Chemical Compositions of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium in Biogas Slurry and their Bio-availability

Abstract:In order to understand the chemical components of main nutrients in biogas slurry,39 biogas slurry samples were collected from marsh gas tanks at pig farms,cattle farms,and households,respectively,in the suburban area of the Yangtze delta.pH,organic carbon,chemical oxygen demand (COD),and components of N,P,and K were determined.Statistical analysis was applied to evaluate the relationship among the components.Bio-availability of N,P,and K was also assessed.The results showed that concentrations and chemical components of N,P,and K in biogas slurry with different sources varied greatly.No significant differences in forms of N,P,and K of the biogas slurry were found among above three sources.The component contents of N,P,and K in the biogas slurry were positively correlated with their total contents.Contents of NH4-N and organic N,proportions of solid P in total P,organic P in water soluble P,particulate P in liquid P,and NaOH-P in solid P increased with increasing organic matter in the biogas slurry.While proportions of liquid P in total P,water soluble P in liquid P,PO4-P in water soluble P,residue P in solid P,and liquid K in total K decreased with increasing organic matter in the biogas slurry.The proportions of bio-availability N,P,and K of the biogas slurry in total were 75.58％,49.62％ and 80.98％,respectively,in averages.
