Abstract:Two complexes constructed by 2-(3,5-difluoro)phenyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (H3dpidc), namely, [Mn(H2dpidc)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (1) and {[Pb(H2dpidc)2(H2O)]·3H2O}n (2) have been prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Complex 1 possess mononuclear structure in which the MnII ion is coordinated by two N and two O atoms of H2dpidc− ligands, and two O atoms of two water molecules and located in the slightly distorted octahedral environment. Complex 2 exhibits a two-dimensional layer structure in which each PbII ion is six-coordinated by one N and four O atoms from four H2dpidc− ligands and by one O atom from one water molecule, leading to a more distorted octahedral coordination geometry. This indicates that changing of the metal ions can result in complexes with different architectures. Correspondingly, this also leads to the difference in the proton conductivity. The best proton conductivity of 1 (1.29 × 10−5 S/cm) with free carboxylate groups is an order of magnitude higher than that of 2 (1.35 × 10−6 S/cm) without free carboxylate group at 100 °C and 98% relative humidity. Moreover, their conducting mechanisms have been highlighted.
