well considered the characteristics and constraints of mobile devices and wireless networks. In this paper, we will present a novel mobile P2P protocol, M-Chord, by adopting hierarchical structure and registering mechanism on the basis of Chord. The experimental results show that M-Chord system has high-efficiency and good robustness in mobile P2P network.

Abstract:Routing efficiency is the critical issue when constructing peer-to-peer overlay. However, chord has often been criticized on its careless of routing locality. A peer-to-peer overlay, called PChord is illustrated in this paper which focuses on achieving better routing efficiency. Abstract:Locating content efficiently and conveniently is the key issue in P2P systems. In this paper we present SemanticPeer, an Ontology-Based P2P lookup service, to address this problem, which is an extension of Chord protocol. In SemanticPeer, one can easily locate desired data items using the domain knowledge, beyond the keywords scheme. By the separate of share knowledge and private knowledge, SemanticPeer provides a high degree of node autonomy. SemanticPeer clusters the documents according to the domain knowledge, so we can answer a query with a specified characteristic efficiently.

Abstract:In P2P (Peer-to-Peer) systems, it's a hot point to locate the node that stores the desired data item efficiently. To address the problem, several research groups independently proposed structured P2P systems based on DHT (distributed hash table), which include Chord, CAN, Pastry and Tapestry. But all of these systems didn't take into account the different resource of nodes such as bandwidth and CPU processing data ability. This paper proposed a 2-layer structured P2P model taking into account resource of nodes and physical network topology based on IPv6. The main idea of this method is to separate the p2p network into several domains and use domain representative nodes to reduce communication probability between two low-resource nodes from different domains. Simulation results show that this method can reduce the query delay and improve the performance well.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a low latency routing algorithm for structured peer-to-peer network. The LLCHORD(A Low Latency Chord Routing Algorithm for Distributed Hash Tables) protocol is used in the routing query message to the destination. Previous proocol, such as Chord, already provides a scalable query latency of O(log(N)) where N is the number of nodes in peer-to-peer network. But the latency of the each hop is omitted in the analysis of the routing performance. In LLCHORD protocol, while retain the O(log(N)) routing latency, the routing is aimed at reduce the cost of each hop. At this way, the LLCHORD routing performance of LLCHORD protocol is better than Chord. In LLCHORD protocol, the cost of the each step to the destination node is reduced. Unlike the general Chord protocol, the next hop of the query message can be in the clockwise and counter clockwise side of the destination. In this way, the closing up process to the destination key is in dual directions.

Abstract:In order to achieve the access of massive high-dimensional data on P2P network efficiently, we present a distributed similarity retrieval system named R-Chord using modified iDistance based on Relative Position Code (RPCID). RPCID calculates the lower bound distance between the query point and the data point using Relative Position Code (RPC). RPC is a data object encoding method based on spatial location information. A RPC area can be discarded when the lower bound distance is greater than the pruning distance. Experimental results show that RPCID can achieve better time performance and resource consumption than iDistance.

Abstract:PRST-Chord(proximity routing selection and topology-based Chord) is proposed to address the problem that the overlay network in Chord protocol is incongruent with the underlying network topology.The improved algorithm decreases the incompatibility between the logical and physical network by constructing the node identifiers based on the topology of physical network.Meanwhile,the method revises the lookup algorithm by predicting the latency between two nodes to optimize the next hop routing.The simulation results show that this approach can effectively lower the lookup latency and improve the performance of resource locating.

Abstract:In the semi-structured Chord(S-Chord), every node maintains two static neighbors and O(logN) dynamic neighbors, which can guarantee network connectivity and improve the success rate of fuzzy lookup. It can effectively reduce the average lookup length and improve transmission performance by adjusting dynamic neighbors and optimizing forward routes according to current traffic of network. The simulation results show that the semi-structured Chord can get higher lookup success rate with shorter average lookup length, and lower fuzzy lookup workload of network, so it can better support large-scale overlay service.

Abstract:Current P2P algorithms almost use the random method to choose the neighbor peers, which will cause many problems such as the low efficiency routing and the high network delay. We propose an improved Chord algorithm base on standard Chord algorithm. The new algorithm introduces the delay and the bandwidth factors to the logic location course of new peer joining Chord ring. It also utilize the Global Network Position to calculate the geographic distance among peers, which make the logic position of every peer accord to its geographic position, and make every peer always select the nearest peers as its neighbor, so as to decrease the network delay and promote the routing efficiency. The experiment results show that our algorithm indeed decreases network delay, promote routing efficiency and even accelerate downloading of resources. ©2009 IEEE.

Abstract:Integrated satellite-terrestrial (IST) networks will play a promising role in future peer-to-peer (P2P) distribution by bridging multiple isolated P2P sub-networks to provide real-time cross-regional file access in certain scenarios. However, due to the periodic orbital movements of satellites, highly time-varying visibility among peer nodes in IST networks imposes significant challenge on file lookup and retrieval, which is difficult to be solved with current methods in terrestrial P2P networks. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a contact-aware dual-layer Chord (DL-Chord) lookup mechanism for P2P-based IST networks by carefully considering link contacts among satellites and terrestrial P2P nodes. In the proposed DL-Chord mechanism, we develop a group of novel algorithms, comprising an orbital parameter-based dual-layer identification mapping scheme, a contact-based dual-layer finger table, an efficient file lookup algorithm, and a node updating scheme. Furthermore, a theoretical analysis is conducted based on the visibility of satellite constellations to evaluate the lookup performance of the proposed DL-Chord mechanism, i.e., average lookup delay (ALD) and average lookup rounds (ALR). Simulation results verify that the proposed mechanism achieves better efficiency in terms of ALD and ALR with a lower update cost than other similar schemes, i.e., the stochastic mapping-based original chord ring scheme (ORCO) and physical location-aware mapping-based wireless location-aware scheme (WILCO).
