Abstract:In this work, all possible products in the reaction between N 1 -(2-amino-ethyl)-propane-1,3-diamine and 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde in the absence and presence of the nickel(II) ion, as a collector of the reagents, were studied by the theoretical and experimental methods. In continue, synthesis, characterization and coordination chemistry of two new chiral/racemic complexes of nickel(II), racemic- RS -[Ni(L)]NO 3 ( 1 ) and [Ni(L)]SCN ( 2 ); HL: 2-(((2-((3-aminopropyl)amino)ethyl)imino)methyl)phenol, obtained from a template reaction were discussed. The two complexes were identified by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray structure analysis of the ionic complexes 1 and 2 illustrates that the nickel atom in both complexes has a square planar geometry (NiN 3 O environment) formed by the coordination of three nitrogen atoms and one oxygen atom from a deprotonated L ̅. In the crystal packing of the complex 1 , in addition to the intermolecular C−H···O and N − H ···O hydrogen bonds, the crystal network further stabilized by π – π stacking interactions between phenolate ring and pi-conjugated part of the six-membered planar chelate ring. In continue, the ability of ligand and its complexes to interact with ten biomacromolecules (BRAF kinase, CatB, DNA gyrase, HDAC7, rHA, RNR, TrxR, TS, Top II and B-DNA) was investigated by docking calculations and compared with that of the doxorubicin.
