Abstract:Network digital libraries have exploded in recent years, with numerous and complicated evaluation indicators. The main body of evaluation is gradually showing the diversification characteristics of evaluation objects, and comprehensive evaluation standards. In order to better ensure the overall quality and construction level of network digital library resources, this research innovation incorporates multi-level extension optimization evaluation. Based on the network digital library, a multi-level extension optimization decision-making mechanism combining qualitative and quantitative is proposed. It has developed a new direction and provided new ideas for the resource quality and data evaluation of the future network digital library.

In particular, digital libraries serve enormous number of various users and play an essential role as repositories and source of investigation and intelligence. With the emergence of IoT (Internet of Things) and different academic open-access digital libraries, the automatic extraction of advantageous knowledge from text data has been more and more a significant subject of research in data mining. In this paper, we perform web scraping system, statistical analyses from the arXiv repository and discuss the results of analyzing recent research trends in this academic open-access digital library.

Abstract:The revolution the Web has brought to information dissemination is not so much due to the availability of data-huge amounts of information has long been available in libraries-but rather the improved efficiency of accessing (improved accessibility to) that information. The Web promises to make more scientific articles more easily available. By making the context of citations easily and quickly browsable, autonomous citation indexing can help to evaluate the importance of individual contributions more accurately and quickly. Digital libraries incorporating ACI can help organize scientific literature and may significantly improve the efficiency of dissemination and feedback. ACI may also help speed the transition to scholarly electronic publishing.

Why IEEE Xplore Matters for Research Trend Analysis in the Energy Sector

Abstract:The article is aimed at a brief comparison and analysis of the results of queries to IEEE Xplore and the leading abstract databases Scopus and Web of Science to identify research trends. Some errors in the Author Keywords in Web of Science have been revealed. Therefore, a more detailed analysis was conducted by comparing different types of key terms for IEEE Xplore and Scopus platforms only. I used IEEE Access journal metadata as indexed on both platforms. The sample match for IEEE Xplore and Scopus was achieved by comparing DOI. The IEEE Xplore metadata contains more types of key terms, which provides an advantage in analyzing research trends. Using NSPEC Controlled Terms from expert-compiled vocabulary provides a more stable data, which gives an advantage when considering the change of terms over time. Apriori, an algorithm for finding association rules, has been used to compare co-occurrence of terms for a more detailed description of sample subjects on both platforms. VOSviewer was used to analyze trends in scientific research based on IEEE Xplore data. The 2011-2021 ten-year period was divided into two sub-intervals for comparing the occurrence of Author Keywords, IEEE Terms, and NSPEC Controlled Terms. Using the IEEE conference proceedings bibliometric data, I illustrated the importance of context in estimating the rate of growth of publishing activity on a topic of interest.

Abstract:The Tsinghua University Architecture Digital Library (THADL) has been developed as a prototype system with dual goals-to study the key techniques of digital libraries (DLs), and to provide rich, valuable resources for Chinese architecture research and education as well as a high level of service. This paper focuses on the following issues: 1) the novel architecture of THADL and its implementation; 2) the metadata specification--THADL Metadata 2.0; 3) the OAI PMH v2.0 implementation to make THADL interoperable with other digital resources; 4) the Web-based courseware environment for students majoring in architecture science; and 5) the personalized active service subsystem--THPASS.

Abstract:This demonstration shows the Profiles in Science® digital library. Profiles in Science contains digitized selections from the personal manuscript collections of prominent biomedical researchers, medical practitioners, and those fostering science and health. The Profiles in Science Web site is the delivery mechanism for content derived from the digital library system. The system is designed according to our basic principles for digital library development [1]. The digital library includes the rules and software used for digitizing items, creating and editing database records and performing quality control as well as serving the digital content to the public. Among the types of data managed by the digital library are detailed item-level, collection-level and cross-collection metadata, digitized photographs, papers, audio clips, movies, born-digital electronic files, optical character recognized (OCR) text, and annotations (see Figure 1). The digital library also tracks the status of each item, including digitization quality, sensitivity of content, and copyright. Only items satisfying all required criteria are released to the public through the World Wide Web. External factors have influenced all aspects of the digital library's infrastructure.

Abstract:Four years after the last LISA meeting, the NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) finds itself in the middle of major changes to the infrastructure and contents of its database. In this paper we highlight a number of features of great importance to librarians and discuss the additional functionality that we are currently developing. Starting in 2011, the ADS started to systematically collect, parse and index full-text documents for all the major publications in Physics and Astronomy as well as many smaller Astronomy journals and arXiv e-prints, for a total of over 3.5 million papers. Our citation coverage has doubled since 2010 and now consists of over 70 million citations. We are normalizing the affiliation information in our records and, in collaboration with the CfA library and NASA, we have started collecting and linking funding sources with papers in our system. At the same time, we are undergoing major technology changes in the ADS platform which affect all aspects of the system and its operations. We have rolled out and are now enhancing a new high-performance search engine capable of performing full-text as well as metadata searches using an intuitive query language which supports fielded, unfielded and functional searches. We are currently able to index acknowledgments, affiliations, citations, funding sources, and to the extent that these metadata are available to us they are now searchable under our new platform. The ADS private library system is being enhanced to support reading groups, collaborative editing of lists of papers, tagging, and a variety of privacy settings when managing one's paper collection. JSTOR has created a new tool called “Data for Research” that allows users to interact with the corpus in new ways. Using DfR researchers can now explore the content visually, analyze the text and the references, and download complex datasets for offline analysis.

Theses in engineering and technology also receive a high degree of demand, underlining their significance in scholarly work. Moreover, digital resources appear to be of growing importance, with users frequently and highly requiring them. In contrast, government documents, newspapers, and general encyclopedias are less frequently required, indicating a more specialized or focused interest among users. This data underscores the importance of aligning library collections and digital resources with the specific needs of the academic community. By doing so, institutions can ensure that users have access to the resources that are most essential for their research and learning, thereby enhancing the overall quality of academic endeavors.

Abstract:Tsinghua University Architecture Digital Library (THADL) is constructing as a small but comprehensive prototype system. The aims of THADL are: 1) to study the theories, methods and key techniques in digital library, 2) to provide learning environment and mechanism for university education, and 3) to pave the way for constructing future large-scale digital library. In this paper, we propose the architecture for THADL that assures acquisition, organization, management, retrieval, and distribution of materials on Chinese ancient architecture. We discuss the information model of THADL and implement a Web-based courseware environment for university education via Internet. Finally, we establish the metadata specification--THADL Metadata for marking and describing the digital materials in THADL.

Abstract:Purpose This study aims to analyse and understand the current state of research in the field of digital marketing in "library and information science". Design/methodology/approach This study used a "bibliometric research design." A lexical title search was used to obtain the required data set for executing this study, and a comprehensive "indexing and abstracting" database, Web of Science, was used as a data harvesting source. Louvain's clustering algorithm was used for network metrics. Findings The findings revealed that research productivity and impact have grown considerably over time, indicating significant attention towards digital marketing research in library and information science (LIS). Moreover, the results showed that the overall author collaboration patterns were weak, hence creating room for development in the author's collaboration patterns. Practical implications The current study could be very beneficial in providing a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the "digital marketing" research field scholarly output in LIS, which can be used by researchers, practitioners and policymakers to guide their work and make informed decisions. Originality/value The originality of this bibliometric study lies in its comprehensive and up-to-date analysis of the current state of research in the field of "digital marketing" in LIS. This study provides a unique and in-depth understanding of the key authors, venues and papers in the field, as well as the trends and patterns in the research.

Meanwhile THADL provides key services to protect, search, store, and exhibit the digital art treasures of Chinese ancient architecture on the Internet. This paper proposes an efficient architecture to develop THADL system and discusses the key techniques such as interoperability, information model, and metadata specification in THADL.
