Abstract:In India, around 40-50% of advertisements during children's programmes are for junk foods (high in fat, salt and sugar content). It is estimated that children are spending more time in front of a screen. This study aimed to investigate the Impact of Media on Food Preferences and Nutritional Status of School Children aged 7-9 years in Hyderabad, Telangana. Asample 150 school children (81 boys and 69 girls) was randomly selected, and non-experimental research was conducted through a descriptive survey using ofine questionnaires. It was included with questions regarding general information, anthropometry, past medical history, television viewing pattern, dietary habits, food frequency questionnaire, and rating scale for hunger and satiety. The ndings were revealed that most of boys were normal weight category, while girls tended to be overweight, when plotted on WHO growth charts. Television viewing pattern showed that 48% of children watched for 1-2 hours, 24.7% for 3-4 hours, 18% for 5-6 hours and 9.3% for more than 6 hours daily. Past medical history of subjects showed that 23% were suffering from dental diseases (80%- dental cavities, 17.1% - tooth ache, 2.9%-bleeding gums), 4% were suffering from ocular disease (eye sight). There was statistically insignicant difference between the mean impact of media and dietary preference of children (p*=0.29(>0.05). Statistical analysis revealed that a weak correlation between Impact of Media and Dietary preferences (+0.33). A strong correlation was observed between the Impact of media and past medical history (dental diseases and ocular diseases) (+0.86). Thus, this study reinforces the importance to educate children and parents regarding healthy eating habits and to control children's television viewing patterns and timings for better food choices and future circumstances.

Abstract:The purpose of the study is to comprehend the perceptions of young people regarding the images, roles and to know the changing trends regarding women and men's portrayal in various advertisements in Mathura region. This study's novelty lies in shedding light on the impact of culturally bounded aspects of advertising and perception of youth in Mathura. It also aims to highlight shifts in youth perceptions before and after exposure to these ads, urging advertisers to promote gender equality and reflect societal realities more accurately. The study was conducted with the school students in Mathura based on gender, age, and interests, Uttar Pradesh, India, to find their perceptions and opinions regarding the roles, trends and depictions of males and females in advertisements on television. This exploration is facilitated through a semi-structured questionnaire and a knowledge inventory test. The age of the young audience preferred for the study is between 15-19 years. To understand that what youth knows about the gender roles while watching ads on television and what are their perceptions on the images, roles and portrayals of women and men in the Indian television ads. The study initially collected data on viewers' perceptions of gender roles in selected Indian TV ads during prime time (8-9 pm). Two channels with the highest TRP were chosen, and six frequently aired ads were selected. A sample of 40 respondents, evenly split between genders aged 15-19, underwent a knowledge inventory test. Findings revealed stereotypical portrayals, with women mostly depicted in domestic roles and highly objectified. Men were shown as breadwinners and occasionally in domestic settings. This study also offers new critical insights into advertising that still employs gender stereotypes, such as gender roles mainly associated with men, implying that empowered women must behave like men.

The research design adopted was One Group Pre-test & Post-test design. The study had been conducted in selected hospital at Rajkot. Non probability sampling technique had been adopted to select the desired samples. The sample size was 40. As a part of intervention, a video assisted teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention and management of varicose vein was provided to staff Nurses working in Critical Care Unit for 30 minutes and the data was collected by structured interview with set of questionnaires that is administered to assess the level of knowledge regarding prevention and management of varicose vein among staff Nurses working in Critical Care Unit. The data were analysed by using both descriptive and inferential statistical method paired “t” test was used to evaluating the effectiveness of video Assisted teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention. The obtained value 8.262, which shows highly significant at the level of p<0.05. There is significant association between demographic variables such as Gender, Marital status and weight with pretest level of knowledge on prevention and management of varicose vein. The study concluded that the video assisted teaching programme was effectiveness in improving of knowledge regarding prevention and management of varicose vein.

Abstract:Scholars have extensively studied the effectiveness of different health communication strategies employed by television networks in disseminating disease prevention information. These strategies include health campaigns, public service announcements, and educational programming aimed at raising awareness about infectious diseases and promoting preventive behaviors. Understanding how audiences perceive and engage with health messages broadcasted by the media is crucial for evaluating the impact of disease prevention efforts. This study sought to evaluate the role of media in disease prevention in Uganda using NBS Television as a case study. A cross-sectional survey design was utilized to collect data from a sample of viewers who have been exposed to televised health messages. The total sample size was 85 respondents. Data was collected through structured questionnaires administered to the selected study participants. Quantitative data collected from the surveys were analyzed using statistical software such as MS Excel. Descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations, were used to summarize demographic characteristics, audience exposure to health programming, and responses to survey items. The study found that respondents had varying knowledge about disease prevention measures, with gaps in understanding vaccination schedules, early warning signs, and nutrition’s role. However, they generally held positive attitudes towards disease prevention, believing in its importance for overall health and trusting health information from television programs. They expressed motivation to adopt preventive behaviors and confidence in their ability to maintain positive changes. The findings underscore the potential of televised health communication initiatives in shaping attitudes and behaviors related to disease prevention, emphasizing the role of television in promoting public health awareness. Abstract:Introduction: Interventions that try to alter behaviour in order to promote health and disease management are typically time and resource-consuming. At the moment, boosting maternal and child nutrition is the main focus of nutrition programs in India. This paper discusses the most effective methods to change eating habits, hygiene, and sanitisation particularly the significance of contemporary Information Technology (IT) in health education. Aim: To determine the pre education knowledge level and create awareness regarding maternal nutrition, hygiene and sanitation through the developed education video on personal hygiene and sanitation among maternal-aged group women. Materials and Methods: The community-based prospective interventional study was conducted from October 2019 to April 2021 by using the prospective intervention study design. Based on the Socio-demographic profile, anthropometric measurement, and clinical assessment, specific questions regarding dietary knowledge and personal hygiene were recorded by using the questionnaire. By using the recorded data through a questionnaire, 100 respondents were selected through stratified random sampling and divided into the control group (n=50) and experimental group (n=50) involved in the intervention study. The experimental group which consisted of 50 respondents was grouped into two groups E1 (n=25) and E2 (n=25) and educated separately (due to COVID-19 restriction on mass gatherings) three times a month at 15 days intervals. The nutrition education intervention was given through an educational video in the Hindi language. The effects of the intervention were studied among the participants of the experimental group. The control group did not receive any nutritional awareness sessions. Knowledge level before and after the education intervention was recorded by using the self-structured questionnaire consisting of 15 multiple questions. The data was analysed by using Analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique. Results: Analysis was done for the complete data collected from 100 participants (15-35 years of age, 50 in each control and experimental group) included in the present study. The mean age of maternal age group women was 22 years. No significant difference was found between the knowledge of the control and experimental group at baseline (p-value >0.05). However, the post-intervention, there was significant gain in knowledge in the experimental group (p-value <0.001). Conclusion: It was found that providing the nutrition education through the developed information and communication technology proved effective by increasing knowledge level among the maternal aged group women.

Abstract:Quality media has the potential to have a profound effect on everyone’s mind, including women entrepreneurs. Her IQ is shaped in many ways: by genes, environment, upbringing, unities for formal and informal education, and culture. For decades, there have been many motivating and learning TV shows; however, some shows still have no effect or adverse effects irrespective of age group. Hence researchers have devised several exciting methods to disentangle TV's effects keeping good programs. This article aims to assess the perception of women entrepreneurs about the 6 significant types of TV latest shows starting from 0-2 ratings (low, medium, and high quality). Jamovi software, the 2.3.21 version, was applied for statistical analysis. The study found the Cronbach alpha 0.65, which is good enough to justify the reliability and scale reliability with a mean value of 1.32 and a standard definition of 0.409. Six Items-rest correlation, Correlation Heatmap, and Binomial Test (95% Confidence Interval) of all six items as top media category used for perception analysis. The study concluded that even in the world of entrepreneurship and big business, women now have just as much of a chance as males. They organize and participate in stimulating, upbeat, and inspiring endeavors during their free time via online platforms and mainstream media. As per this study, the women urban population primarily watches shows that entertain their minds or link with other attractive aspects. However, they also worry about their well-being and the well-being of their husbands and offspring, which means that business, education, sports, and health are high priorities.

Abstract:This study examined the impact of a health promoting television program series on health knowledge and the key factors of the health belief model (HBM) that have led people to engage in healthy behavior (exercising, losing weight, changing eating habits, and not smoking/quitting smoking). Using data from a posttest comparison field study with 15) viewers and 146 nonviewers in Poland, we found that hierarchical regression analysis showed stronger support for the HBM factors of efficacy, susceptibility, seriousness, and salience in their contribution toward health behavior among television viewers compared with nonviewers. Cues to action variables (including television viewing) and health knowledge boosted efficacy among viewers. Without the advantage of receiving health information from the television series, nonviewers relied on their basic disease fears on one hand, and interest in good health on the other to take steps toward becoming healthier. A health promoting television series can increase health knowledge and enhance health beliefs, which in turn contribute to healthy behaviors.

Abstract:Today's Children will be tomorrow's responsible citizen of the country. Entertainment is an essential part of life, by this we feel tension free, relaxed, energetic and having a positive attitude towards life. Games plays an important role for the all round development of the children's personality especially outdoor games but Now a days children are adopting habits of playing indoor games and also entertaining themselves by using various electronic devices as we know one of them is television. There are various programmes such as various kids’ channels, cartoon shows, video games etc. being watched by the children. Directly or indirectly these programs affect behaviour of the children in positive and negative ways. That’s why it is needed that parents should have a look for types of programmes seen by children, how long a child is watching a program, how it is affecting child habits/ behaviour etc. Later on, these negative impacts will create health issues/behaviour problems such as obesity, aggressive behaviour, lack of concentration etc. Child who watch television for 10 hours or more per week are less skilled at reading and are less successful in school as compared to children who watch television for less than 10 hours per week. The American academy of paediatrics makes the following recommendations regarding television viewing should not exceed one to two hours of quality programming daily and children younger than two years old should not watch television.1 That is why researchers took this topic to highlight the attitude and knowledge of parents about the impact of television on their Children's behaviour. A co-relational study conducted to assess parental knowledge and attitude regarding the impact of television on children in selected area at Kanpur (U.P). A descriptive cross-sectional survey approach was used, sample size was 100 parents selected by convenient sampling for this study. Self-structured knowledge questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of parents, and attitude of parents was assessed by Likert scale. The study shows that among 100 parents 8% of them had poor knowledge, 36% average knowledge, 50% good knowledge, 6% very good knowledge about impact of television on children. The study shown the positive attitude 84%, negative attitude 16% on impact of television on children. The correlation value shows that positive correlation between knowledge and attitude score of parents. There was no significant association between knowledge score with their demographic variables and significant association seen between attitude score with types of family, educational status of parents, income of parents and number of children. Abstract:To examine the purpose of social media among students and teachers, to evaluate the impact of social media on learning of medical education and to asses that how social media could be used more effectively for learning purpose. Result: The result displayed that the most used application by anyone is Facebook (54%) followed by WhatsApp (31%), Instagram (11%) and YouTube(4%). These young doctors although were connected with the social media; however, it had a bad influence on their physical and mental health (n= 20). The results indicate that the usage of social media often is not considered as a positive way to engage in spending their time (n= 14) while it was satisfactorily for some (n=9) and anexcellent way to learn for other (n=6). Nevertheless, there was no significant evidence observed as per the hypothesis (p > 0.05)

Abstract:Purpose: The rapid expansion of social media platforms has significantly transformed communication patterns and information access. This study examines the role of social media in sharing health-related content among Indian users, evaluating its trust, influence, and impact. Methodology: A questionnaire survey was conducted among 100 people using SPSS v24, G-power, and literature reviews. Statistical methods assessed reliability, trust, influencing behaviour, and impact perspectives. A model was developed using SPSS 21 AMOS software. Findings: This study examines the transformative potential of social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram for health-oriented information dissemination. It found a significant association between gender and the use of social media for medical information, with independent variables including reliability and Trust, Influence and Behaviour Impact and perspective, and positive impact. The value of ANOVA in the regression model was 0.00, indicating a better fit for the regression model. Practical Implication: The effectiveness of tools in decision-making is crucial for organisations like fitness clubs, gyms, and yoga centres to boost publicity, increase consumer base, and achieve higher revenues, while general people can find trustworthy healthcare information platforms.

Abstract:The present study was carried out to find out the awareness of mother related to breast feeding technique. Breastfeeding is the ideal method suited for the psychological and physiological needs of children. Most of the mothers don't know the correct technique of breast feeding. This leads to many unnoticed and biased problems in babies and lactating mothers. These include improper nutrition to baby, altered growth, Oral thrush, low secretion of milk, inadequate feeds, nipple problems etc. There are few simple ways to practice the art of breast feeding techniques like starting breast feeding immediately after birth, proper positions, latching up and burping up the baby. Minor problems may occur during breast-feeding. But with proper planning, knowledge, and support, mothers can overcome these challenges and continue breast-feeding. Before the baby is born, attending classes, reading books, and watching videos that demonstrate breast-feeding techniques will help the mothers in promoting breast feeding practice. Materials and Methods: An experimental study with one group pre-test post test design, an evaluator research approach was used to find out the effectiveness of video assisted teaching on mothers knowledge regarding correct position and breast feeding technique. The sample consist of 60 mothers who were admitting in SAIMS Hospital, Indore city. The samples were chosen by convenient purposive sampling technique. The data was collected prior and after the structured teaching programme by a structured questionnaire. The data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The knowledge gained through video assisted teaching was found to be highly effective in gaining knowledge. The t- value found to be 28.9with standard error 0.271. The mean pre test 4.75 and post mean test 12.62. The demographic variable such as age, educational status, job, source of information and nutritional status found to be significant. The video assisted teaching programme was found to be effective in teaching the primigravida mother about the breast feeding technique, it found to be effective for mothers. It was well appreciated and accepted by the mother. The more researches on failure to thrive will find better outcome for obstetrics and gynaecology department.

Abstract:In todays ultra-modern age the medium of an entertainment have been changed. Television has become one of the major medium of an entertainment since last thirty years. After the adoption of the policy of globalization and liberalization from 1992, hundreds of TV channels were emerged. It was an era of the emergence of daily soaps. In fact it was the prominent mode of an entertainment. We can say that television serials have laid significant impact on the socio-cultural scenario of our country. Among the vogue of several serials, particularly Marathi serials have become popular among the Marathi viewers throughout the world. In these serials we can notice the stereotype presentation of the women characters. The prime object of the research paper is to explore the presentation of the women characters through Marathi serials as an object of subjugation. It can be observed in so many Marathi serials. Rather such types of Marathi serials provokes for exploitation of the women in society.

Abstract:Background: Most of the morbidities among school children are preventable by ensuring healthy practices regarding personal hygiene and diet. The current study aimed to assess effectiveness of a health education programme regarding personal hygiene and diet in improving the morbidity profile of the adolescent girls in an urban slum. Methods: A quasi experimental study was conducted in two Government secondary schools located in a slum area of Kolkata. The study consisted of three steps. First a baseline survey with the help of a predesigned pretested questionnaire and checklist was done to find out the socio-demographic information and existing knowledge, attitude, practice of personal hygiene and dietary habits of the students. Morbidity profile of the children was also assessed. This was followed by an intervention phase of 6 months during which weekly lecture and demonstration classes were taken in the study school. Second step was reassessment of morbidities by clinical examination at post intervention. Third step was to follow them for another 3 months to reassess their morbidities. Results: There was statistically significant decrease in the prevalence of morbidities in study school from the pre-test level to post-test level as compared to the control school, but the effect was not sustained at follow up as shown by increase in mean morbidity score at 9 months follow up than 6 months post-intervention level in the study school. Conclusions: Sustained behavioral change programme regarding proper practice of personal hygiene and diet could significantly decrease the prevalence of major morbidities encountered in adolescent girl students.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to investigate if women's exposure to mass media, i.e. television, radio, and print media, is a determinant of female empowerment in India. Indicators of empowerment include female autonomy in domestic decision-making, freedom of movement, financial knowledge and independence, attitudes regarding acceptability of violence against women, actual and desired fertility and use and decisions about contraception. Data for the analysis come from two rounds of the National Family and Health Survey, a large-scale nationally representative household survey. First, ordinary least squares estimation is used to obtain the parameter estimates. To overcome endogeneity concerns, instrumental variables estimation is also used. The results reveal a strong positive effect of exposure to mass media on women's status in India. These findings highlight the effectiveness of mass media in influencing women positively. This paper captures the cumulative effects of three types of media: television, radio and print media. It also takes advantage of the most recent data available together with using instrumental variables estimation to overcome endogeneity concerns.

Abstract:Good health is central to human happiness and well-being that contributes significantly to prosperity and wealth and even economic progress, as healthy populations are more productive, save more and live longer. Telemedicine is the exchange of medical information from one location to another using electronic communication, which improves patient health status. Telemedicine has multiple applications and can be used for different services, which includes wireless tools, email, two-way video, smartphones, and other methods of telecommunications technology. A telemedicine appointment is just like a regular appointment. You will sit in front of a camera where you will be able to see yourself and your health care provider on the screen once your session begins. These appointments are also called virtual visits. Beginning more than 40 years ago with hospitals extending their services to patients in remote locations rapidly and has become an integrated part of specialty departments, hospitals, private doctor offices, home health care, and the consumer’s residence and workplace. Objective: To assess the pretest and posttest knowledge of student nurses regarding telemedicine. To assess the effectiveness of planned teaching program on knowledge regarding telemedicine. To find the association between knowledge of students regarding telemedicine with selected demographic variables. Hypothesis H0: There will be no change in knowledge of the students in relation to telemedicine. H01: There will be no association between the knowledge score with selected demographic variables in relation to telemedicine. Research Methodology A descriptive, evaluative approach was used. The data gathering process begin on 1st January to 31st January. The investigator selects the nursing college and obtained the permission from the college authorities to conduct the study. The investigator selects the nursing students of 2nd year basic BSc nursing and talked with them. The investigator introduced self and briefly explained about the study, its purposes and process. There by a rapport was developed with the nursing students and a brief assessment was done to confirm whether they fulfil the inclusion and exclusion criteria selected for the study. The content of the consent form was explained. The investigator gave multiple choice questionnaires to nursing students to assess their knowledge regarding telemedicine. The instructions were given to read the options carefully and marked the circle at appropriate answer. Then after this planned teaching is given to them. 7 days’ time was given to go through the teaching plan and clarified the doubts. Then the post test was done. Major Finding of The Study Sample characteristics 1. Majority of the student with telemedicine were in the age group of 19-20. 2. Majority of the student’s average knowledge (43.3%) good (0%) and poor knowledge(56.6%)and (0%) having excellent knowledge. Knowledge on telemedicine 1. Majority of the nursing students were not aware about the telemedicine as they scored below 50% in the pre-test. 2. Most of the students scored above 50% in the post-test which shows the planned teaching was effective. Effects of Planned Teaching on Knowledge 1. The mean pre-test and post-test knowledge score were 25% in pre-test and 75% in post-test respectively. 2. The calculated ‘t’ value (16.96) was greater than the table value of 2.05 which suggest that the planned teaching was effective in increasing the overall knowledge of the sample. 3. Hence the research hypothesis was accepted showing that there is significant difference between the mean pre-test and post-test knowledge score of the subjects.

Abstract:Tobacco chewing remains a prevalent health issue globally, particularly in India, where it is deeply ingrained in cultural practices. This study evaluates the impact of a structured teaching program on knowledge regarding the ill effects of tobacco chewing among adults enrolled in arts and commerce colleges in Patan, India. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with 100 participants recruited from arts and commerce colleges. The structured teaching program included educational sessions covering the harmful effects of tobacco chewing and cessation strategies. Pre and post-test knowledge assessments were conducted using a self-structured questionnaire. The majority of participants were aged 15-17 years (75%), male (75%), and from urban areas (58.33%). Significant improvements in knowledge scores were observed following the intervention (pretest mean score = 11.5, posttest mean score = 44.38), with a significant difference between pre and post-test scores (t = 11.38, p < 0.001). Associations between pre-test knowledge scores and demographic variables such as gender, education, type of family, area of residence, father's education and occupation, monthly income, history of illness, and previous knowledge were identified (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The study underscores the significance of targeted health education programs in addressing tobacco-related health risks and promoting public health. By enhancing awareness and knowledge among adults, such interventions contribute to fostering behavior change and reducing the burden of tobacco-related diseases.
