Abstract:The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) describes the factors that influence the acceptance and adoption of technology by individuals. In education management, TAM is used to understand how educators, students, and administrative staff respond to the use of technology in the educational process. The application of the Technology Acceptance Model in education management is to help educational institutions plan, implement, and support the use of technology more effectively, taking into account psychological factors and user perceptions. The variables influencing technology acceptance are Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Attitude Toward Technology, and Intention to Use. This study examines the factors that influence the acceptance of technology by UT postgraduate students toward using information technology in distance learning. The research results are used to develop distance education management, especially in developing internet technology-based learning. The results show that the variables measured have a significant effect on the use of distance learning technology. Abstract:Educational approaches have advanced and changed tremendously in recent years. The evolution of communication technologies has been important, particularly since many educational activities have been moved to an e-learning format. This has introduced innovative teaching methods and educational management techniques. Learning management systems (LMS) such as Web-based course development tools (WebCT), Blackboard, and learning spaces are currently widely accessible. Most higher education institutions use Blackboard as their primary LMS platform, making it one of the most frequently used LMS platforms. Blackboard technology is a widely used online program for educational institutions that makes it easier to distribute crucial items from teachers to students, such as papers, student reports, projects, and other publications. Consequently, the main objective of this paper is to design a technology acceptance model to investigate user acceptance of a Blackboard learning management system. In addition, we aim to create a quantitative strategy using a technology acceptance model (TAM) questionnaire as the major investigation tool. The Blackboard learning management system is evaluated using a quantitative approach based on the TAM. We use perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, user satisfaction and attributes of usability as the associated constructs for evaluation. All of these structures were altered to fit the study's needs. Furthermore, in this paper, we examin the specifics of each concept, and how they relate to the research problem. The study's findings indicate a set of methodologies that can be used to evaluate the benefits of using the Blackboard system for online learning.

Abstract:<h3 class="a-plus-plus">Abstract</h3> <p class="a-plus-plus">This study examines the acceptance of technology and behavioral intention to use learning management systems (LMS). In specific, the aim of the research reported in this paper is to examine whether students ultimately accept LMSs such as eClass and the impact of behavioral intention on their decision to use them. An extended version of technology acceptance model has been proposed and used by employing one of the most reliable measures of perceived eased of use, the System Usability Scale. 345 university students participated in the study. The data analysis was based on partial least squares method. The majority of the research hypotheses were confirmed. In particular, social norm, system access and self-efficacy were found to significantly affect behavioral intention to use. As a result, it is suggested that e-learning developers and stakeholders should focus on these factors to increase acceptance and effectiveness of learning management systems.</p>

Abstract:The learning management system (LMS) has become a critical tool for nearly all institutions of higher education, and a driving force in online learning. According to a 2014 report by the Educause Center for Analysis and Research, 99% of higher education institutions have an LMS in place, and the LMS is used by 85% of faculty and 83% of students. This was not always the case, however. There was a time in the not-so-distant past when using an LMS was considered highly innovative. Understanding the growth and adoption of the LMS is a stepping stone to understanding how faculty may choose to adopt other technological and pedagogical innovations. This study was conducted at a large, research-intensive public university in the Midwest, which has used the same LMS for 15 years. From a small pilot, adoption has grown to nearly universal use. This study used system logs and database queries to examine how faculty used the LMS. The results identified the features that were used most frequently and how usage had changed over time. In addition, the study compared the usage data for face-to-face and online courses to determine if there are differences in LMS use due to course modality. Based on this, it is possible to better understand the role the LMS plays in higher education and online learning, to inform development of next generation learning systems or other innovative technologies.
The influence of system interactivity and technical support on learning management system utilization

Abstract:In recent years, there has been a growing increase in using Learning Management System (LMS) by universities. However, its utilization by students is limited in Malaysia. The main purpose of the present study is to develop and test a model that predicts LMS utilization by Malaysian higher education students. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model, the study investigated the relationships among six constructs (system interactivity, technical support, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, behavioral intention to use and LMS use) through structural equation modelling. The participants were 216 undergraduate students from a local university in Malaysia. The result of the study revealed that system interactivity had a significant effect on perceived usefulness, but not on perceived ease of use; technical support had a significant effect on perceived ease of use, but not on perceived usefulness.

Abstract:Learning Analytics Tools (LATs) can be used for informed decision-making regarding teaching strategies and their continuous enhancement. Therefore, LATs must be adopted in higher learning institutions, but several factors hinder its implementation, primarily due to the lack of an implementation model. Therefore, in this study, the focus is directed towards examining LATs adoption in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs), with emphasis on the determinants of the adoption process. The study mainly aims to design a model of LAT adoption and use it in the above context to improve the institutions' decision-making and accordingly, the study adopted an extended version of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as the underpinning theory. Five experts validated the employed survey instrument, and 500 questionnaire copies were distributed through e-mails, from which 275 copies were retrieved from Saudi employees working at public HLIs. Data gathered was exposed to Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) for analysis and to test the proposed conceptual model. Based on the findings, the perceived usefulness of LAT plays a significant role as a determinant of its adoption. Other variables include top management support, financial support, and the government's role in LATs acceptance and adoption among HLIs. The findings also supported the contribution of LAT adoption and acceptance towards making informed decisions and highlighted the need for big data facility and cloud computing ability towards LATs usefulness. The findings have significant implications towards LATs implementation success among HLIs, providing clear insights into the factors that can enhance its adoption and acceptance. They also lay the basis for future studies in the area to validate further the effect of LATs on decision-making among HLIs institutions. Furthermore, the obtained findings are expected to serve as practical implications for policy makers and educational leaders in their objective to implement LAT using a multi-layered method that considers other aspects in addition to the perceptions of the individual user.

Abstract:Online learning using LMS (Learning Management System) results in demotivation for Lecturers and Students. This study aims to explore the relationship between the contentment of using LMS with the behavioural intentions and user focus while using the LMS. The present study employed the user's perception of using LMS with HMSAM (Hedonic Motivation System Adoption Model) as the theoretical basis. The quantitative research method employed a questionnaire as a data collection method. The collected data were analysed statistically using the PLS-SEM method with SmartPLS 3.2.9 application. The results of the study showed that of the 10 (ten) hypotheses, 9 (nine) were accepted, and 1 (one) was rejected. In particular, the hypothesis indicating excitement affects behavioural intentions using the LMS shows a t-statistic value of 1.887 (t-statistics < t-value) hence being rejected. This study also provides recommendations for LMS development based on usability, curiosity, excitement, and control factors.

Abstract:The acquisition of non-proprietary and proprietary learning management system has provided a richer learning experience to users and raised interest among education providers. This study aims to assess student adoption of Canvas as a new learning management system and its potential as a web-based platform in the e-learning programme of the University of the East. This study also assessed student readiness in using Canvas. A survey was administered to 214 students of the University of the East through snowball sampling. An Exploratory Factor Analysis was conducted to examine the validity of the model. A Confirmatory Factory Analysis was used to validate the Exploratory Factor Analysis results and analyse the correlation of the constructs. A Structural Equation Modelling was conducted to analyse the relationships between the constructs, which were evaluated using fit indices. Adopted from the Technology Acceptance Model, the constructs perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitude were studied. The study reveals that students perceived usefulness and attitude towards using Canvas in a web-based platform have direct and significant effects on their intention to use Canvas. The students perceived ease of use has a significant effect on their perceived usefulness but has no significant effects on their attitude towards the use of Canvas. The students technological maturity and prior experience in using a learning management system influenced their beliefs on the adaptation of similar technology. Exploring the potential benefits of Canvas and factors affecting the students adoption amplifies access to quality education to fulfil educational directives. Furthermore, educational institutions should explore technological migration related to teaching and learning processes.

Abstract:This study aims to evaluate the utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS) by students of Universitas Terbuka (UT). The primary focus of this research is to comprehend the usage of LMS in higher education, with the research locations divided into three geographical zones: West (UT-Jakarta, UT-Surabaya, UT-Serang, UT-Pekanbaru, UT-Palembang, UT-Aceh), Central (UT-Pontianak, UT-Samarinda, UT-Makassar, UT-Kendari), and East (UT-Majene, UT-Mataram, UT-Palu, UT-Ternate, UT-Jayapura). The focus of the research is to identify factors influencing students not to participate in online classes, particularly related to the suboptimal utilization of the Online Tutorial service. In this study, 400 respondents were surveyed, all of whom are UT students. Data analysis was conducted using the SmartPLS application, utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The model involves both external variables and those within the TAM. The research findings indicate that the system quality significantly influences the use of LMS by students. Based on the gathered information, universities should enhance and regularly update features within the LMS to better support users efficiently.

Abstract:The Learning Management System (LMS) has attained great significance in the innovative teaching-learning process at the university level during pandemics. The 21st century saw innovation in technology use and incorporation of LMS in the teaching-learning process. The major objective of the present study was to determine the teacher-learner perception towards the adaptation of the Learning Management System and to examine the adoption baseline for LMS by incorporating critical external factors in the technology acceptance model. A mixed-method research approach was used. Data was collected from 400 learners and 20 teachers. It was found that teacher’s perception of LMS is affected by a number of factors related to social influence, perceived ease of use and usefulness. In addition, factors such as actual use of the system and content qualities are also important to whether teachers embrace a system or not. The study provides some useful insights on LMS adoption and highlights how innovative tools can transform the conventional learning landscape.

Abstract:The accelerating influx of learning technologies has catalyzed the surge for the formidable investments in e-learning systems across higher education institutions to revolutionize pedagogical practices. Thereby, learning management systems (LMS) have become indispensable tools in higher education. The enforcement of pandemic restrictions and emergency lockdowns to curb the spread of COVID-19 have compelled higher education institutions worldwide to cope with and sustain online education requirements while preserving the quality of the learning experiences at an equal pace. This research develops and validates an integrated theoretical model by integrating three theories, including the IS success model, technology acceptance model (TAM), and theory of planned behavior (TPB). A web-based survey has been administered to a sample of 373 Omani undergraduate students. The PLS-SEM technique has been implemented to analyze and scrutinize the hypothesized cause and effect paths among the constructs. The results revealed that quality factors have significantly influenced perceived ease of use, whereas technical system quality has demonstrated the most critical impact on the perceived usefulness. Both perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, in addition to subjective norms, have significantly influenced the intention to use LMS. In line with these results, the study throws several theoretical contributions and practical implications.

Abstract:In the last decades, universities and higher education institutes have widely employed a learning management system (LMS) to monitor and manage electronic learning and teaching. Contrary to the significant role of LMS in educational settings, most research has focused on initial acceptance, and few attempts have been made to investigate factors influencing students' continuance intention to use LMS. The present study is an effort towards this research direction by proposing an integrated model of expectation-conformation model (ECM), technology acceptance model (TAM), social influence (subjective norm), and perceived enjoyment (hedonic value). The proposed model is tested using statistical data from 153 university students from Mehralborz University (MAU), Tehran, Iran. To verify the proposed theoretical model, we ran partial least squares (PLS)/ structured equation modeling (SEM). The findings of this study reveal that the perceived usefulness is the strongest predictor of students' continuance intention. Surprisingly, our results also indicate that students' attitudes toward LMS and their satisfaction level exert no significant influence on continuance intention. The implications of this study and its limitations are also discussed.

Abstract:There are declines in learning outcomes despite teacher’s efforts to attain the lesson goals and objectives. The application of technology in education paved way for constructive teaching and learning, which made the evaluative processes convenient. Hence, this study investigated system quality, technology acceptance model and theory of planned behaviour models as an agent to adopt blended learning tools. The sample used for the study was 1200 students from seven public higher institutions in Lagos State using a stratified sampling technique to select the students from their respective colleges. A seven-point Likert scale was used to collect data from the selected samples. SmartPLS3 was used to analyze the data using the bootstrapping method. It was found that system quality influences the perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control towards intentions to use and culminated into actual usage of blended learning. Also, there is a strong mediating influence of system quality and the antecedents of technology acceptance model as against the theory of planned behaviour towards the actual usage of blended learning. Therefore, education institutions will have to create enabling classroom environment and quality blended learning tools which gives the facilitators the privilege to interact well with the learners and the subject matter without abrupt alteration of the lesson processes/procedures.

Abstract:Research on information systems has identified a variety of factors across a range of adoption models that determine their acceptance. In this research, the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), which integrates determinants across eight models, was utilised to analyse students' intentions to use and their actual usage of Moodle, an e-learning system at Hashemite University, a public university in Jordan, one of developing countries. Four principal determinants of intention and usage were explored: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. Data were collected from 370 undergraduate students and analysed using structural equation modelling techniques. The results indicated that performance expectancy and effort expectancy affected behavioural intentions to use Moodle whereas social influence did not. In addition, the results confirmed the direct impact of behavioural intentions and facilitating conditions on students' use of Moodle. UTAUT thus provides a valuable tool that enables university decision makers, faculty members, and designers to understand the factors driving e-learning system acceptance and thus facilitate the adoption of the system by students. The study will help educational institutions prepare e-learning systems, which is especially important during a state of emergency such as that caused by COVID-19.

Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of universities and colleges throughout the world, with the hope that public health officials’ suggestion of social distancing would help flatten the sickness curve and reduce overall mortality from the outbreak. However, the Learning Management System (LMS) is the perfect approach for fostering the dedication of students to content in education like sustainability. Previous studies have seldom investigated an integrated approach in the context of LMS in industrialized nations. In addition, this paper aims to include a literature analysis of recent research conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic in the area of LMS usage, as well as to investigate variables predicting the usage of LMS by higher education students during the COVID-19 pandemic for students’ engagement. On the basis of LMS usage data obtained from an online survey, structural equation modeling (SEM) and route analysis were utilized to verify the research model, a survey consisting of student LMS users King Saud University. The findings showed that the desire of students to use LMS had beneficial effects during the COVID-19 pandemic on learning as sustainability engagement. Also, student-perceived closeness, peer references and subjective well-being are favorably associated with the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, this, in turn, influences students’ intentions to utilize, which, in turn, effects the usage of LMS for student engagement during COVID-19.

Abstract:Extending the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for studying the e-learning acceptance is not a new research topic, and it has been tackled by many scholars. However, the development of a comprehensive TAM that could be able to examine the e-learning acceptance under any circumstances is regarded to be an essential research direction. To identify the most widely used external factors of the TAM concerning the e-learning acceptance, a literature review comprising of 120 significant published studies from the last twelve years was conducted. The review analysis indicated that computer self-efficacy, subjective/social norm, perceived enjoyment, system quality, information quality, content quality, accessibility, and computer playfulness were the most common external factors of TAM. Accordingly, the TAM has been extended by the aforementioned factors to examine the students' acceptance of e-learning in five different universities in the United Arab of Emirates (UAE). A total of 435 students participated in the study. The results indicated that system quality, computer self-efficacy, and computer playfulness have a significant impact on perceived ease of use of e-learning system. Furthermore, information quality, perceived enjoyment, and accessibility were found to have a positive influence on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of e-learning system.

Abstract:Aim/Purpose: This study seeks to investigate the factors that influence online students’ continued usage intention toward e-learning systems by presenting an extended model that is based on the Delone and McLean (2003) IS success model (D&M ISS model). Background: The use of e-learning systems in this era has become a vital element of delivering higher education. Learning via e-learning systems has significant benefits that support conventional learning. Thus, it is crucial to measure the success of e-learning systems’ implementation. Methodology: This study was conducted with 590 undergraduate and postgraduate students from three private universities in Jordan, and data was gathered via an online self-report questionnaire. Contribution: Theoretically, this study advances the literature and empirically examines a modified version of the D&M ISS model by including context-specific factors that are drivers of successful implementations of e-learning systems. Findings: The path analysis with structural equation modelling confirms that students’ satisfaction and their continued usage intention regarding the e-learning system are positively related to service quality, system quality, and information quality. Self-directed learning, however, has a negative effect on satisfaction and continued usage intention. Furthermore, the findings reveal that both satisfaction and continued usage intention positively influence students’ perceptions of perceived academic performance. Recommendations for Practitioners: The quality of learning content format and design are recognized as fundamental factors for e-learning success. Thus, both instructors and e-learning developers should provide reliable, accurate, and up-to-date learning materials. This directs e-learning developers toward designing systems with simple and useful functionalities that embrace the essential features that enable students to perform the required tasks effectively and to access and share learning materials flexibly. Furthermore, the current study reveals that self-directed learning (SDL) is a key barrier to successful e-learning system employment. It has a negative impact on satisfaction (SAT) and continued usage intention (CUI). Thus, developing students’ skills related to SDL is deemed a necessity. This could be attained by designing contemporary pedagogical curricula that are based on student-centered learning. This approach to learning encourages students to acquire self-regulatory skills and be accountable for their learning. This environment has to be supported by pedagogical tools (e.g., synchronous/asynchronous communication channels and multimedia tools) to enable effective interaction between instructors and students. Recommendation for Researchers: The current study does not investigate the role of potential moderators that might influence the research model’s relationships. Future studies might tackle such limitation by examining the moderating effect of computer self-efficacy and culture. Impact on Society: This study reveals that the success of e-learning systems depends not only on the quality of the information, system, and service but also on student self-directed learning. Future Research: The sample employed for this study was selected from three private universities in Jordan; consequently, the results cannot be generalized to the entire student population of Jordan. Further research, therefore, should focus on targeting a larger scope by including public universities, which in turn would enhance the generalizability of the findings. In addition, this cross-sectional study was conducted using a quantitative method based on the use of self-reported online survey to gather data. Thus, future research should consider longitudinal study that employs a mixed methods approach to reveal additional constructs and insights regarding e-learning system adoption by students.

Abstract:Learning Management System is a software-based technology that is widely adopted by universities. While the implementation of LMS has been successful in developed countries, the utilisation of LMS in developing countries is still considered low. It is believed that there are some barriers that may influence the use of LMS which include Technical Support, Instructional Design and Self-Efficacy. The present research aims at examining the influence of these factors on students’ use of LMS. Thus, a research model will be developed based on extending Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Using the Stratified Random Sampling (SRS), 400 students were selected from three Saudi universities. The participants completed the survey questionnaire that measures their responses to the seven constructs. The data was analysed using Structural Equation Modelling by AMOS. The results showed that the three proposed external factors including technical support, instructional design and perceived self-efficacy had a significant influence on students’ use of LMS. These factors had significant direct effects on both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of LMS. The results confirmed the validity of the extended TAM model in determining users’ usage of LMS. The study also addressed several significant implications for the practitioners and researchers in the field.

Abstract:The widespread and affordability of multimedia devices such as computers, smartphones and iPads among others has now facilitated teaching and learning to take place in formal as well as informal settings. The teaching and learning process can now be encaged at any time from any part of the globe and open to all through the use of hardware and software, converging teacher and students in an online platform. This study has as objective to examine factors that amplify the adoption of Learning Management Systems, especially after the outbreak of COVID -19 which called for social distancing that left many schools on the global platform in a state of pandemonium. The sudden shutdown of schools and the need to ensure continuity in schooling left no option for institutions at all levels to adopt the new technology of learning online. The changing trends in education have enabled the development of ubiquitous Learning Management System (LMS) to resolve the challenge of continuous schooling in the face of crisis. LMS is a virtual environment designed to connect teachers and students in an online platform. This study which used qualitative descriptive method with an emphasis on thematic content analysis seeks to investigate enabling factors for the integration of LMS in the 21st century classroom. Informants consisted of 8 teachers drawn from two private universities. The findings of the study revealed that critical factors, classified as technology factors, social influence factors and human factors will influence the integration of LMS in the school. This paper therefore provides insight of enabling factors and hence learning effectiveness.

Abstract:Currently, social media is ubiquitous and essential for social networking and content sharing. It is an effective platform for teaching and learning in higher education and provides a novel way to communicate between instructors and pupils. Thus, the purpose of this study was to present a research framework to examine students’ motivation to adopt an e-learning system with social medial platforms. This cross-sectional study used the questionnaire to collect data from the students in Taiwan. A framework has examined students’ motivation to adopt an e-learning system with social medial platforms based on the modified technology acceptance model (TAM) and technology threat avoidance theory (TTAT). The research framework was evaluated by structural equation modeling (SEM) and represented by Smart-PLS. A total of 262 valid responses were used for statistical analysis. The results recommended modified research model explains 77.0% of the variance of motivation to adopt (R2 = 0.77). The findings also supported perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived cost, perceived effectiveness, and self-efficacy significantly influenced students’ motivation to use. Results also indicated threat appraisal, perceived susceptibility, and perceived severity are not significant factors for predicting students’ motivation to adopt e-learning in higher education.
