Abstract:Root exudates are a series of organic compounds from plant roots, they contain a variety of trace compounds, such as sugars, organic acids, and amino acids. Meanwhile, their small changes can lead to dynamic changes in forest soil organic carbon pool. Sugars are the main component in root exudates, while their content is very small and difficult to be determined. At present, the main determination of sugars in root exudates is qualitative analysis, but there exists no research on quantitative analysis. Under this background, this study established the HPIC chromatographic with GC-MS chromatographic for identification of trace sugars in root exudates. There was no interference in the baseline separation of HPIC chromatography. The sugars identification methods displayed a good linear relationship at 0.5-40.0 μg/mL, and the detection limit was 0.1 μg/ml. Due to the high accuracy, lower limit, higher sensitivity, and better reliability, this method can provide accurate data for the identification of trace sugars.
