Abstract:New bis(diamidophosphite) ligand with stereogenic phosphorus atoms in the 1,3,2-diaza-phospholidine rings was synthesized based on (1R,2R)-[N, N′-bis(3-hydroxybenzylidene)]-1,2-diaminocyclohexane. This ligand provided up to 73% ee in Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation of (E)-1,3-diphenylallyl acetate with dimethyl malonate and up to 80% ee in its amination with pyrrolidine, with the starting substrate conversion being quantitative.

Abstract:The direct functionalization of allylic C-H bonds is distinguished by enabling rapid assembly of structural complexity from simple molecules. Although Pd-catalyzed allylic C-H functionalization has been extensively studied, the discovery of new catalytic systems remains fairly underdeveloped. Here, we disclose a Pt-catalyzed allylic C-H alkylation of a wide range of alpha-alkenes by using phosphoramidites as ligands and malononitriles as alkylating reagents. Notably, the combination of chiral ureacatalyzed Michael addition and Pt-catalyzed allylic C-H alkylation can serve as an efficient protocol to access chiral tetrahydropyran with high levels of diastereo- and enantioselectivity. Mechanistic studies suggest that the Pt-catalyzed allylic C-H activation proceeds through a concerted proton and two-electron transfer process, which is analogous to transition state geometries of Pd catalysis.

Abstract:A chiral aldehyde/palladium catalysis-enabled asymmetric α-allylation of NH(2)-unprotected amino acid esters with 1,3-disubstituted allyl acetates is described in this work. With the utilization of different chiral phosphine ligands, both the anti- and syn-selective allylation reactions are achieved enantioselectively. A series of α,α-disubstituted amino acid esters bearing two adjacent chiral centers are produced in moderate-to-excellent yields, diastereoselectivities, and enantioselectivities.

Abstract:A palladium-catalyzed C-H functionalization/intramolecular asymmetric allylation cascade of N-sulfonyl benzamides with 1,3-dienes has been developed. In the presence of a chiral pyridine-oxazoline ligand, this protocol enables the synthesis of chiral 3,4-dihydroisoquinolones in yields of up to 83% with enantioselectivities of up to 96%, using environmentally friendly air as the terminal oxidant.

Abstract:A palladium-catalyzed asymmetric tandem Heck and carbonylation of bisallyl-phosphine oxides has been developed. This desymmetrization process provided an efficient route to the simultaneous synthesis of a chiral P-stereogenic center and a chiral quaternary carbon stereocenter in good yields with good diastereo- and enantioselectivities.

Abstract:The development of transition-metal-catalyzed methods for the synthesis of P-chiral phosphine derivatives poses a considerable challenge. Herein, we present a direct Pd/Xiao-Phos-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of easily accessible secondary phosphine oxides and aryl bromides, which provides rapid access to P-chiral phosphine oxides. The reaction proceeds efficiently with a wide array of reaction partners to deliver various tertiary phosphine oxides in up to 96% yield and 97% ee. Moreover, the synthesis of DiPAMP ligand and its analogues was also realized, which demonstrates a suitable pathway to switching the branched chain of DiPAMP.

Abstract:Under catalysis by chiral phosphine, an asymmetric isomerization/annulation cascade reaction of allylamines with allenoates was realized. A wide range of γ-substituted allenoates were tolerated to afford chiral pyrroline derivatives in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities. In the reaction, isomerization of readily available N-allylamines to reactive aliphatic imines through a 1,4-proton shift is a key step, which circumvents the isolation of highly unstable alkyl N-sulfonylimines.

Abstract:A general method to obtain enantioenriched 1,3,3-triarylpropan-1-ones bearing a diarylmethine stereocenter was developed using Rh/chiral sulfinylphosphine catalyzed 1,4-addition of arylboronic acids to chalcones. The catalysis progressed smoothly in the presence of 2 mol % catalyst formed in situ from [Rh(C2H4)2Cl]2 and chiral tert-butanesulfinylphosphine and gave the adducts with up to 99% yield and 98% ee.

Abstract:Chiral phosphine-containing skeletons play a pivotal role in bioactive natural products, pharmaceuticals, chiral catalysts, and ligands. Despite considerable progress has been made in the synthesis of chiral phosphorus compounds, the development of facile and modular methods to access chiral allylic phosphorus compounds remains challenging due to the simultaneous control required for reactivity, enantioselectivity, and stereoselectivity. Herein, we present a general and modular platform to achieve the asymmetric reductive cross-coupling of α-bromophosphonates and vinyl bromides, enabling the synthesis of highly valuable chiral allylic phosphonate products with remarkable yields, enantioselectivities, and stereoselectivities.

Abstract:Transition metal-catalyzed C–H bond functionalization is an important method in organic synthesis, but the development of methods that are lower cost and have a less environmental impact is desirable. Here, a Cu-catalyzed asymmetric C(sp 2 )–H arylation is reported. With diaryliodonium salts as arylating reagents, a range of ortho -arylated P - chiral phosphonic diamides were obtained in moderate to excellent yields with high enantioselectivities (up to 92% ee). Meanwhile, enantioselective C-3 arylation of diarylphosphine oxide indoles was also realized under similar conditions to construct axial chirality.

Abstract:A chiral Brønsted acid‐catalysed asymmetric hydrophosphinylation of 2‐vinylazaarenes by secondary phosphine oxides is described. A variety of P‐chiral 2‐azaaryl‐ethylphosphine oxides are synthesized with high yields and ees, of which both the substituents of phosphines and azaarenes can be flexibly modulated, underscoring an exceptionally broad scope of substrates. These adducts are valuable to asymmetric metal catalysis since the resultant P‐chiral tertiary phosphines from the reduction of them are verified as a kind of effective C1‐symmetric chiral 1,5‐hybrid P,N‐ligands. Importantly, this catalysis platform enables the generic and efficient kinetic resolution of P‐chiral secondary phosphine oxides. It thus provides an expedient approach to access the enantiomers of the P‐chiral tertiary phosphine oxides derived from asymmetric hydrophosphinylation, further improving the utility of the method. A chiral Brønsted acid‐catalysed asymmetric hydrophosphinylation of 2‐vinylazaarenes is developed. The method provides a modular and efficient access to P‐chiral 2‐azaaryl‐ethylphosphine oxides while also realizing the precise kinetic resolution of secondary phosphine oxides. Given the verified promise of the chiral phosphines as the chiral ligands, this work considerably enriches the toolkit of asymmetric metal catalysis.

Abstract:The construction of diverse alkylamines is of importance in drug discovery and natural product synthesis. Herein, we report an efficient photoredox/palladium dual catalysis for the construction of protected 1,2-amino alcohols and 1,2-diamines via asymmetric allylation of α-silyl amines with heteroatom-substituted allenes and 1,3- dienes. This protocol is characterized by its mild conditions, excellent regio-, enantioselectivity, and wide substrate scope, including aliphatic amines or N-heterocyclic substrates especially. Computational and experimental mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction proceeds through a sequence of oxidative addition of Pd(0) catalyst by PPTS, allene insertion, outer-sphere radical substitution-type C–C bond formation, and reduction of Pd(I) by Ir(II). Thereinto, the outer-sphere radical substitution is the enantio- and regio-selectivity determining step.

Abstract:The synthesis of a novel type of chiral spiro monophosphite-olefin (SMPO) ligands based on a hexamethyl-1,1'-spirobiindane scaffold was accomplished starting from Bisphenol C. The optimal ligand could serve as an elegant chiral bidentate ligand in the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric 1,2-addition of organoboronic acids to various acyclic/cyclic aldimines, leading to chiral amines with high yields and excellent enantioselectivities. Detailed stereochemical models for enantioselective induction were elucidated through DFT calculations and postulated the origins of the higher enantioselectivity of phosphite-olefin ligands.

Abstract:Enantiomerically pure acyclic O,O-acetal compounds (up to 97 % ee) have been accessed through chemo-, regio- and enantioselective palladium-catalyzed addition of oximes to alkoxyallenes. DFT calculations support that a protonative hydropalladation pathway is favourable, in which the hydrogen bonding interaction between the amide group of the diphosphine ligand and the alkoxyallene is critical for the highly stereoselective formation of the dioxygenated stereogenic center.
