Abstract:With the advent of fast-developing information and communication technologies and ever-growing user needs, different but cognate library, archives, and museum (LAM) professions realize that the task of preserving and communicating world heritage surpasses their institutional boundaries, and that their mission would be better accomplished if they collaborated with other institutions within and outside the cultural heritage sector. In 2008, the nature and scope of partnerships in the Croatian LAM sector were analyzed in a large national study. In this paper, the authors present a segment of this study focusing on the museum domain. Results of this research not only can help researchers and professionals to better understand, plan, and organize partnerships involving primarily museums, but also other cultural heritage institutions such as galleries, archives, and libraries.
