Abstract:In the realm of philanthropy, ophthalmology emerges as a fitting arena due to its swift operating procedures and minimal follow-up requirements. In India, where cataract stands as the leading cause of blindness, encompassing a staggering 80% of affected eyes [1], the need for intervention is paramount. Lens opacification strikes earlier in individuals from India, possibly due to heightened, unprotected UV exposure [2]. Cataract proves highly prevalent in the global south despite being easy to diagnose and manageable via surgery within 15–30 minutes. In response, the Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib charity has established an eye camp, offering free tests for various intra-ocular conditions.
