Abstract:Developing an effective strategy to prevent metal electrocatalysts from agglomeration and corrosion in nano scale is paramount importance in the field of electrocatalysis. In this paper, nitrogen doped carbon nanotubes (NCNTs) with Ni encapsulation in situ grafting on CoNi metal organic framework (CoNi-MOF) is controllable synthesized by two-step calcination (named CoNi@NC/NCNTs). Characterization analysis reveal that CoNi@NC-NCNTs multicomponent heterostructure not only retain independent MOF basic structure, but also possess interconnected three-dimensional spatial framework. The size of CoNi alloy encapsulation onto carbon matrix is less than 10nm, and the crystallization degree of coated graphene carbon layer is extraordinary high. Especially,NCNTs in situ generated on the CoNi@NC framework in the atmosphere of dihydrodiamine vapour to form a spatial conductive network, which make the optimized CoNi@NC/NCNTs-400 (peak potential at 0.62V) deliver faster catalytic kinetics toward methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) compared with the CoNi@NC and Co@NC (peak potential at 0.94V). The peak current density is as high as 187.2 mAcm-2 at the scanning rate is 75 mVs-1 in 0.5MKOH +1MCH3OH solution. The satisfactory electrocatalytic activity is ascribed to the synergetic effect between CoNi nanoparticles embedded in nitrogen-doped carbon framework and NCNTs with Ni encapsulation, which includes the high conductivity, highly dispersed active sites, optimized electronic configuration and reaction pathways.
