An incorrect citation was used for a study discussed in the manuscript, and the manuscript did not include recent information regarding validity concerns about that trial. In the final paragraph, the sentence "Furthermore, another randomized, placebo-controlled trial of metformin, albeit with a different dosing strategy, showed no benefit [12]" should be updated to:
