Abstract:In this paper, vibration reduction of an axially moving belt system is studied by using boundary control method and Lyapunov's direct method. To achieve more accurate and practical dynamic behavior of the moving belt system, the effects of time-varying speed is considered in belt's dynamic model, which is modeled by a partial differential equations coupled with ordinary differential equations involving functions of space and time. Boundary controller is designed at the right boundary of the axially moving belt system based on Lyapunov's direct method to reduce the belt's vibrations. The uniform boundedness and closed-looped stability are proved based on proposed boundary control. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed boundary control.

Abstract:Optimum control of the conveyor in the transport flow due to the change of the belt tension is proposed in order to reduce the costs of transporting goods by increasing the life of the belt and reducing energy consumption costs. It is suggested to use tape tension control to eliminate the accidental slippage of the tape on the drum and its excessive abrasion during the transportation of the ore mass. To implement the control method being developed, it is necessary to use a mathe-matical model with distributed parameters, on the basis of which an optimal control model will be formed using the control principles considered in the work. Control of this kind of objects is determined by the technological need to compen-sate for the slippage of the belt on the drive drum of the conveyor, which is based on the process of transmission of motion using friction, and is implemented by changing the thermal field on the arc of the girth by changing the tension of the conveyor belt or the speed of rotation of the drum. Thus, from the point of view of the theory of control of systems with distributed pa-rameters, in the process of controlling the thermal field of the drive drum and belt, the controlled coordinate is the temperature or its distribution on the girth arc. As a result of a change in the circumferential force on the drive drum, the pressure of the tape on the lining of the drum changes, which leads to a change in the value of the heat flow both in terms of amplitude and spatial distribution (the value of the working sliding arc changes, i.e. the area of elastic interaction), which is compensated by con-trolling the tension ribbons

Abstract:The mechanism of propagation of longitudinal dynamic stresses in a conveyor belt, the material of which corresponds to the Maxwell model of an elastic element, is considered. The features of the occurrence of longitudinal vibrations in the material of the conveyor belt for the section of the transport system equipped with asynchronous motors are considered. It is shown that the acceleration of the conveyor belt occurs as a result of an abrupt change in the traction moment of the asynchronous electric motor when the power consumption of the conveyor section changes. The process of acceleration/deceleration of the conveyor belt is periodic and is determined by the uneven distribution of material along the transport route. This imposes additional restrictions on the synthesis of algorithms for optimal control of the conveyor belt speed. Accounting for uneven distribution of material along the transport route is based on an analytical PiKh-model of the conveyor section. To analyze the longitudinal vibrations in the conveyor belt section of the transport system, the wave equation is written and the boundary conditions are substantiated. An estimate of the propagation velocity of longitudinal vibrations in the conveyor belt is given. A solution of the wave equation based on the method of successive approximations is obtained, which determines the dynamics of the propagation of dynamic stresses along the conveyor belt. An estimate of the value of the characteristic acceleration time of the belt, which determines the continuous mode of operation of the transport conveyor section, is given. The scientific novelty of the results obtained lies in the improvement of the control systems for the flow parameters of the transport system in the presence of restrictions associated with the occurrence of longitudinal vibrations in the conveyor belt. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the construction of a methodology for calculating the limitations of the acceleration/deceleration mode of a conveyor belt unevenly loaded with material along the transport route.

Abstract:The article examines the nature of the dependence of the amplitudes that arise on the drive of a mine belt conveyor from changes in the belt load, from the angle of transportation, as well as technological parameters of transportation and design parameters of the drive and the mechanical part of the conveyor. These amplitudes have a significantly affect to the resource of the mechanical and electrical parts of the conveyor, in particular: the conveyor belt, reducer, electric motor, etc. A mathematical model of the load amplitude formation on the elements of the mechanical and electrical parts of the belt conveyor drive due to the fluctuation of the belt load has been developed. The nonlinear nature of the amplitudes’dependence that arise on the mine belt conveyor drive from the variable load of the belt and from the angle of transportation has been established. Graphically and analytically, the characteristic angle of installation of the belt conveyor is determined, at which the moment of resistance does not depend on the belt load and will remain constant under the existing fluctuations in the amount of the mass of the cargo on the conveyor belt. Mining technical conditions that correspond to the transportation of bulk cargo by a belt conveyor at the installation angle described above are recommended as rational from the point of view of minimizing the amplitudes of loads on the conveyor drive, which is expected to increase the conveyor's resource and its reliability in general. The functioning of conveyors with minimum load amplitudes by the mechanical and electrical part of their drive corresponds to the operating conditions of horizontal and slightly inclined conveyors with the value of the angle transportation of the cargo down. The modulus of this angle is equal to the arctangent of the tape motion resistance coefficient.
Dynamic method of control of weight of cargo transported by a belt conveyor

Abstract:Abstract The intensification of the transportation processes of mined minerals is one of the key factors in solving the problems of increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the extractive industries. The processes of transportation of mining minerals are associated with their spatial movement by means of belt conveyors. Existing tools for assessing the weight of mining minerals transported by conveyors are based on the use of strain gauge methods and means of control, which allow weighing of mining rocks with acceptable accuracy at a conveyor belt speed of up to 5 m/sec. For conveyors with a high length (more than 10 km), such speed and weighing speed is unacceptable. Therefore, the development of methods and means of controlling the weight of rock transported by a conveyor at high speed is an urgent task. This paper is devoted to the substantiation of the dynamic method of controlling the weight of cargo transported by a belt conveyor based on an assessment of the dynamics of acceleration and deceleration of the rotor of a driving electric motor in steady–state operating conditions.

Abstract:Purpose. The article explored options for control systems for the electric drive of grain-metal machine conveyor to stabilize the speed of conveyor belt when the load changes. Methodology. A control system is proposed that implements the principles of subordinate regulation and is supplemented by compensatory feedbacks in the control channels of active and reactive energy. The calculation of the regulators and the modeling of the system operation have been completed. The analysis of the obtained characteristics showed that the synthesized system is characterized by good quality indicators. However, the characteristics were obtained for the case of known parameters of an asynchronous machine and adjusting the regulators for these parameters. Studies have shown that for the proposed structure, the most significant is the incorrect determination of the inductive reactances of the stator and rotor of asynchronous machine. So, when the inductance de- viates by 30%, significant fluctuations occur in the subordinate regulation system. Complex solution to the problem of providing low sensitivity to parametric and coordinate disturbances and an increase in dynamic and static accuracy can be obtained in a class of systems, that are stable with an unlimited increase in the gain, as a solution to the problem of ana- lytical design of optimal regulators based on the modified symmetry principle. The regulators of the reactive energy transmission channel with series-parallel correction, which are modified PID structures, have been synthesized. Regulators with sequential correction with PID and PIDD2 structures are synthesized for the active energy transmission channel. Results. Analysis of the obtained results of characteristics showed, that the optimal control system is characterized by better quality indicators in comparison with the classical system of subordinate regulation and practically insensitive to changes in the parameters of the electric drive. Originality. The results of mathematical modeling confirmed the possi- bility of using control systems synthesized as a solution to the problem of analytical design of optimal controllers based on the modified symmetry principle, to improve the quality indicators of the AC electric drive of the grain thrower con- veyor. Practical value. The use of the proposed optimal control system will provide the possibility of stabilizing the speed of the conveyor belt of the grain thrower, which will reduce the percentage of injured and damaged grain. Abstract:longitudinal dynamic stresses and investigate the peculiarities of the propagation of dynamic stresses along the route of material transportation. Methodology. To calculate the value of static and dynamic stresses arising in the conveyor belt, the apparatus of mathematical physics was used. Findings. A wave equation is written that determines the propagation of longitudinal vibrations in a conveyor belt, the material of which corresponds to the Maxwell-element model. An expression is obtained for calculating the speed of propagation of elastic vibrations along the conveyor belt, the frequency of vibrations and their wavelength. The characteristic relaxation time of disturbances is determined. The method of successive approximation was used to solve the wave equation. The estimation of the characteristic time of acceleration of the conveyor belt, at which there is no destruction of the material of the conveyor belt, is given. Originality. PDE-models of conveyor-type transport systems are improved, which are used to design belt speed control systems under restrictions on speed control modes. It is shown that under the modes of acceleration or deceleration of the conveyor belt, the effects associated with the occurrence and propagation of dynamic stresses along the conveyor belt, due to the characteristics of the material corresponding to the Maxwell-element model, are insignificant. Practical value. The results obtained make it possible to determine the limitations on the modes of acceleration or deceleration of the conveyor belt, preventing its damage and increased wear. This opens up prospects for designing effective control systems for the parameters of a conveyor belt, unevenly loaded with material along the transport route.
Control of Selected Operational Parameters of the Scraper Conveyor to Improve Its Working Conditions

Abstract:The concept of controlling operational parameters of the conveyor, utilising the ability to adjust extension of telescopic trough of the conveyor and the ability to adjust the value of supply voltage frequency for drive motors is described. The control algorithm was designed to prevent unfavourable dynamical phenomena and dangerous loosening of the chain during the conveyor’s operation. On the basis of the rules describing developed algorithm, value of supply voltage frequency for the drive motor, located both at the return end and at the discharge end is adjusted. Another adjusted parameter is the extension of telescopic trough on the return drive. By adjusting parameters listed here, unfavourable loosening or excessive tension of the scraper chain are eliminated. Moreover, adjusting the value of the supply voltage frequency for drive motors may provide proper cooperation between them, preventing situations when one of the motors, the through scraper chain, loads the other one. In addition, changing frequency of voltage enables adjusting the motor’s rotary speed, and at the same time controlling the speed of the chain with the scrapers. Applying the control algorithm will allow to improve conveyor’s operation. It will also decrease its failure frequency and its wear and tear, by reducing frictional wear.

Abstract:Highlights • Equality constraints and inequality constraints are simultaneously considered in dynamical system based on the generalized Udwadia-Kalaba approach. • A robust control for handling inequality constraints that does not affect equality constraints is designed. • The robust control can render the uncertain system uniformly bounded and uniformly ultimately bounded. • The method is proposed of applying inequality constraints to belt conveyors to avoid belt breakage and folding faults in engineering. Uncertainty can lead to jitter or overshoot in mechanical systems, necessitating the design of multiple constraints to stabilize them. This paper proposes a control structure based on the generalized Udwadia-Kalaba equation to address these constraints simultaneously. An uncertain dynamical model is developed, incorporating both equality and inequality constraints. By integrating diffeomorphism theory, a robust control strategy is designed to ensure compliance with these constraints. Utilizing the Lyapunov approach, the uniform boundedness and uniform ultimate boundedness of the dynamical system are demonstrated. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed control method is validated through its application to a belt conveyor system.

Abstract:The load unbalanced distribution status of traction motors in high-speed train was analyzed due to the wheel diameter deviation and motor parameter deviation.To this problem,a control strategy based on weighted linear regression was proposed.Compared to the traditional master-slave control strategy,it can yield better performance to balance the traction motors′ output.By established simulation model of CRH2 traction driver system based on Matlab/Simulink,the simulation results were obtained and validate the theoretical analysis.The research provides good recommendations about how to select matched traction motors.

Abstract:Purpose. Synthesis of an automatic control system for an asynchronous electric drive of a grain thrower conveyor based on a frequency converter with vector control. Methodology. The research was carried out using methods of mathematical modeling of an electric drive; using methods of tuning optimization and regulator synthesis. The technique of synthesis of vector control systems is based on the representation of a non-stationary multi-connected object, which is an AC machine, in the form of a set of stationary subobjects with linear links in the main control channels. Findings. The study of the work of the subordinate regulation system, which implements the principles of vector control, oriented along the vector of the rotor flux linkage, has been carried out. The modeling of the processes of AM excitation, AM start-up at idle speed, nominal load surge, speed reduction has been carried out. It was found that the synthesized system is characterized by good quality indicators. The overshoot at start does not exceed 5%, the regulation time is 0.4 s, the torque limitation is carried out at a predetermined level. It has been proven that oscillatory processes in transient modes with significant torque surges with classical settings of loop regulators can be compensated by introducing artificial cross-links into the control part of the electric drive. Originality. A system of subordinate regulation of the blood pressure of the grain thrower trimmer conveyor has been implemented to set the speed of the grain flow with the aim of throwing grain at a given distance by creating an appropriate ballistic flight trajectory, which ensures a reduction in losses from damage to grain. Practical value. The structure of the vector control system of a frequency-controlled asynchronous electric drive with additional compensating cross-connections between active and reactive energy control channels is proposed to improve the quality indicators of the system.
Kelvin-Voigt Model of Dynamic Stress in the Conveyors’ Belt

Abstract:The paper considers the reasons for the occurrence of dynamic stresses in a conveyor belt made of composite materials, the properties of which can be described by the Kelvin-Voigt model of an elastic element. A boundary value problem for the equation of elastic vibrations in a lightly loaded conveyor-type transport system is formulated. The dependencies determining the forces of resistance to the movement of the belt correspond to the recommendations of DIN 22101:2011-12. An expression is presented that determines the speed of propagation of disturbances in the conveyor belt, taking into account the uneven distribution of material along the transport route. The reasons for the appearance of elastic stresses in the conveyor belt associated with the start, acceleration, deceleration and stop of the transport conveyor are demonstrated. Dimensionless parameters were introduced to analyze the causes of dynamic stresses in the conveyor belt. Similarity criteria in the dimensionless transport conveyor model make it possible to use the results obtained for similar transport systems. It is shown that the value of static stresses for lightly loaded transport systems is characterized by a linear dependence on the distance between the belt element and the drive shaft of the conveyor section. The solution of the boundary value problem defining the expression for dynamic stresses in the tape is presented. It is shown that the decay speed of the arising disturbances is inversely proportional to the value of the viscosity coefficient of the composite material, which characterizes the mechanical properties of the conveyor belt. A qualitative assessment has been made for the characteristic decay time of dynamic disturbances in a conveyor belt.

Abstract:For the conveyor belt, variable material flow influences the energy efficiency of the speed control technology significantly. The fluctuation of material flow on the conveyor belt will lead to the detrimental vibrations on both the belt and the conveyor while the conveyor works at certain speeds. In order to improve the model inaccuracy caused by the uniform bulk material flow assumption in the current conveyor belt model, the paper establishes a high-precision dynamic model that can consider speed control of a conveyor belt under non-uniform bulk material transportation. In this dynamic model, a non-uniform bulk material distribution model is firstly proposed based on laser scanning technology. Then, a high-precision longitudinal dynamic model is proposed to investigate the dynamic behavior of a belt conveyor. Considering the micro-units of actual load on a conveyor belt, it can well describe the transient state of the conveyor belt. These models can be used to determine the optimal speed for safety and energy conservation in operation. Experimental results are used to validate the proposed dynamic model for analyzing belt mechanical behavior under non-uniform bulk material distribution on the belt. The results show that the proposed models can be used for optimizing the operating procedures of belt conveyor systems.

Abstract:Abstract HZ belt conveyor is a rubber conveyor belt with an end (or no end) installed on the driving roller and driven roller at both ends of the conveyor. Several parallel rollers and pallets are installed between the two rollers to support the weight of the material and the conveyor belt. The selection of the entire hardware of the balance control system of the belt conveyor is very important. In addition, the quality of the designed program (including the control algorithm and control accuracy) will directly affect the control performance index of the control system, and even affect the stability of the system. Therefore, in addition to hardware, program design is an important part of all links. The system designed in this paper is mainly designed by Siemens PLC300 special software STEP7.

Abstract:Aiming at solving the problem of high energy consumption in the rated belt speed operation of a belt conveyor system when the material flow rate is reduced, the power consumption of the frequency converter, motor, and belt conveyor is analyzed, a power consumption model of the belt conveyor system is established, the relationship between the power consumption of the belt conveyor system and belt speed is obtained, and a energy-saving control strategy of the belt conveyor with variable belt speed based on the material flow rate is put forward. The energy consumption of the belt conveyor is analyzed for a practical case. Results show that the power consumption model is accurate and the control strategy effectively reduces energy consumption. The model has high application value in coal, ports, power, mine, metallurgy, chemical, and other industries.

Abstract:The article considers the causes of dynamic stress when moving a conveyor belt with a material. The main factors of the occurrence of the dynamic resistance in the conveyor system are defined. It is demonstrated what the propagation speed of perturbations substantially depends on the loading level of the conveyor system with the material. When constructing a model of dynamic stresses, Hooke’s law was used, which is an accurate approximation for most solid bodies, as long as the forces and deformations are small enough. In the article, the main attention is given to the causes of dynamic stresses at the start of the conveyor system. When calculating the deformations, the inertia forces of the moving material and tape are considered. The analysis of the appearance of dynamic stresses at a constant value of the conveyor belt acceleration and the linear nature of the change in the value of the conveyor belt acceleration was carried out.

Abstract:The long-distance traditional belt conveyor driven by a single high-power motor has the problems of excessive tension increments and sharp fluctuations in speed and tension. This paper designs a distributed permanent magnet direct drive belt conveyor system. The dynamic model of the conveyor belt unit and the permanent magnet motor is analyzed. The multi-motor ring coupling control strategy and the double sliding film direct torque control strategy of the belt conveyor system are formulated. The mechanical-electrical coupling dynamic model of the belt conveyor system is built. Using MATLAB/Simulink modeling and simulation, the vector control strategy and electromechanical coupling dynamic behavior of the traditional belt conveyor system and the distributed permanent magnet direct drive belt conveyor system under light load start-up and local variable load operation conditions are studied. The results show that: the distributed permanent magnet direct drive belt conveyor system significantly reduces the peak of conveyor belt tension increment; the time spent under the starting light-load operation condition is shorter, and the fluctuation amplitude of speed and tension is smaller; it is possible to reduce the speed and tension fluctuation range of the conveying system and improve the robustness of the conveying system under local variable load conditions. Experiments have verified that increasing the number of drive motors in a conventional belt conveyor can suppress the disturbance caused by local load changes, and the distributed permanent magnet direct-drive belt conveyor has better dynamic regulation performance.

Abstract:The high angle belt conveyor with the cross ridge partitions is proposed in the article which allows to increase significantly not only its belt angle but also the transported weight cargo at the expense of the more effective flling and resistance to the force of gravity. The methodology of the high angle belt conveyor calculation is fnalized with regard to the defning of the forces and strains which influence the pressing lever. The graphical and mathematical models are proposed to depict the force interaction between the substructure elements and the transported weight load. The equation was derived for the maximum bending moment due to the conveyor structural features which now allows to calculate both the geometrical parameters of the press lever and the necessary compressed spring force. Taking into account the friction coefcient, the force of gravity and the additional force which is transmitted on both the diaphragm and the conveying belt the optimal range of the conveyor's belt angle was defned which provides the material consumption reduction at the designed productivity comparing with the conventional conveyors.Ill.4. Abstract:The article presents a diagram of a modernized design of a belt conveyor with composite guide rollers with elastic elements. A complex experimental technique is given. The patterns of changes in torques and angular velocities of the belt conveyor drums are obtained. The patterns of oscillations of the outer sleeve of the composite rollers of the conveyor guide are determined. Based on the analysis of the constructed profile substitutions their recommended values are determined which ensure high performance with minimal values of the friction force.

Abstract:Conveyor belts are used in industries such as electro-mechanical and mechanical assembly to transfer goods from one position to another or from one procedure to another. In coal mining industries, controlling the speed of a conveyor can be achieved by controlling the speed of its drive unit. The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC's) commonly used programming language has the trapezoidal chart language, Ladder Diagram (LD), the Smooth Functional Diagram (SFC), and the Function Block Language (FBD). The four-level leather belt conveyer control system belongs to the model of sequential control and therefore mainly uses the SFC to program. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is used to implement the control strategy. A PLC is a microprocessor-based control device with the original drive of complementing relay logic. The latest PLCs have progressed past just a robust stage into a new realm of high computational control and processor speediness. These, along with the PLC's extremely elastic arrangement, make it an ideal stage for uses far beyond its conventional ones. The main aim of this paper is to design a PLC conveyor belt control system for silo operation that has three various modes, namely continuous mode, manual mode, and fill by pass mode. The conveyor belt plays a very effective role as it reduces the time required to complete a large amount of work and increases productivity with high efficiency. It also saves money and costs, reduces the required manpower, is characterized by ease of maintenance and handling, and offers many other benefits.
