A case of acute abdomen caused by bladder rupture attributable to diabetic neurogenic bladder

Abstract:Neurogenic bladder is a major cause of spontaneous bladder rupture, which can cause acute abdomen with high mortality. However, there are few case reports that describe bladder rupture associated with diabetic neurogenic bladder. In the present report, we describe a case with acute peritonitis due to intraperitoneal spontaneous bladder rupture, plausibly relevant to diabetic neurogenic bladder, which was successfully treated by conservative therapy. Acute peritonitis due to spontaneous bladder rupture should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen in patients with diabetes.
