Enhanced personalized recommendation system for machine learning public datasets: generalized modeling, simulation, significant results and analysis

Abstract:Nowadays, e-learning, an intelligent learning system based on the formal teaching methodology but with some electronic properties or resources, plays a major role for learners or students so that the learners can access the resources online wherever and whenever required. The customization of e-learning depends on a better recommender framework which will be interpreted as fascinating research in the field of education. There are specific critiques in the recent recommender systems that utilize different recommendation techniques specifically for educational datasets to identify the learning preferences of the learners. Some of the important critiques are inaccuracy in the final recommendation, increased processing time, and many variations in the various performance measures. To resolve these critiques in some of the recent well-known methods, this research develops an enhanced vector space recommender that can automatically follow the learner’s interests, requirements, and knowledge level. The learners learning styles are classified and extracted from the server blogs. After applying enhanced preprocessing operations, the similarity is computed with improved content-based filtering to obtain a better recommendation list. The outcomes are ranked in an order that depends on the adjusted cosine similarity content. The proposed collaborative filtering (CF) method categorizes active learners into one learner group. The proposed model has experimented on various machine learning (ML) benchmark instances such as recommendations of music, movies, food, book, merchandise, dating, healthcare, and Open University instances. The simulation outcomes of the proposed model achieve better performance metrics in terms of computing time, mean absolute error (MAE), accuracy, precision, recall, and ranking score compared to the existing well-known strategies. The proposed model achieved a better MAE that lies between (5.08, 25.26%), and better accuracy is achieved within (80, 93%) for the considered benchmark instances over the state-of-the-art approaches.
