Abstract:BACKGROUND The factors of eHealth literacy are unclear. The relationship between intrinsic capacity and eHealth literacy needs to evaluate. OBJECTIVE The study aims to evaluate the level and factors of eHealth literacy, and investigate the association between intrinsic capacity and eHealth literacy among hospitalized older people. METHODS Data was collected from January to February 2021 in two hospitals, Hunan, China. Intrinsic capacity and eHealth literacy were assessed using validated questionnaire recommended by WHO and eHEALS scale. One-way analysis of variance was used to identify the factors of eHealth literacy. Multiple linear regression was used to examine the association between intrinsic capacity and eHealth literacy. RESULTS The mean score of eHealth literacy and IC were 6.56±1.59, 19.10±10.65 respectively. The eHEALS score differed significantly (P<0.05) with respect to age, residence, education, retirement, individual income level, medical insurance, taking medication, pension insurance, self-reported health, grandchild caregiver. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that higher level of intrinsic capacity, locomotion, cognition, vitality and psychology were significantly related to higher eHealth literacy. Cognition was most associated with eHealth literacy CONCLUSIONS Intrinsic capacity was related to eHealth literacy. Improving intrinsic capacity could be an effective way to boost eHealth literacy among hospitalized older adults.
