Abstract:Objective:To investigate the relationship among attachment patterns ,social support and mental health of medical college students in internship .Methods :220 medical college students in internship were recruited to com-plete 4 questionnaires ,including the two widely used measurements of adult attachment :Relationship Questionnaire (RQ)and Experience of Close Relationship(ECR)to measure students'attachment style ,Social Support Requirement Scale for measuring social support ,and Symptom Check Scale List -90(SCL -90)measuring their mental health .Re-sults:The distributions of adult attachment measured by RQ were :47 7.% secure ,32 7.% dismissing ,12 7.% preoccu-pied ,and 6 8.% fearful .Meanwhile ,only on the index of'availability of social support',secure attachment (8 9. ± 1 8.) and fearful attachment participants (8 8. ± 1 9.) got higher score than dismissing (7 8. ± 1 5.) and preoccupied (8 0. ± 1 7.) .Moreover ,those secure participants (109 4.± 23 3.)got significant lower scores on all indexes of SCL -90 than dismissing(122 7.± 27 2.) ,preoccupied (138 3.± 38 5.)and /or fearful attachment students (120 9. ± 38 9.) .Regression analysis showed that participants'mental health can be predicted by attachment avoidance ,attachment anxiety and social support .Conclusion :The mental health level of medical college students in internship is related to their attach-ment and social support levels .
Marriage Anxiety of University Students in Terms of Family Belonging and Parental Attitude

Abstract:In today’s modern societies, marriage is less and less preferred by young people. Marriage anxiety is one of the reasons for this. This study examined the correlation between the level of marriage anxiety of university students and two main factors related to it: family belonging and parental attitudes. The sample consisted of 992 university students from public universities in Turkey. It was found that the students with high marriage anxiety had a low sense of belonging to the family and a low level of family affiliation. In addition, the students with high marital anxiety perceived their parents' attention as low and their psychological autonomy was low. It was also found that the attention of parents was perceived as high in students with a high level of family affiliation, that their psychological autonomy was low, and that their level of parental supervision was high. According to the results of multiple linear regression analysis, it was found that family membership status and parental attitude explained 0.5% of the total variance of marriage anxiety. In conclusion, family belonging and parental attitudes are parallel, affecting individuals' marriage anxiety. Parental attitudes seem to reduce / trigger marriage anxiety in university students.

Abstract:Social anxiety is a common problem. Several factors play a role in the development and maintenance of social anxiety. Since relationship with parents is specifically an important factor, it is important to examine social anxiety from an attachment theory perspective. Studies indicate that early maladaptive schemas and rejection sensitivity may play a role in the relationship between attachment pattern and psychological distress. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to examine the mediating role of early maladaptive schema domains and rejection sensitivity in the relationship between internal working models of attachment and social anxiety. The sample of the study consisted of 557 university students (199 male, 358 female) between the ages of 17-27 (M = 20.69, SD = 1.79). Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, Relationship Scales Questionnaire, Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form 3, and Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire were administered to the participants. Results of the mediation analysis with Bootstrapping showed that Impaired Autonomy schema domain and rejection sensitivity mediated the relationships between attachment self-model and social anxiety. Moreover, schema domains of Impaired Autonomy, Impaired Limits and Unrelenting Standards, and rejection sensitivity mediated the relationship between attachment other-model and social anxiety. The current study may contribute to the literature by providing an understanding of how the relationship between attachment and social anxiety may emerge. Clinicians aiming to increase clients’ functionality and quality of life should/could focus on their clinical practice on the above early maladaptive schema domains and rejection sensitivity.

Abstract:Diverse studies have been done to explore the relationship of parental attachment with developmental outcomes in children but very few studies have investigated this phenomenon in adolescence. Adolescence is a much-burdened stage of development that is marked by the physical and psychological transition. For this reason, this research was planned to find out the link of parental attachment with psychological well-being, and interpersonal relationship anxiety in adolescents. Selective school and college students of age range 12 to 18 years (M=16.07, SD=1.77) were administered with the interpersonal relationship anxiety questionnaire, the flourishing scale and inventory of parent and peer attachment-mother and father forms along with a detailed demographic information sheet. Results of partial correlation, after controlling for the effect of gender, revealed that attachment with mother and father exclusively positively correlates with psychological well-being and negatively correlated with interpersonal relationship anxiety. SEM revealed that maternal and paternal attachment correlate with each other and collectively negatively correlates with interpersonal relationship anxiety and positively with psychological well-being. However, exclusively, only paternal attachment negatively predicted relationship anxiety. One sample t-test revealed that maternal attachment is perceived as secure, across genders as compared to the paternal attachment. ASEAN Journal of Psychiatry, Vol. 23(2) February, 2022; 1-10.
[Examination of Adult Separation Anxiety and Bonding Styles in Patients with Panic Disorder Who Applied to a Psychiatric Clinic]

Abstract:Introduction: The attachment processes give us a theoretical frame work to understand the psychopathological development. Unsafe attachment type is often associated with the emergence of psychopathology in the later periods of life. Method: This study includes 65 patients from psychiatry outpatient clinic with a diagnosis of panic disorder and 65 healthy volunteers as a control group. In order to determine clinical status and disease severity of patients with panic disorder according to SCID-I (Structured Clinical Interview for DSM Disorders-I) Panic-Agoraphobia Scale, Adults Separation Anxiety Scale, Relationship Scale Questionnaire were used. Results: Separation anxiety levels showed statistically significant difference among panic disorder group and control group. According to means of attachment style solely obsessive sub-dimension showed statistical significance difference among the two groups. In panic disorder group separation anxiety showed significant difference according to gender and the presence of agoraphobia. When attachment styles of patients with an early parent loss or divorce of parents assessed anxious and obsessive sub-dimensions the difference were found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: High Comorbidity of panic disorder (dominantly coexisting with agoraphobia) and adult separation anxiety was observed. This comorbidity was even higher in females. In both groups obsessive attachment style was the highest among the attachment styles. In patients with panic disorder there was no significant correlation between adult separation anxiety and/or existence of agoraphobia and attachment styles. Coexistence of adult separation anxiety and panic disorder was found to result in higher depression comorbidity rates.

Abstract:Purpose: This study aims to investigate the correlation between Avoidant and Anxious Attachment Styles and Social Anxiety, contributing to a deeper understanding of these interconnected factors among undergraduate students. Methodology: Convenient Sampling was used to recruit 350 participants aged 18-26 from Forman Christian College (FCCU) in Lahore, Pakistan. The study administered the Revised Adult Attachment Scale (R-AAS) for close relationships and the Social Anxiety Scale (SAS). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS v.20, with Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient, Simple Linear Regression, and Independent Sample t-Test applied. Findings: A statistically significant positive correlation was found between Anxious Attachment Style and Social Anxiety. Anxious Attachment Style was revealed to positively predict 19% variance in Social Anxiety with p value <.001. A significant gender difference was found among Social Anxiety and Anxious Attachment Style, but none among Avoidant Attachment Style. Implications: Practical implications include tailored clinical interventions and support groups for holistic treatment. Recognizing attachment styles can improve intimate relationships. Gender differences in social anxiety suggest women may need gender-sensitive therapy to address social challenges in education and careers.

Abstract:Introduction Studying medical science is a demanding task, often leading to exam anxiety among medical students. This study aims to measure anxiety levels among medical students and their relationship with gender, age, grades, study time, year of study, and learning methods. Methods It is a cross-sectional study involving third- to sixth-year medical students, who filled in the questionnaire related to the personal data, studying methods, and the Westside Test Anxiety Scale, to estimate the exam anxiety levels before the final examinations of the academic year 2020-2021. Completed questionnaires were reviewed, entered in Microsoft Excel, and analyzed using SPSS. Results We found a significant association between gender and high-test anxiety (p < 0.001), with a higher prevalence among females (47.9%) compared to males (22.5%). Although non-significant, its prevalence was higher among the 20 years old (34%) and those with a GPA 4.00-4.49 (37.9%). Anxiety decreased as the students progressed to higher years of studies (37.9% in the third year to only 9.1% in sixth<sup> </sup>year, p=0.073), with the lower incidence among those who studied five days or more per week (26.7%) and no significant difference was observed whether students studying in a group or individually. Though insignificant (p=0.754), learning through textbooks was found to be less stressful (29% vs 33%). Conclusion Our findings suggest that mediocre and female students are more vulnerable to exam high-test anxiety. Progression to senior years and use of textbooks were associated with lower anxiety levels. A cohort longitudinal study to establish an association between specific factors and anxiety levels is recommended.

Abstract:The associations between social anxiety, attachment insecurity, and emotional schemas were investigated among college students in the current study. A correlational design was used, and 502 college students (64.7% female, 35.3% male) participated in the study. In data collection, the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale (ECR), Social Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Leahy Emotional Schema Scale (LESS) were used. In data analysis, the Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analysis were used. Before conducting hierarchical regression analysis, multivariate outliers, multicollinearity, and normality were assessed. Results revealed that female students had higher scores on the dimension of social avoidance. Moreover, attachment insecurity (avoidant and anxious) and emotional schemas were significant predictors of social anxiety of college students.
Study on the Relationship Between Social Anxiety and Adult Attachment Styles of College Students

Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between social anxiety and adult attachment styles of college students. Methods A total of 324 college students were investigated with Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale(LSAS),Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised(ECR-R),Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale(FNE),Social Avoidance and Distress Scale(SAD),Self-Esteem Scale(SES) and Trust Scale(TS). Results The rate of LSAS positive was 30.6%. Compared with control group ,insecure style had 2.45 times of influence on the LSAS positive,fearful style had the strongest influence(5.59 times),and preoccupied style had 2.10 times of influence. There were significant differences of SAD-D,FNE,SES,TS on the adult attachment styles within LSAS positive group. Conclusion Adult attachment style has significant effect on social anxiety of college students. Insecure attachment style,especially fearful style has the most significant influence on the emotional and cognitive aspects of social anxiety.

Abstract:This study investigated the relationship between parent–child attachment and social anxiety in college students, as well as the mediating role of psychological resilience and the moderating role of online social support. In total, 614 college students were recruited by the cluster sampling method. The results showed that (1) parent–child attachment was negatively correlated with college students’ social anxiety and positively correlated with their psychological resilience, (2) psychological resilience played a mediating role between parent–child attachment and college students’ social anxiety, and (3) online social support regulated the first half and second half of the mediation process in which parent–child attachment affected college students’ social anxiety through psychological resilience. These findings revealed the mechanism of parent–child attachment affecting social anxiety, which had important theoretical and empirical value for enhancing the strength of college students’ psychological resilience and alleviating social anxiety.

Abstract:Aims: To Assess Depressive, Anxiety & Stress related symptoms and their correlation with sociodemographic factors amongst recently enrolled medical students. Study Design: Cross sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Recently enrolled 275 Medical students attending University between June 2022 and September 2022. Methodology: Study conducted among recently enrolled 275 Medical students. After taking their prior informed consent through online form shared through WhatsApp group, they were given to fill online questionnaire to collect sociodemographic factors in English made using PsyToolkit software. It also contains Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 21), which was used to collect information on depressive, anxiety, and stress related symptoms. Results: Prevalence of depressive symptoms is 68.4%, anxiety symptoms are 78.2% and stress related symptomsis 33.1% among medical students. Depressive, anxiety and stress related symptoms were statistically significantly associated with peer and family pressure to join study-stream (p-value of <.01 for all three) and history of mental health issues in family (p-value=.01 for all three). In addition, depressive symptoms were statistically significantly associated with poor peer-relationship (p-value=.01) and unsatisfaction regarding admission (p-value=.04); and stress related symptoms was statistically significantly associated with unsatisfaction regarding admission (p-value=.03). Conclusion: Prevalence of depressive, anxiety & stress related symptoms among recently enrolled medical students are high providing insight into needed improvement of psychological wellbeing in them; which could potentially have a positive impact upon their quality of life & patient care.

Abstract:The aim of this study is to examine the relationships between subjective well-being, anxiety and self-compassion in university students and to evaluate these concepts in terms of gender, age and place of residence variables. The study group of the research consists of a total of 306 people, 203 female and 103 male, studying at various universities. Subjective Well-Being Scale, Beck Anxiety Scale, Self-Sensitivity Scale and Sociodemographic Information Form were used to collect the data. T-test, ANOVA, correlation and regression analyses were applied to the data through SPSS program. According to the results of the analysis, it was concluded that there was a negative correlation between subjective well-being and anxiety levels of the participants. A positive correlation was found between subjective well-being and the sub-dimensions of self-compassion, awareness of sharing and consciousness; a negative correlation was found between the sub-dimensions of self-judgment, isolation and over-identification. According to the findings of the study, the subjective well-being levels of the participants did not differ according to sociodemographic information, while anxiety levels differed according to gender and place of residence. It was found that anxiety, isolation and over-identification levels of female participants were higher than those of male participants. The findings were discussed within the scope of the study and recommendations were made.
Testing an Integrated Model of Social Anxiety Disorder Based on Influencing Factors: Biological, Familial, Cognitive, Behavioral, Emotional, and Social in Female Students

Abstract:Objective: Social anxiety is characterized by the fear of being observed and judged by others in social situations. Methods and Materials: The present study aimed to investigate the relationships among early maladaptive schemas, behavioral inhibition, and social anxiety, considering the mediating role of social situation evaluation, safety behaviors, emotion regulation, social beliefs and thoughts, and self-related beliefs. This descriptive study was of a correlational type. The statistical population included all female medical students at Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Ahvaz. The research sample consisted of 483 female students who were selected through convenience sampling. The research instruments included the Social Phobia Inventory, the Early Maladaptive Schemas Questionnaire, the Social Situations Evaluation Scale, the Safety Behaviors Questionnaire, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, the Social Beliefs and Thoughts Scale, the Self-Related Beliefs Scale, and the Behavioral Inhibition Questionnaire. Findings: Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling. Fit indices indicated that the hypothetical model of the study had a good fit with the data (CFI = 0.96, IFI = 0.96, RMSEA = 0.07). The results showed that except for emotion regulation, all mediator variables affect social anxiety disorder (SAD). Conclusion: Given the role of the factors proposed in the research model, it can be utilized in designing interventions for SAD among female medical students.

Abstract:Throughout the pandemic of COVID-19, medical students have been undergoing online learning, which has the potential to cause them anxiety. The study’s objective is to determine a relationship between anxiety scales and gender, year of study, resilience scale, and social support scale. This study used a cross-sectional approach with analytic observational methodology. The year of study and gender were in the biodata section, the resilience scale was calculated utilizing the Nicholson McBride Resilience Questionnaire (NMRQ), and the social support scale was calculated utilizing the Oslo Social Support Scale-3 (OSSS-3). The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) was employed to evaluate anxiety scales. The data was examined utilizing univariate and bivariate methods such as Chi-square and Kendall-tau. The amount of respondents was 238 respondents who were selected by simple random sampling. The result showed significant results (p<0.05) for factors that consist of gender (r=0.183, p<0.01), year of study (r= -0.151, p<0.05), resilience (r= -0.297, p<0.01) and social support (r= -0.243,p<0.01). This research’s findings are gender, year of study, resilience, and social support all have a significant correlation with anxiety scale experienced by respondents while participating in online learning.
Examination of the Relationship Between Early Maladaptive Schemas, Attachment Styles and Adult Separation Anxiety ın a non-Clinical Sample

Abstract:Early maladaptive schemas are based on belief mechanisms that are shaped in the childhood of individuals and manifest in relationships in their future lives. These schemas consist of 5 domains and 18 sub-dimensions also affect the way people perceive others.Another factor that predicts relationships in adulthood is the quality of the attachment established with the caregiver in early life.Attachment types seen in adults are examined under 4 main headings. The aim of this study is to determine the level and existence of the correlation between early maladaptive schemas and attachment styles of individuals and their perceived separation anxiety in adulthood, using the correlational survey model. The scales used were, Personal Information Form, Young Schema Questionnaire ,Adult Attachment Scale, and Adult Separation Anxiety Questionnaire. 285 individuals, 148 women and 137 men, over the age of 18 and residing in Istanbul, participated in the study. According to the findings of the study, there is a positive correlation between the Fearful, Preoccupied and Dismissive Attachment subscale scores and the Adult Separation Anxiety Scale scores, and there is a negative significant relationship with the Secure Attachment subscale overall score. It is seen that the sub-dimensions of the Young Schema Questionnaire significantly predict separation anxiety in adults. On the other hand, it was found that the Young Schema Scale sub-dimensions were positively correlated with the scores of other attachment styles, except for secure attachment. The obtained results support previous studies.

Abstract:Grounded in social–ecological system theory, the present study tested the mediating effects of maternal psychological flexibility and mother–adolescent attachment on the relationship between maternal adult attachment and adolescent anxiety as well as the moderating effects of teacher support and peer support on the relationship between mother–adolescent attachment and adolescent anxiety. In total, 1139 Chinese mothers and adolescents completed a set of questionnaires, including the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale, Parental Psychological Flexibility Questionnaire, Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, Trait Anxiety Inventory, and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. The results revealed that maternal adult attachment had a positive impact on adolescent anxiety. The relationship between maternal adult attachment and adolescent anxiety was chain mediated by maternal psychological flexibility and mother–adolescent attachment. In addition, teacher support and peer support had moderating effects on the relationship between mother–adolescent attachment and adolescent anxiety. These findings support the systematic social ecosystem perspective and highlight the differences in the effects of different maternal adult attachment styles, teacher support, and peer support on adolescent anxiety.

Abstract:Introduction This study was conducted to estimate anxiety levels at the university level to address the issues of changing the healthy lifestyle of students, promoting health, spending their free time properly, being healthy, and developing good habits. Objectives The aim is to study the factors affecting student anxiety. Methods The study was conducted by random sampling of 1356 students from the 1st to 5th year of the medical school of Etugen University in the academic years 2020-2022. Results 4.3%(58) of students' inherent anxiety was low, 62.3%(845) was moderate, and 33.4%(453) were high, while 4.2%(57) had low anxiety and 42.4% (575) were anxious due to the student's situation. had moderate anxiety and 53.4% (724) had high anxiety. According to the research, 69.9% (948) had a low level of motivation, 23.4% (317) had a below-average level, 5.6% (76) had an average level, and 1.1% (15) had an above or higher level. There is a weak inverse relationship between congenital anxiety and the course of study (r=-0.054*), and a weak inverse relationship between age (r=-0.048). There is a weak (r=-0.125**) inverse relationship between situational anxiety and the course of study, and a weak (r=-0.127**) inverse relationship between age. When examining the relationship between students' natural anxiety and the factors influencing it, there is a moderate (r=0.630**) direct correlation between natural anxiety and situational anxiety. Abstract:Objectives This study analyzed the structural relationship among adult attachment, rejection sensitivity, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, and social anxiety of university students. Methods For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 500 college students at D and S private universities in Busan Metropolitan City, and 468 data were used for the final analysis, Correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the relationship between adult attachment, rejection sensitivity, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, and social anxiety of college students using the 27.0 program, and structural relationship analysis was conducted using the AMOS 27.0 program. Results The analysis results are as follows. First, university students' adult attachment, rejection sensitivity, and emotional expression ambivalence had a direct effect on social anxiety. Second, university students' adult attachment had an indirect effect on social anxiety by mediating rejection sensitivity. Third, university students' adult attachment had an indirect effect on social anxiety by mediating emotional expressive ambivalence. Fourth, in the relationship between university students' adult attachment and social anxiety, a partial mediating effect was shown in the sequential mediating effect of rejection sensitivity and emotional expression ambivalence. Conclusions In the relationship between university students' adult attachment and social anxiety, the mediating role of rejection sensitivity and emotional expression ambivalence as mediating variables was verified and suggested that it is an important variable in lowering social anxiety.

Abstract:The aim of the study is to examine the relationships in between intolerance of uncertainty, perceived social support, insecure adult attachment (anxious and avoidant) and anxiety. The mediator effects of intolerance of uncertainty and perceived social support on the relationship between adult attachment and anxiety have not been examined together yet. Considering the prevalence of anxiety and the etiology of attachment, the outcomes of this study are important in both theoretical and practical contexts. Four hypotheses of the study are built on the assumption that both intolerance of uncertainty and perceived social support will have mediating effects on the relationships between anxious attachment and anxiety, and between avoidant attachment and anxiety. The sample consists of 880 university students between the ages of 18-25. Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory-II-Short Form, Trait Anxiety Form, Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-Short Form and Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale were used. According to the findings, intolerance of uncertainty was found to be in the role of mediator on the relationship between anxious attachment and anxiety, but not on the relationship between avoidant attachment and anxiety. The family and significant other sub-dimensions of perceived social support mediated the relationship between both anxious attachment and anxiety, and avoidant attachment and anxiety.
