Insecticide and Acaricide Tests

Abstract:Abstract Cucumber seeds were planted on 20 May in Sunderland, Mass., at 8 in between plants and 5 ft between rows. Soil type was a sandy loam and the pH was 6.4. Fertilizer (1,000 lb lOn: lOp: lOk/acre) was broadcast and incorporated before planting. The plots were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. Each plot was two rows wide and 20 ft long. A single application of all insecticides was made on 15 June. There was an average of 3.75 feeding holes per plant on 15 June when the plants were in the three true leaf stage. The preapplication count included feeding damage to the cotyledons and the true leaves and most of the feeding damage was to the cotyledons. The postapplication count on 20 June only included damage to the true leaves and the plants in the four true leaf stage.
