Abstract:Air springs are widely used by automotive manufacturers due to their lightweight, low noise, and superior shock absorption properties. Since the cord layers play a decisive role in the static and dynamic characteristics of the membrane air spring, this article establishes a numerical simulation model of the membrane air spring to investigate the relationship between five structural parameters—the number of cord layers, diameter, angle, layer spacing, and strip spacing—and the static and dynamic characteristics of the air spring. The results indicate that the number of layers, angle, diameter, layer spacing, and strip spacing all have varying degrees of influence on the load and dynamic stiffness of the air spring. Among them, the angle and diameter have a more significant impact on the load. As the diameter and layer spacing increase, the dynamic stiffness decreases. When the initial internal pressure is low, a larger cord angle results in lower dynamic stiffness, and the dynamic stiffness decreases as the strip spacing increases. When the initial internal pressure is high, a larger cord angle leads to higher dynamic stiffness, and the dynamic stiffness increases with increased strip spacing. Furthermore, under conditions of low initial internal pressure and low frequency, the dynamic stiffness increases as the number of cord layers increases. However, as the frequency or initial internal pressure increases, the dynamic stiffness decreases with the addition of cord layers.
