Abstract:The growing network attacks and intrusions have put the government organizations at a great risk. In cyberspace, humans have great limitations in data analyze and cyber defense because of the amount of data they have to process and the limited response time. Considering these parameters one of the best solutions is when the cyber defense mechanisms are AI (Artificial intelligence)-based because they can easily determine and respond to the attacks that are underway. The responses can be easily managed using man in the loop or fully atomized techniques. This chapter gives brief review of the usage of artificial intelligence in support of cyber defense, explains some useful applications that already exist, emphasizing the neural nets, expert systems and intelligent agents in cyber defense. Furthermore the chapter will propose a technical AI-based cyber defense model which can support the governmental and non-governmental efforts against cyber threats and can improve the success against malicious attack in the cyberspace.

Abstract:As envisioned in a recent future-casting workshop, warfare will continue to be transformed by advances in information technologies. In fact, information itself will become the decisive domain of warfare. Four developments will significantly change the nature of the battle. The first of these will be a proliferation of intelligent systems; the second, augmented humans; the third, the decisive battle for the information domain; and the fourth, the introduction of new, networked approaches to command and control. Each of these new capabilities possesses the same critical vulnerability - attacks on the information, communications and computers that will enable human-robot teams to make sense of the battlefield and act decisively. Hence, the largely unseen battle for information, communications and computer security will determine the extent to which adversaries will be able to function and succeed on the battlefield of 2050.

Abstract:This book revises the strategic objectives of Information Warfare, interpreting them according to the modern canons of information age, focusing on the fabric of society, the economy, and critical Infrastructures. Abstract:Which government agency should have primary responsibility for the Internet? The USA seems to have decided this question in favour of the military—the US military today has the largest concentration of expertise and legal authority with respect to cyberspace. Those in the legal community who support this development are divided as to the appropriate legal rules to guide the military in its oversight of the Internet. Specialists on the international law on the use of force argue that with analogy and interpretation, current international law can be applied in a way that allows great freedom without sending the message that the USA is acting lawlessly when it comes to the Internet. Others reject this argument as unnecessary and potentially too restrictive. The USA need not observe international law rules, especially not with respect to the Internet. The way forward is to follow the Cold War strategy of threatening enemies with overwhelming force and preparing to act on these threats. This article also questions the application of international law on the use of force to the Internet. Rather than rejecting international law in general, however, the thesis here is that international law rules governing economic activity and communications are the relevant ones for activity on the Internet. Moving away from military analogy in general and Cold War deterrence in particular, will result in the identification and application of rules with a far better chance of keeping the Internet open and safer for all.

Abstract:The demand for strong cyber defence measures grows, especially in countries such as India, where the rate of digitalization far exceeds cybersecurity developments. The increasing amount of cyber threats highlights the urgent need to strengthen cyber defences. The literature review reveals significant shortcomings in India's cyber defence readiness, especially in real-time threat detection and response capabilities. Through simulation models, the study explores network security behaviours and the impact of defences on network security. The next section of this study focuses on implementing a cyber threat detection system that uses machine learning to identify and categorise cyber threats in real time, followed by strategies to integrate it into India's present infrastructure. Also, the study proposes an educational framework for training cyber professionals. The study concludes with a reflection on the implemented defence strategies. It adds to the continuing discussion about national security by providing an in-depth investigation of cyber warfare preparation and recommending a systematic method to improving through both technological and educational solutions.

Abstract:The issues of cyber-warfare and cyber-attacks have become problematic issues. These are very efficient and economical methods to attack any nation compared to conventional weapons. A country does not need fully trained army to wage a war these days. A country with the help of few computer engineers or hackers can attack other country and launch attacks. Such attacks could be devastating. Existing laws, such as IHL are not well equipped to handle the issue of cyber warfare. The cyber-attacks are already happening and there is every possibility that the number of cyber-attacks will increase in the near future. Computers and technology will only improve as time progresses, which is why the legal grey area of cyber warfare should be clarified in order to help nations understand and comply with international rules that will limit the potential harm that cyber weapons can have. Existing international conventions provide minimum regulatory framework to this phenomenon. It has therefore; become necessary to remove the ambiguities surrounding the issue of cyber warfare and a more precise and concrete understanding of this phenomenon is arrived at.

Abstract:Traditionally, experts considered several blockades, including sea and land, with the development of aircraft transportation - air, and with the advent of space technology and special satellites - space. Also, information blockades have been introduced with the rapid development of computer technology and communication tools. Each type of blockade had its historical characteristics; they differed in costs and, of course, efficiency. In the second half and at the end of the 20th century, scientists operated the term cyber blockade and restrictions in cyberspace. The paper sequentially considers physical environments (domains): air, land, sea, outer space, information space, and cyberspace. Multiple definitions of cyberspace have emerged as this concept evolves and becomes more nuanced in response to rapid developments in the technical, technological, economic, and social dimensions of modern life. Due to their potential, cyber-attacks and cyber warfare have garnered significant attention considering the ongoing development of society and business. Cyber-attacks are carried out regularly - against government agencies, military and civilian departments, and private businesses. The growing dependence of countries on cyberspace can play a negative role in the process of confrontation. The enemy can attack those areas where cyberspace is a decisive element. The authors discussed the questions of cyber-blockade efficiency.

Abstract:Due to the quick development of technology, the digital age has brought with it ad-vantages never before seen, but it has also opened the door to a flood of new cyber security concerns. This study offers detailed analysis of the cyber threat environment in the digital era along with suggestions for doable protective measures. The report outlines a number of cyber threats, including malware, phishing scams, ransomware, and insider threats. It looks at the continually evolving tactics employed by cyber-criminals, such as social engineering, zero-day flaws, and sophisticated persistent threats. The growing hazards associated with cutting-edge technology, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, are also exam-ined. The importance of a multi-layered security strategy to counter these attacks is emphasized in the article. Among the important preventative measures that are presented are robust network security, secure coding methodologies, user awareness training, encryption, access controls, and incident response planning. It also high-lights how crucial it is for people, businesses, and governments to collaborate in or-der to confront cyber risks. By using the recommended solutions and promoting a culture of cyber security awareness, people and organizations may navigate the dig-ital age with confidence and protect themselves from the continuously evolving environment of cyber risks.

Cyberspace has created new technologies and environments such as cloud computing, smart devices, IoTs, and several others. To keep pace with these advancements in cyber technologies there is a need to expand research and develop new cybersecurity methods and tools to secure these domains and environments. This book is an effort to introduce the reader to the field of cybersecurity, highlight current issues and challenges, and provide future directions to mitigate or resolve them. The main specializations of cybersecurity covered in this book are software security, hardware security, the evolution of malware, biometrics, cyber intelligence, and cyber forensics. We must learn from the past, evolve our present and improve the future. Based on this objective, the book covers the past, present, and future of these main specializations of cybersecurity. The book also examines the upcoming areas of research in cyber intelligence, such as hybrid augmented and explainable artificial intelligence (AI). Human and AI collaboration can significantly increase the performance of a cybersecurity system. Abstract:The possibility of conducting attacks on critical infrastructure of States prompted a re-evaluation of the jus ad bellum in cyberspace and the drafting of the Tallinn Manual at the behest of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. Artificial intelligence combined with the use of social media platforms that have access to large audience has opened a new avenue of international dynamics, posing a potential threat to the political independence of states. This article presents the analogy in the use of algorithmic targeting misinformation and influence campaigns and cyber attacks, as well as examines the roles of the various actors in the international sphere with a view on understanding what actions, if any, nations can undertake to counter these threats to their political independence under international law.

Abstract:Lançado em setembro de 2020, o game Cyberpunk 2077 apresenta um futuro em que já não é possível desconectar a mente do ciberespaço, lembranças são guardadas em chips e a busca por peças, softwares e antivírus de melhor qualidade garantem uma vida segura e semi-eterna. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desse artigo é fazer uma leitura deleuziana da estrutura narrativa de Cyberpunk 2077, partindo da hipótese que o game alicerça o protagonista V em situações que aclaram questionamentos trazidos por Deleuze em obras como Diferença e Repetição, Mil Platôs e em entrevistas como Controle e devir. A partir do olhar deleuziano, percebe-se em Cyberpunk 2077 problematizações acerca de potenciais mecanismos de agenciamento da sociedade de controle e uma crítica a um eventual descarte do corpo pelo tecnocapitalismo de 2077 a partir de conceitos como devir, rizoma, comunicação a-paralela.

Abstract:The convergence of telecommunication and computer technologies that has evolved in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the last two decades has had very important effects on new war technologies and the ongoing process of battlefield digitisation. The Stuxnet worm, uncovered in 2010 and responsible for the sabotaging of a uranium enrichment infrastructure in Iran, is a clear example of a digital weapon. The incident shows what is meant by cyber war and what the particular features of this new warfare dimension are compared to the conventional domains of land, sea, air and space, with relevance both at the operational and strategic levels. But cyberspace also extends to the semantic level, within the complimentary field of information warfare involving the content of messages flowing through the Internet for the purposes of propaganda, information, disinformation, consensus building, etc. The overall cyber warfare domain needs to be put into perspective internationally as many countries are developing strong cyber capabilities and an ‘arms race’ is already taking place, showing that these technologies can potentially be used to undermine international stability and security. What is needed is a public debate on the topic and its impact on global stability, and some kind of regulation or international agreement on this new warfare domain, including an approach involving confidence building measures (CBMs).

Abstract:In this survey, we first briefly review the current state of cyber attacks, highlighting significant recent changes in how and why such attacks are performed. We then investigate the mechanics of malware command and control (C2) establishment: we provide a comprehensive review of the techniques used by attackers to set up such a channel and to hide its presence from the attacked parties and the security tools they use. We then switch to the defensive side of the problem, and review approaches that have been proposed for the detection and disruption of C2 channels. We also map such techniques to widely-adopted security controls, emphasizing gaps or limitations (and success stories) in current best practices.
