Abstract:The article is devoted to the study of the value-semantic sphere of the personality of students who are prone to the use of psychoactive substances. The importance of timely organization of corrective work to overcome addictive behavior is noted. The article examines the factors determining the occurrence of dependent behavior, the classification of motives for the formation of dependent forms of personality behavior in college age. Theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of the emergence of addictive forms of personality behavior are considered. The empirical part of the study describes the structure, methods and results of the study of the student's personality attitude to psychoactive substances. The relationship between value-semantic characteristics and attitude to psychoactive substances has been established.

Abstract:The research is devoted to the issue of ideas about self-regulation in Russian psychological science. The purpose of the study is to consider the concept of self–regulation and the current state of the topic of selfregulation in Russian science, also from the point of view of including a spiritual and moral component in its structure. A person is put in conditions where it is necessary to make an informed choice every day, so the skill of self-regulation is becoming more and more relevant in terms of survival in the circumstances of the world around them. From the perspective of the relevance of considering the topic of selfregulation, the importance of studying it in connection with the spiritual and moral qualities of the individual is emphasized. The concepts of selfregulation, definitions of self-regulation, terms, self-regulating capacities, psychophysiological and psychological concepts of self-regulation, levels of self-regulation, effects of self-regulation, spiritual aspects of selfregulation are considered. Thanks to the achievements of domestic researchers in the topic of self-regulation, the elaboration of certain aspects of the topic of self-regulation, the promotion of self-regulation concepts, their systematization of different approaches and paradigms, it was possible to see the place and role of the spiritual aspect of selfregulation in the overall process of self-regulation, continuing and sharing the idea stated by G.V. Ozhiganova.

Abstract:The article presents the materials of the inter-university roundtable “Destructive Information and Psychological Impact on Russian Youth in Social Media”, which was held on the platforms of the Center for Political Studies of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and the Federal Research and Methodological Center “Philosophy of Education” on 6th of March 2023. The paper identifies the key challenges which Russian youth faces in the context of global information confrontation. The largest information operations aimed at young people have been analyzed, the article identifies also the regions targeted by such information influence, and social and political risks that are caused by the controlled attacks on Russian society. The participants of the roundtable paid special attention to the existing technologies of countering information influence and to the measures taken by public authorities and civil society institutions to limit its negative effects.

Abstract:Introduction . The article analyzes the problem of psychological stability of the individual to socio-cultural threats and negative information impact. As social problems become more acute, the topic of personal security and resistance to emerging threats and risks takes an increasing place in the scientific literature. Today we can observe various violations of the processes of socio-cultural identification, which reduce the adaptive potential of the individual. The reverse side of accessibility in the global information environment is an increase in the degree of danger, the emergence of new risk factors and threats of information and psychological impact. Of particular concern are the facts of Russian youth joining terrorist groups, as well as the facts of youth involvement in destructive protest movements and actions. Materials and methods . The following methods were used for the preparation of this article; theoretical analysis of Russian and international literature, study of scientific articles and publications on the topic, overview of results from Russian and international studies, content analysis. Results . Approaches to determining the content of the category of psychological stability of a person and its various aspects are considered: emotional stability, moral stability, moral stability, stability of behavior forms, resistance to addictive factors, and socio-cultural stability. Identify invariant indicators that determine the psychological stability of the individual in various contexts of countering socio-cultural threats and negative information impact: socio-cultural identity based on views, beliefs, attitudes consistent with moral norms and spiritual values; motivation of the individual to self-actualization, success, openness and commitment to society; subjective well-being and resilience; critical thinking and the ability to predict risks and threats; possession of constructive coping strategies; adaptive personal potential expressed in mastering self-regulation methods that ensure successful adaptation to a changing socio-cultural environment. Discussion and Conclusions . The conducted theoretical research allowed us to conclude that the psychological stability of a person is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, which is revealed in the moral, socio-psychological and system-activity perspective. It is concluded that the task of forming psychological stability and personal adaptive potential should be updated in the educational system, including the formation of knowledge about oneself as a person, about their psychological capabilities and mechanisms of self-regulation, and the explanation of moral norms and values.
Psychological strategies and types of financial behavior of students at different Russian universities

Abstract:The article presents the results of empirical research aimed at a comparative analysis of financial behavior strategies and economic aspirations of Russian students (N = 80, age 19–20 years) studying at metropolitan and regional universities (Saratov and Moscow). As methods of research were used survey and testing (questionnaire of subjective economic well-being V. A. Khashchenko; test of dispositional optimism in modification of T. O. Gordeeva, O. A. Sychev, E. N. Osin; questionnaire of self-organization of activity in E. Yu. Mandrikova adaptation; Schwarz portrait questionnaire). In two groups of students both similarities (determinants of financial behavior, economically cautious strategy of budget management, avoidance of financial risk, small savings practices, financial infantilism, lack of financial awareness, attractiveness of some forms of investment, optimism expression, similarity of profiles of value orientations) and differences (personal budget structuring, economic aspirations and dream, readiness to take financial risk) were found. It is asserted that the identified similarities are determined by the respondents’ affiliation with a certain social group, while the differences are caused by the subcultural features of the territory of study and residence. Based on the assessment of subjective economic well-being and life prospects, configuration of value orientations, specifics of strategic goal-setting, the typology of financial behavior of students studying at different universities is proposed. The applied aspect of the problem under study consists in the possibility of using the results in the development of programs of socio-psychological adaptation of students to the conditions of learning and living; educational programs aimed at eliminating economic illiteracy of students; programs of psychological support and student counseling.

Abstract:Currently, climate change under the influence of the dynamic processes of the Earth, external influences and human activities is a global and urgent problem. Most of the countries of the world are aware of the partial responsibility of mankind for environmental changes and direct their actions towards the preservation and protection of the environment. One of the directions in the fight against climate change or in adaptation to them is the promotion of ideas of environmental consciousness and environmental behavior. This article discusses scientific sources from the Scopus, Web of Science and RSCI databases over the past three years. The main purpose of this review is to identify the main characteristics of both phenomena in world and Russian psychological studies of environmental consciousness and environmental behavior.

Abstract:Problem and purpose. Along with the obvious benefits, the digitalization of society carries its own risks. At the same time, in modern psychology there is not enough information about the differences in representations of such risks in different cultures. The purpose of the article is to empirically verify the assumption about the dependence of risk perceptions on the socio-cultural context. Methodology. The empirical part of the study was carried out through questionnaires, collected in different universities in three countries during academic and scientific visits (Russia: n = 112, Romania: n = 94, Brazil: n = 98) and drafting the evaluation reports of social risks perceptions (Abric coefficient). During the translation of the questionnaires, we used the focus group method and the method of translation of psychodiagnostic tools and questionnaires (S.V. Kudrya). Results. The data obtained showed that perceptions of risks depend on general perceptions of risks in the culture of a given country, legislation in the field of Internet security, as well as the duration and experience of interaction in social networks of the Internet. Thus, the" core " of the social representation of Russian and Romanian students about the results of risky behavior on the Internet are unproductive behavior in the information environment (TCP-92); demonstration of indifference (TCP-78) or aggressiveness (TCP-75), and for the Brazilian sample, the demonstration of psychological affliction is more typical (TCP-65). In addition, the lexical-semantic analysis of terms and concepts in the field of riskology used for empirical survey of students showed the presence of semantic cross-cultural differences in their understanding. Discussion and conclusion. The data obtained allow us to say that social perceptions of risks are influenced by socio-cultural and legislative peculiarities: the empirical part of the study showed a clear difference between the “core” and “periphery” both in the cross-cultural dimension and within the country samples. The lexico-semantic analysis of risk-generating behavioral patterns and ideas about risks showed cultural (linguistic) differences in this area and the need not only for adaptation and verification of diagnostic tools, but also for clarifying the meaning of various risk factors in the verbal plan.

Cultural and educational environment in the development of younger schoolchildren's creative potential

Abstract:The purpose of our research is to study the creative potential as psychological capacities for younger schoolchildren's creative self-realization and self-development in various conditions of the educational environment. The methodological basis of this work is Vygotsky's conceptual provisions according to which the human psyche is culturally determined, and a sociocultural environment is considered to be the main source and condition for the child's mental development. The study involved younger schoolchildren (a total of 160 children from the 4th grade aged 9-10 years, n = 160, M = 9.5 years, SD = 2.6; 49% boys) from schools in Kazan (Russian Federation). We used a test of verbal creativity when studying the creative potential of younger schoolchildren, the proposed method is a Russian-language adapted version of the RAT test (remote association test) by Mednik. The Johnson Creativity Inventory was used as adapted by Tunick. To study the level of communicative control, the test "Diagnostics of communicative control" by Schneider was used. To assess the personal qualities of younger students, we used a modified version of the children's personality questionnaire intended for 8-12 year-old children and developed by Cattell and Koan. As a result of a comprehensive expert assessment, we identified four types of schools with different severity degrees of essential characteristics of educational environments: serene, dogmatic, career and creative. According to the analysis of variance (one-dimensional one-factor ANOVA), the younger schoolchildren's creative potential was revealed in the context of the educational environment variability and the contingency of the educational environment parameters with the personal characteristics of the children. We have empirically confirmed that in a creative educational environment with cultural content based on ethno-cultural values, patterns and norms, the development of the child is actively supported largely, with the disclosure of his creative potential. Younger schoolchildren are characterized by greater subjective agency and the capability to gain unique achievements in educational and cognitive activity.
Building Conceptions of Cognitive Enhancement: University Students’ Views on the Effects of Pharmacological Cognitive Enhancers

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Use of prescription stimulants for cognitive enhancement in healthy individuals has been of growing interest to the academic community. University students can be prone to use these pharmacological cognitive enhancers (PCEs) for their perceived academic benefits.OBJECTIVES: We aimed to understand university students' beliefs about the factors influencing PCE use, the cognitive and health effects of the drugs, and how these conceptions are interrelated.METHODS: Data were collected through focus groups with 45 students at the University of Toronto in 2015/2016. We used thematic analysis to extract key themes and cooccurrence coefficients to evaluate the overlap between these themes.RESULTS: We found that participants perceived users as either struggling students or high-achieving ones. Alleged benefits of PCEs included enhanced focus, attention, memorization, and grades, but did not include increased intelligence or long-term cognitive enhancement. Participants disagreed on whether ADHD diagnosis would affect how PCEs worked and how "needing the drug" was determined. Mentions of nonspecific side effects were common, as was the possibility of misuse (e.g., addiction, abuse). Though not an initial aim of the study, we uncovered patterns pertaining to whom participants used as sources of information about different themes. We propose that social learning theory provides a useful framework to explain how the experiences of peers may shape the conceptions of our participants. Conclusions/Importance: Our findings highlight that conceptions surrounding PCEs are multileveled, and informed by a variety of sources, including peers. This should be considered in the development of interventions geared toward university students.

Use of psychoactive substances among university students from 2019 to 2020: A systematic review

Abstract:Psychoactive substances act on the central nervous system producing changes in mental processes, such as perception, consciousness, cognition or mood and emotions. The present study aims to identify: (i) the most used psychoactive substances, (ii) how psychoactive substances are acquired, (iii) and possible reasons for the use of psychoactive substances amongst university students. A literature search was carried out without language restrictions and included articles published between 2019 and 2020 in journals indexed in the electronic databases of Pubmed and Scielo. The inclusion criteria considered were: (i) original articles, (ii) studies carried out with university students, (iii) providing data on the use of psychoactive substances. 15 studies were included in this review, of which: 4 studies addressed possible reasons that lead to use of psychoactive substances, 10 studies reported usage profile and demographic data, and 1 study addressed how students acquire psychoactive substances. Reasons that led to the consumption of psychoactive substances include: feelings of loneliness after moving away from family; difficulty making new friends; poor academic performance and susceptible environment to acquisition of these substances. In the selected studies, alcohol was identified as the main drug used. In light of the findings reported in this review, new prevention and harm reduction measures can be formulated, based mainly on the reasons that lead to the use of psychoactive drugs, consumption patterns and how the drugs were acquired by university students.
Regulatory and Personality Resources of Psychological Well-being and Academic Achievement of Elementary School Students: Differential Psychological Aspect

Abstract:The article describes an empirical study which had the task to consider the differential aspects of the relationship between conscious self-regulation, psychological well-being, and academic performance of younger students. The study sample consisted of the 4th grade students of Russian secondary schools (N=372). The study implemented three questionnaires to assess the students’ individual characteristics: conscious self-regulation (“Self-Regulation Profile Questionnaire – Junior” (V.I. Morosanova, I.N. Bondarenko), psychological well-being (“Scale of Manifestations of Psychological Well-being of Adolescents” Russian adaptation Morosanova et al.), personality features ("Big Five – the Children's Version", Russian adaptation by S.B. Malykh et al.). The average annual score in the main academic subjects was taken as a criterion for academic performance. Cluster analysis revealed three groups of students characterized by significantly different levels of the studied parameters. Students with the lowest achievement and well-being scores have higher neuroticism scores, and lower scores on the openness to experience, conscientiousness, friendliness and extraversion, and conscious self-regulation. The study results allowed to identify specific regulatory and personality resources of psychological well-being and academic performance of students in the selected groups. The analysis made it possible to substantiate recommendations and specific practical ways of developing conscious self-regulation as a resource for maintaining psychological well-being and improving academic performance of younger students.
Advanced Concepts of the Role of Social Factors in the Development of Internet Addiction Behavior in Children and Adolescents (Based on Foreign Studies)

Abstract:Objective. To analyze the currently available data on social risk factors and their influence on the IA development process and to evaluate possible prospects for further research in the field of Internet addiction behavior in children and adolescents.Background. The excessive Internet use among children and adolescents is known to be a serious public health problem, however, the influence factors and the mechanisms of Internet addiction (IA) remain largely unknown. The importance of social factors in the formation of addictive behavior is undeniable, and currently there seems to be an extremely little information of this kind of research. So far many mechanisms explaining the contribution of family and school factors to the development of IA have not been identified. The question remains open why, with the same conditions of upbringing, some adolescents develop IA, while others do not.Conclusions. The quality of family relationships and the school environment have a significant impact on the IA development process in young people, which is mediated through the development of certain character traits that either facilitate for social norms and rules to be acquired or encourage the addictive behavior. However, social factors of influence cannot be considered to be absolute. The presence in adolescents of such qualities as a high level of self-control and volitional self-regulation provide the resilience to the IA development process. The phenomenon of resilience is an extremely urgent but poorly studied area, which determines the prospects for further scientific research, including the problem of Internet addiction behavior in children and adolescents.
Digital Educational Content in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language (Psychological and Pedagogical Aspects)

Abstract:The digital educational environment in teaching Russian as a foreign language allows you to activate the maximum number of representation systems, making the learning process more dynamic and increasing motivation to learn the Russian language. Stereoscopic and polysensory perception, which arises as a result of a combination of a visual image and a listening text, has a positive effect on both the consolidation of knowledge and the emotional intelligence of students. The article analyzes the psychological characteristics of the trained contingent. For example, the differentiation of perception based on the elements of a representative system of information presentation: visual (visual perception), kinesthetic (tactile sensations), auditory (auditory perception), polymodal (thinking processes). On this basis, we can see how the presentation of educational material changes and how types of memory are formed: motor, figurative and logical. Considering the interaction of the teaching and learning side in a virtual socio-cultural environment, we should focus on establishing a creative type of interaction, when the positions of both subjects of the educational process make the most of the didactic potential of the virtual environment. Only in this case the process of teaching the Russian language will be successful.

Abstract:Purpose: a review of domestic and foreign studies in the field of the formation of Internet addiction in adolescents. Materials and methods. The article presents a review of the literature and analyzes scientific research on the prevalence of Internet addiction, the formation of Internet addiction and the individual psychological characteristics of adolescents according to researchers from various countries. The authors of the article conducted a scientific search using the relevant keywords in PubMed and Google Scholar search engines, in databases for searching scientific information: RFBR Library, PsyJournals, PsyArxiv, Scopus, Web of Science, MedLine, The Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Global Health, CyberLeninka, RSCI (eLIBRARY.RU) and others. Results. To study the presence of Internet addiction and its types, surveys are used in research ("Chen Internet Addiction Scale" (CIAS), "Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents" (GASA) and "The Social Media Disorder Scale" (SMDS), Russian-language versions of questionnaires), psychological testing and psychological observation. Significant risk factors for Internet addiction in adolescents are: high excitability (irritability, nervousness); decrease in self-control (decrease in the manifestation of one's own emotions and motivations for activity); emotional instability (mood swings, impulsiveness, inconsistency of actions); anxiety-depressive conditions; tendency to introversion according to a complex of personality traits; insufficient development of emotional (social) intelligence (perception, use, understanding and management of emotions), difficulties in the educational process. Conclusion. Early warning of the development of Internet addiction should be carried out in educational institutions. Personalized prevention of Internet addiction in the adolescent age group is the most effective and can significantly reduce the incidence. A qualified psychologist can identify a tendency to addictive behavior in adolescents. Educate children and adolescents in the reasonable use of technology. More research is needed in adolescents to better identify commonalities and different types of Internet content addiction.
Environmental attitudes and contextual stimuli in emerging environmental culture: An empirical study from Russia

Abstract:<p>Social behavior patterns and individual actions inevitably impact the state of the environment in the world. This impact turns out to be especially critical when the environmental culture is emerging and there are no positive social inducements. Based on a randomized experimental design, this research outlines how some psychological factors such as attitudes and contextual stimuli influence the tendency towards pro-environmental behavior. Four kinds of everyday pro-environmental behavior (recycling, eco-shopping, resource-saving, eco-mobility) were examined with respect to early studies concerning societies with emerging markets. Also, the homogeneity of such pro-environmental behaviors was investigated, as well as their resistance to contextual stimuli of an emotional and rational nature. In addition, we clarified the impact of some socio-demographic and economic variables.</p><p>The research reveals three main hypotheses resulting in clear indications that pro-environmental behavior is not homogeneous and can be influenced by both emotional and contextual stimuli. Also, people strongly overestimate their own tendency towards pro-environmental behavior despite some external intervention. These research results are based on the conducted online survey completed by 330 participants within various demographic groups in 81 Russian cities with the respondents' age ranging from 14 to 61. Our research will be able to fill the gap in the studies of pro-environmental behavior in resource-based economies and countries with the emerging environmental culture, as well as outline some directions for managing positive change. We hope it will help to look unprecedentedly at the interaction between consumption and policy to find more sustainable solutions.</p>

Abstract:Medical and allied health sciences professionals are increasingly dealing with clients who use cannabis for medical and recreational purposes. Yet, university curricula in many countries do not provide education for students and professionals in medicine and allied health fields including psychology about medical cannabis (MC) use. This study compares the attitudes and beliefs toward medical cannabis among psychology students at universities in Malta and Russia. Data were collected through an online survey for Maltese students and a pen-and-paper survey for Russian students. The present study did not evidence any difference based on gender. However, students who reported personal cannabis use, regardless of country status, were more likely to recommend MC for patient treatment and believe cannabis use does not pose serious physical or mental health risks. Significant differences among the students from Malta and Russia may be attributed to the legal standing of MC in the countries involved. However, a key finding from all students is the dearth of education about cannabis for health-related conditions and the need for curricula based on evidence-based research for informed decision-making.

Consciousness alterations in a cohort of young Swiss men: Associations with substance use and personality traits

Abstract:Background: Substance-induced consciousness alterations (CA) have mainly been studied among users of psychedelics but not among people using street drugs. Aims: Explore occurrences of three different types of substance-induced CA [ego dissolution (ED), visual pseudo-hallucinations (VPH), anxiety/paranoia (A/P)] and their perceived influences on life, together with their associations with substance use and personality correlates in a general population sample of 25-year-old men. Methods: 2,796 young Swiss men lifetime substance users completed a self-report questionnaire including history of use (never, former, and current) of different substances categories (psychedelics, cocaine, psychostimulants, ecstasy, MDMA, and other drugs), substance-induced ego dissolution (ED), visual pseudo-hallucinations (VPH) and anxiety/paranoia (A/P), the influence of these CA experiences on life, and personality traits (sensation seeking, sociability, anxiety-neuroticism, and aggression-hostility). Results: 32.2% reported at least one CA (i.e., ED, VPH or A/P), with 20.5% reporting ED, 16.7% VPH, and 14.6% A/P. Former and current use of psychedelics and ketamine was significantly associated with occurrences of all three types of CAs and with a positive influence of CA on life. Associations between the former and current use of other substances and the different types of CA were less consistent, and perceived influences on life were not statistically significant. Sociability was negatively associated with occurrences of all three types of CA. Positive associations were found between anxiety-neuroticism and ED and A/P, between aggression-hostility and A/P, and between sensation seeking and ED and VPH. Conclusion: This study supports the potential for psychedelics to induce CAs perceived as beneficial to life among people using street drugs, possibly reflecting the mechanism underlying the therapeutic potential of psychedelics.
