Abstract:In 1994, the UNESCO Salamanca Statement called for education for all and for inclusive practices to be the norm (UNESCO 1994). More than twenty-five years later, as classrooms are becoming increasingly diverse, the call for an inclusive approach to education seems to be more relevant than ever. Successful inclusion, in contrast to integration, not only refers to children with neurodiverse educational needs such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia but also to learners with different social class identities, other dominant or home languages, and diverse gender expressions (cf.
