An Integrated Method of 3D Garment Design

Abstract:We present an intuitive method that seamlessly integrates the whole process of garment design including 3D modeling, pattern development, garment simulation, and grading. Firstly, a sketch-based modeling method is proposed to design a 3D garment using editable control curves. Secondly, 2D patterns are developed by flattening 3D surface patches, then a 3D fine garment is formed directly based on the information of sewing relations and correspondence between 3D surfaces and 2D patterns. Lastly, garment templates are introduced to realize automatic design-preserving transfer of garments between human bodies with different sizes and shapes. The method is able to design 3D garments and 2D patterns efficiently and accurately. Our study provides an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use tool for both fashion designers and computer artists.

Abstract:The paper presents a panel-based robotic mannequin for garment fitting. This robot can deform the shell panels and change their positions to simulate different consumers' body shapes. Then it will replace consumers to try on the clothes remotely, so as to avoid the troubles caused by geographical location. This paper mainly introduces the structural design and optimization of a new fitting robot, which comprises the optimization of the shell panels, the design of the mechanical structure, and the optimization of the control system. Furthermore, to obtain the fitting results of different body postures, we design a detachable arm structure. Based on the above work, we develop a new prototype of the female robotic mannequin. The testing results show that the accuracy of the deformation and the stability of the whole structure are improved. The fitting robot can accurately simulate most of the female human bodies and smoothly complete the remote fitting process. It can be applied to garment e-commerce, personalized customization and virtual fitting.

Abstract:At this stage, the requirements for refined production management of enterprises are getting higher and higher, and the amount of data has also increased significantly. The traditional management model has been unable to meet the requirements of the new era. In order to further improve the efficiency of enterprise management, enterprises have begun to introduce and apply new technologies such as networking and sensors are used to build a clothing intelligent manufacturing system. Aiming at the complexity and demand uncertainty of multiple batches and types of fabrics in clothing enterprises, a method for mining association rules of clothing fabrics based on a priori algorithm is proposed. First, multi-dimensionally merge the fabric attribute information of multiple batches and types of enterprises. Then, traverse the frequent itemsets generated by the fabric collection and calculate the support respectively. At the same time, applying artificial intelligence technology to clothing manufacturing can achieve the goal of saving human and financial resources and improving labor efficiency by combining artificial intelligence technology with machine sewing. It is believed that in the next few years, artificial intelligence will become the main interactive interface between enterprises and customers, with artificial intelligence dynamic adaptive intelligent manufacturing as the platform side, and modular intelligent manufacturing units as the manufacturing side, to achieve dynamic interaction with the customer demand side, Improve customer satisfaction and achieve real smart clothing manufacturing. It is revealed that the new business model of the clothing industry brought by cloud customization services brings new changes to enterprises and customers, making customers change from passive consumption to active consumption, allowing enterprises to take customer needs as the starting point, actively select consumer groups, and respond to the possible occurrences in practice. To put forward suggestions to promote Chinese clothing enterprises to innovate service concepts, pay attention to responsibility and experience, enhance brand building, and seek greater enterprise benefits.

Abstract:Expounding the importance of popular elements in fashion design,the paper proposed an assistant fashion design model based on case-based reasoning(CBR) and Markov prediction(MP),attempting to solve the issue of intelligent fashion design that the modern fashion enterprises are faced with.The model has combined information technology′s advantages(large capacity memory,high speed operation and detail analysis ability) with designer′s empirical subjective judgement.According to the forecast popular elements set from MP model,reasonable popular elements composition(fashion trend) was obtained through trend analysis.The fashion trend was obtained by CBR search in design case library and,design results,by designer′s modification and integration.Finally,the model was verified by practical applications in enterprise.

Abstract:The application of artificial intelligence technology not only realizes the transformation of people's production and lifestyle but also promotes the transformation of the clothing industry. At present, the proportion of artificial intelligence in the clothing industry is becoming larger and larger. Using its advanced methods and technologies of information display and data analysis, this study is worth transforming and optimizing the clothing graphic design system under the artificial intelligence environment, so as to promote the intelligent development of the clothing industry. This study proposes to use three-dimensional image analysis algorithm technology to guide the integration of garment graphic design process and computer network, which is helpful to analyze and solve the imbalance between the singularity of traditional garment pattern design and people's aesthetic appreciation at present. Using the technology and principle of artificial intelligence for reference, the intelligent clothing graphic design system is constructed and analyzed. In the analysis of the clothing graphic design system of a group, the group applied artificial intelligence technology to the customized clothing in the production workshop of the company. Although the efficiency of the adjustment system is not as good as that of mass production, it eliminates inventory, and its net profit can reach 20–30%, which is much higher than that of traditional clothing. In contrast, the industry reported a net profit of 12% of the highest level. Therefore, it is urgent to analyze the intelligent garment graphic design system through artificial intelligence technology.

Abstract:Clothing CAD technology is a bridge that combines clothing design and high technology, and is one of the important fields of computer science and technology in the art kingdom. The style-based intelligent clothing style structure design system studied in this paper is mainly for users or design lovers who are not major in clothing design, so that they can realize the intelligent design of a certain style and style series in the friendly human-computer interaction, thereby replacing the Traditional designer hand creation process. This paper presents the system architecture, designs and completes the interactive interface, analyzes and implements the automatic splicing and adjustment functions of style components provided by the system, and explores and implements style-based style retrieval. Through the overall analysis of the intelligent clothing style structure design system, this paper develops a very good clothing design interface with VC. The author innovatively proposes the idea of "primitive structure" and "function simulation", and realizes the process of using computer to draw clothing accessories, so that the generated accessories can be accurately fitted along the given curve during clothing design, and provides the interface parameters make clothing accessories adjustable and controllable, which better realizes intelligence and facilitates the use of the client.

Abstract:After the main problems in the Mass Production of Custom-tailor Apparel (MPoCtA) are analyzed, the architecture of the integrated information system based on network for the mass production is put forward, and main business processes related to the integration and its shared data and information are discussed. Then rule-based knowledge base techniques in MPoCtA and its practice in the automatic transformation of apparel pattern are elaborated. Finally, a system of custom-tailor apparel in one company is introduced, which integrates the design, production and distribution. The accuracy of transformation of apparel pattern in this system reached 90%.

Abstract:With the upgrading of intelligent manufacturing, industrial robots will play an important role in the garment industry. The purpose of this article was to study the pattern and style based on the integration of artificial intelligence and clothing design. In this article, the digital modeling of clothing design and the case analysis of intelligent clothing design are described using the method of comparative experiment. The experimental results are obtained from the analysis of fuzzy number of clothing design language evaluation, three-dimensional human body construction clothing size, clothing design elements and auxiliary functions, and the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of clothing design system. The popular clothing sample is D4 (0.4862), which is 20% higher than other products. It can be concluded that the model proposed in this article can grasp the needs of consumers and select the right one according to the market positioning. The fabric mass production fashion brand can significantly improve the efficiency and satisfaction of the fabric selection decision-making process. It provides enough technical support and style model for intelligent clothing design.

Abstract:In the traditional clothing customization system, only the designer participates in the clothing design, and the style is single. In the face of numerous styles, the user just repeatedly arranges and combines the styles, but does not realize the user’s innovative design. In this paper, we propose a novel multitask deep convolutional neural network training method for task-by-task transfer learning, and learn deep image features for image retrieval tasks on noisy user click data. Image retrieval model based on image-text multimodal correlation features: this paper uses image-text multimodal correlation features to calculate the correlation between query keywords and images, and calculates the correlation between images and images. In this paper, the method of automatic generation of clothing style is researched, and parameterized coding is designed for it. Taking the typical style of suits as the initial population, through the human-computer interaction interface, the scoring value is assigned to the fitness value to carry out the evolution process. The binary string of the suit style generated by the genetic algorithm is decoded through the decoding algorithm and rules, decoded into a visual style diagram of the style of the suit style, and the style diagram of the suit style is automatically drawn. From the perspective of clothing design, this paper summarizes the general design methods of outdoor sports smart clothing, follows the integration of people-clothing-environment, and proposes a wearer-centered design concept to deeply explore the rationality of outdoor sports smart clothing design methods. This paper further solves the key problems in the design process, and takes the fashion of clothing as the core principle to design the structure of clothing modeling. The fabric selection of suits is based on the principle of clothing comfort. The key is to realize the outdoor sports monitoring function of suits through sensing technology. The design uses Arduino as an electronic prototype platform, so as to detect the heart rate of the human body during exercise and the microclimate temperature under the clothes. This kind of suit with monitoring function is ultimately a combination of sensing device and clothing. It not only has monitoring function, but also has the aesthetic concept of clothing design and conforms to the performance of human body structure, which will provide reference and reference for the design of outdoor sports smart clothing.

Abstract:This paper put forward a new interactive design approach for customized garments towards sustainable fashion using machine learning techniques, including radial basis function artificial neural network (RBF ANN), genetic algorithms (GA), probabilistic neural network (PNN), and support vector regression (SVR). First, RBF ANNs were employed to estimate the detailed human body dimensions to fulfill consumers' ergonomics requirements. Next, the GA-based models were developed to generate the formalized design solutions following the consumer profiles (demands). Afterwards, the evaluation model was established to quantitatively characterize the relations between consumer profiles and garment profiles from the generated design solutions. The design solutions would be digitally demonstrated and recommended to the consumer following the evaluation results in descending order. Meanwhile, the PNN-based models were created to predict garment fitness based on virtual try-on. Moreover, the SVR-based self-adjustment mechanism was built to estimate and control garment design parameters according to the consumer's feedback. Based on these mathematical models, the approach enhances the interactions among digital garment demonstration, the designer's professional knowledge and the user's perception to find out the most relevant design solution. The effectiveness of the new approach was verified by a real application case of leisure pants customization. The results show that the proposed method can powerfully support the designers' quality personalized design solutions for consumers more accurately, fast, intelligently, and sustainably, compared with the existing approaches. More importantly, it also establishes an effective and reliable communication channel and mechanism among consumers, fashion designers, pattern designer, and garment producer.

Abstract:In the recent years, the developmental speed of intelligent technology continues to accelerate, and the research on the actual needs of users is also in depth. From the current situation of the clothing industry, how to combine artificial intelligence (AI) technology with clothing fashion has become the focus of customer's attention. The application of intelligent clothing matching recommendation system (online) can effectively meet the needs of customers in dressing matching, so as to save a lot of time and energy (offline). With the maturity of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other emerging computational technologies, the intelligent clothing matching system has laid a solid foundation. In this paper, several intelligent clothing matching recommendation systems that have been applied at present are deeply analyzed. Moreover, the basic algorithms and key technologies are elaborated in detail. In addition, the future research direction is found, so that the clothing matching recommendation system can be more personalized, and the comprehensive function is greatly improved in order to bring more ideal benefits.

Abstract:To improve the efficiency of the 3D garment design and reduce the professional requirements,a new 3D garment design method based on components and interactive genetic algorithm was proposed.Special data structures for 3D garment components were designed to fit the genetic operation.A 3D component library contains of typical 3D garment components was built by parametric modeling methods.Then,a new chromosome encoding method based on component pointer was proposed for the genetic operations of 3D garment components.Moreover,six types of constrains were introduced to ensure the genetic process correct.In addition,we introduce a mechanism for users to evaluate the garment components separately,and thus,the fitness rating value could be acquired more accurately.Experiment results shows that our method is more feasible and applicable.

Abstract:Industrial special clothing refers to the clothing worn by employees of industrial enterprises and departments in order to dress uniformly, facilitate work, or protect their bodies from external injuries. They have the common characteristics of practicality and identification. This kind of clothing includes many styles, such as uniforms, shirts, jackets, overalls, skirts, aprons, and headscarves, which are also applicable in different fields. For example, the clothing for high-temperature operation requires high temperature resistance and comfort, while the clothing for high-altitude operation requires high clothing strength and can play a protective role. General interactive genetic algorithm only supports single user evaluation. The results can only reflect the preferences of a single user. The product designed by interactive genetic algorithm needs to meet the needs of as many users as possible, and a multiuser interactive genetic algorithm suitable for population design is proposed. The detailed design of three main modules of the algorithm, namely, population initialization module, single population module, and multipopulation module, is given. Finally, the algorithm and the general single user interactive genetic algorithm are applied to the garment design system for comparative experiments. The effectiveness of the algorithm in group design is verified.

Abstract:In the context of fashion/textile innovations towards Industry 4.0, a variety of digital technologies, such as 3D garment CAD, have been proposed to automate, optimize design and manufacturing processes in the organizations of involved enterprises and supply chains as well as services such as marketing and sales. However, the current digital solutions rarely deal with key elements used in the fashion industry, including professional knowledge, as well as fashion and functional requirements of the customer and their relations with product technical parameters. Especially, product design plays an essential role in the whole fashion supply chain and should be paid more attention to in the process of digitalization and intelligentization of fashion companies. In this context, we originally developed an interactive fashion and garment design system by systematically integrating a number of data-driven services of garment design recommendation, 3D virtual garment fitting visualization, design knowledge base, and design parameters adjustment. This system enables close interactions between the designer, consumer, and manufacturer around the virtual product corresponding to each design solution. In this way, the complexity of the product design process can drastically be reduced by directly integrating the consumer's perception and professional designer's knowledge into the garment computer-aided design (CAD) environment. Furthermore, for a specific consumer profile, the related computations (design solution recommendation and design parameters adjustment) are performed by using a number of intelligent algorithms (BIRCH, adaptive Random Forest algorithms, and association mining) and matching with a formalized design knowledge base. The proposed interactive design system has been implemented and then exposed through the REST API, for designing garments meeting the consumer's personalized fashion requirements by repeatedly running the cycle of design recommendation-virtual garment fitting-online evaluation of designer and consumer-design parameters adjustment-design knowledge base creation, and updating. The effectiveness of the proposed system has been validated through a business case of personalized men's shirt design.

Abstract:Nowadays, as a beauty-enhancing product, clothing plays an important role in human's social life. In fact, the key to a proper outfit usually lies in the harmonious clothing matching. Nevertheless, not everyone is good at clothing matching. Fortunately, with the proliferation of fashion-oriented online communities, fashion experts can publicly share their fashion tips by showcasing their outfit compositions, where each fashion item (e.g., a top or bottom) usually has an image and context metadata (e.g., title and category). Such rich fashion data offer us a new opportunity to investigate the code in clothing matching. However, challenges co-exist with opportunities. The first challenge lies in the complicated factors, such as color, material and shape, that affect the compatibility of fashion items. Second, as each fashion item involves multiple modalities (i.e., image and text), how to cope with the heterogeneous multi-modal data also poses a great challenge. Third, our pilot study shows that the composition relation between fashion items is rather sparse, which makes traditional matrix factorization methods not applicable. Towards this end, in this work, we propose a content-based neural scheme to model the compatibility between fashion items based on the Bayesian personalized ranking (BPR) framework. The scheme is able to jointly model the coherent relation between modalities of items and their implicit matching preference. Experiments verify the effectiveness of our scheme, and we deliver deep insights that can benefit future research.
Towards Intelligent Design: A Self-Driven Framework for Collocated Clothing Synthesis Leveraging Fashion Styles and Textures

Abstract:Collocated clothing synthesis (CCS) has emerged as a pivotal topic in fashion technology, primarily concerned with the generation of a clothing item that harmoniously matches a given item. However, previous investigations have relied on using paired outfits, such as a pair of matching upper and lower clothing, to train a generative model for achieving this task. This reliance on the expertise of fashion professionals in the construction of such paired outfits has engendered a laborious and time-intensive process. In this paper, we introduce a new self-driven framework, named style- and texture-guided generative network (ST-Net), to synthesize collocated clothing without the necessity for paired outfits, leveraging self-supervised learning. ST-Net is designed to extrapolate fashion compatibility rules from the style and texture attributes of clothing, using a generative adversarial network. To facilitate the training and evaluation of our model, we have constructed a large-scale dataset specifically tailored for unsupervised CCS. Extensive experiments substantiate that our proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines in terms of both visual authenticity and fashion compatibility.
