Enterprise systems, emerging technologies, and the data-driven knowledge organisation

Abstract:Enterprise Systems have become a critical feature of organisations not only for their integrative functions but also because they have become collectors and repositories of organisational data. In the past, this data was subject to relatively simplistic analysis, which could provide important but still basic information for management decision-making. With the emergence of new technologies, both data collection and analysis have become increasingly sophisticated and varied. This has led to significant improvements in the quality and timeliness of the information that can be used by management in decision-making and strategic planning. Even how managers use this information is being shaped by technologies that can augment human knowledge to further improve decision-making. With reviewing the literature, this editorial paper explains the scope of emerging technology, enterprise systems and the impacts on knowledge management and briefly introduces the articles included in this issue.
