Abstract:In this paper we prove $\textit{localised, weighted}$ curvature integral estimates for solutions to the Ricci flow in the setting of a smooth four dimensional Ricci flow or a closed $n$-dimensional Kähler Ricci flow. These integral estimates improve and extend the integral curvature estimates shown by the second author in an earlier paper. If the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded in the spatial $L^p$ sense for some $p>2,$ then the estimates imply a uniform bound on the spatial $L^2$ norm of the Riemannian curvature tensor. Stronger integral estimates are shown to hold if one further assumes a weak non-inflating condition. In a sequel paper, we show that in many natural settings, a non-inflating condition holds.

Abstract:We obtain a volume growth and curvature decay result for various classes of complete, noncompact Riemannian metrics in dimension 4; in particular our method applies to anti-self-dual or Kähler metrics with zero scalar curvature, and metrics with harmonic curvature. Similar results were obtained for Einstein metrics in [And89], [BKN89], [Tia90], but our analysis differs from the Einstein case in that (1) we consider more generally a fourth order system in the metric, and (2) we do not assume any pointwise Ricci curvature bound.

Abstract:By using the Ricci flow, we study local rigidity theorems regarding scalar curvature, isoperimetric constant and best constant of $L^2$ logarithmic Sobolev inequality. Precisely, we prove that if a metric $g$ on an open set $V$ in an $n$-dimensional Riemannian manifold satisfies $$ \int_V R(g) dvol_g \ge 0 \text{\ \ and\ \ } I(V)\ge I(\mathbb{R}^n), $$ or $$ \int_V R(g) dvol_g \ge 0 \text{\ \ and\ \ } S(V)\ge S(\mathbb{R}^n),$$ then $g=g_{\mathbb{R}^n}$ on $V$, where $R(g)$ is the scalar curvature of $g$, $\mathbb{R}^n$ is Euclidean space, $ I(V)$ is the isoperimetric constant of $V$ and $S(V)$ is best constant of $L^2$ logarithmic Sobolev inequality of $V$. Moreover,we also obtain the local $\mathbb{R}^n$-rigidity about local Perelman's $\nu$-entropy, and local $\mathbb{S}^n$-rigidity (resp. $\mathbb{H}^n$-rigidity) theorems regarding the cases concerning $R(g)\ge n(n-1)$ (resp. $R(g)\ge -n(n-1) $), weighted isoperimetric constant and best constant of weighted $L^2$ logarithmic Sobolev inequality for the weighted metric $\left(\cos{\frac{d_g(p,x)}{2}}\right)^{-4}g$ (resp. $\left(\cosh{\frac{d_g(p,x)}{2}}\right)^{-4}g$).

Abstract:In this paper, by using monotonicity formulas for vector bundle-valued p-forms satisfying the conservation law, we first obtain general L^2 global rigidity theorems for locally conformally flat (LCF) manifolds with constant scalar curvature, under curvature pinching conditions. Secondly, we prove vanishing results for L^2 and some non-L^2 harmonic p-forms on LCF manifolds, by assuming that the underlying manifolds satisfy pointwise or integral curvature conditions. Moreover, by a Theorem of Li-Tam for harmonic functions, we show that the underlying manifold must have only one end. Finally, we obtain Liouville theorems for p-harmonic functions on LCF manifolds under pointwise Ricci curvature conditions.

Abstract:We control the number of critical points of a height function arising from the Nash isometric embedding of a compact Riemanniann-manifoldM. The Ln/2 curvature norm ∥R∥ and a similar scalar ∥R∥ are introduced and their integralR(M) andR(M) overM. We prove thatR(M) is bounded below by a constant depending only onn and the Betti numbers ofM. Thus a new sphere theorem is proved by eliminating allith Betti numbers fori = 1, .…n −1. The emphasis is that our sphere theorem imposes no restriction on the range of curvature.

Abstract:We study curvature pinching estimates of Ricci flow on complete 3- dimensional manifolds without bounded curvature assumption. We will derive some general curvature conditions which are preserved on any complete solution of 3-dim Ricci flow, these conditions include nonnegative Ricci curvature and sectional curvature as special cases. A local version of Hamilton-Ivey estimates is also obtained.
On distance estimates for complete manifolds with lower scalar curvature bounds

Abstract:In this paper, we focus on the distance estimate problem on complete manifolds with compact boundary and with lower scalar curvature bounds. On these manifolds, relative to a background manifold with nonnegative curvature operator, we introduce a definition of the relative index of relative Gromov-Lawson pairs via a deformed Dirac operator trick in \cite{Zh20}. We prove that the relative index coincides with the index of associated Callias operators of the relative Gromov-Lawson pairs. As applications, we prove a short neck inequality with uniformly positive scalar curvature and the corresponding quantitative shielding result with nonnegative scalar curvature. Moreover, we generalize the concept of relative $\widehat{A}$-area in \cite{CZ24} to complete manifolds with compact boundary and then investigate width estimates of geodesic collar neighborhoods.

Volume growth functions of complete Riemannian manifolds with positive scalar curvature

Abstract:Let $M$ be an open manifold of dimension at least $3$, which admits a complete metric of positive scalar curvature. For a function $v$ with bounded growth of derivative, whether $M$ admits a metric of positive scalar curvature with volume growth of the same growth type as $v$ is unknown. We answer this question positively in the case of manifolds, which are infinite connected sums of closed manifolds that admit metrics of positive scalar curvature. To define a metric of positive scalar curvature with a certain volume growth type on $M$, we use the Gromov-Lawson construction of metrics with positive scalar curvature on connected sums and Grimaldi-Pansu's construction of metrics of bounded geometry of certain volume growth type on open manifolds. We generalize this result to manifolds, which are infinite connected sums of similar closed manifolds along lower-dimensional spheres.

Global regularity of integral 2-varifolds with square integrable mean curvature

Abstract:We provide sharp sufficient criteria for an integral $2$-varifold to be induced by a $W^{2,2}$-conformal immersion of a smooth surface. Our approach is based on a fine analysis of the Hausdorff density for $2$-varifolds with critical integrability of the mean curvature and a recent local regularity result by Bi-Zhou. In codimension one, there are only three possible density values below $2$, each of which can be attained with equality in the Li--Yau inequality for the Willmore functional by the unit sphere, the double bubble, and the triple bubble. We show that below an optimal threshold for the Willmore energy, a varifold induced by a current without boundary is in fact a curvature varifold with a uniform bound on its second fundamental form. Consequently, the minimization of the Willmore functional in the class of curvature varifolds with prescribed even Euler characteristic provides smooth solutions for the Willmore problem. In particular, the "ambient" varifold approach and the "parametric" approach are equivalent for minimizing the Willmore energy.

Abstract:In this paper, we study 3-dimensional complete non-compact Riemannian manifolds with asymptotically nonnegative Ricci curvature and a uniformly positive scalar curvature lower bound. Our main result is that, if this manifold has $k$ ends and finite first Betti number, then it has at most linear volume growth, and furthermore, if the negative part of Ricci curvature decays sufficiently fast at infinity, then we have an optimal asymptotic volume ratio $\limsup_{r\rightarrow\infty}\frac{\mathrm{Vol}(B(p, r))}{r}\leq4k\pi$. In particular, our results apply to 3-dimensional complete non-compact Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature and a uniformly positive scalar curvature lower bound.

Abstract:Let $V$ be a $C^1$-vector field on an $n$-dimensional complete Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$. We prove a Liouville theorem for $V$-harmonic maps satisfying various growth conditions from complete Riemannian manifolds with non-negative $(m, V)$-Ricci curvature for $m\in\,[\,-\infty,\,0\,]\,\cup\,[\,n,\,+\infty\,]$ into Cartan-Hadam\-ard manifolds, which extends Cheng's Liouville theorem proved S.~Y.~Cheng for sublinear growth harmonic maps from complete Riemannian manifolds with non-negative Ricci curvature into Cartan-Hadamard manifolds. We also prove a Liouville theorem for $V$-harmonic maps from complete Riemannian manifolds with non-negative $(m, V)$-Ricci curvature for $m\in\,[\,-\infty,\,0\,]\,\cup\,[\,n,\,+\infty\,]$ into regular geodesic balls of Riemannian manifolds with positive upper sectional curvature bound, which extends the results of Hildebrandt-Jost-Wideman and Choi. Our probabilistic proof of Liouville theorem for several growth $V$-harmonic maps into Hadamard manifolds enhances an incomplete argument by Stafford. Our results extend the results due to Chen-Jost-Qiu\cite{ChenJostQiu} and Qiu\cite{Qiu} in the case of $m=+\infty$ on the Liouville theorem for bounded $V$-harmonic maps from complete Riemannian manifolds with non-negative $(\infty, V)$-Ricci curvature into regular geodesic balls of Riemannian manifolds with positive sectional curvature upper bound. Finally, we establish a connection between the Liouville property of $V$-harmonic maps and the recurrence property of $\Delta_V$-diffusion processes on manifolds. Our results are new even in the case $V=\nabla f$ for $f\in C^2(M)$.

Abstract:We derive local estimates of positive solutions to the conformal $Q$-curvature equation $$ (-\Delta)^m u = K(x) u^{\frac{n+2m}{n-2m}} ~~~~~~ in ~ \Omega \backslash \Lambda $$ near their singular set $\Lambda$, where $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is an open set, $K(x)$ is a positive continuous function on $\Omega$, $\Lambda$ is a closed subset of $\mathbb{R}^n$, $2 \leq m < n/2$ and $m$ is an integer. Under certain flatness conditions at critical points of $K$ on $\Lambda$, we prove that $u(x) \leq C [{dist}(x, \Lambda)]^{-(n-2m)/2}$ when the upper Minkowski dimension of $\Lambda$ is less than $(n-2m)/2$.

Abstract:Let $M^4$ denote an Einstein $4$-manifold with Einstein constant, $\lambda$, normalized to satisfy $\lambda \in \{-3,0,3\}$. For $B_r(p)\subset M^4$, a metric ball, we prove a uniform estimate for the pointwise norm of the curvature tensor on $B_{\frac {1}{2}r}$, under the assumption that the $L_2$-norm of the curvature on $B_r(p)$ is less than a small positive constant, which is independent of $M^4$, and which in particular, does not depend on a lower bound on the volume of $B_r(p)$. In case $\lambda =-3$, we prove a lower injectivity radius bound analogous to that which occurs in the theorem of Margulis, for compact manifolds with negative sectional curvature, $-1\leq K_M<0$. These estimates provide key tools in the study of singularity formation for $4$-dimensional Einstein metrics. As one application among others, we give a natural compactification of the moduli space of Einstein metrics with negative Einstein constant on a given $M^4$.

Abstract:A classic gap theorem for complete non-compact Ricci flat manifolds by M. Anderson suggests that one can get the rigidity of certain spaces simply by passing local curvature estimates on geodesic balls to global. Using similar ideas, Kim showed that a 4-dimensional complete non-compact Bach-flat manifold with vanishing scalar curvature and small L 2 -curvature tensor has to be flat. Unfortunately, this method does not generalize to compact manifolds without boundary. Applying a different approach, we show that a closed Bach-flat Riemannian manifold with positive constant scalar curvature has to be locally spherical if its Weyl and traceless Ricci tensors are small in the sense of either L ∞ or L n 2 -norm. These results generalize a rigidity theorem of positive Einstein manifolds due to M.-A. Singer. As an application, we can partially recover the well-known Chang–Gursky–Yang's 4-dimensional conformal sphere theorem.

Abstract:Extensions of Huber's Theorem to higher dimensions with $L^\frac{n}{2}$ bounded scalar curvature have been extensively studied over the years. In this paper, we delve into the properties of conformal metrics on a punctured ball with $\|R\|_{L^\frac{n}{2}}<+\infty$, aiming to identify necessary geometric constraints for Huber's theorem to be applicable. Unexpectedly, such metrics are more rigid than we initially anticipated. For instance, we found that the volume density at infinity is precisely one, and the blow-down of the metric is $\mathbb{R}^n$. Specifically, in four dimensions, we derive the $L^2$-integrability of the Ricci curvature, which directly leads to the conclusion that the Pfaffian 4-form is integrable and adheres to a Gauss-Bonnet-Chern formula. Additionally, we demonstrate that a Gauss-Bonnet-Chern formula, previously verified by Lu and Wang under the assumption that the second fundamental form belongs to $L^4$, remains valid for $R \in L^2$. Consequently, on an orientable 4-dimensional manifold conformal to a domain in a closed manifold, Huber's Theorem holds when $R \in L^2$, if and only if the negative part of the Pfaffian 4-form is integrable.

Abstract:We obtain sharp quantitative Laplacian upper and lower estimates under no assumption on curvatures. As a result, we derive quantitative Laplacian, area and volume comparison theorems for tubes in Riemannian and Kähler manifolds under weak integral curvature assumptions. We also give some applications, such as a general Bonnet-Myers theorem and Cheng's eigenvalue estimate under weak integral curvature assumptions.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the volume comparison theorem related to $\sigma_2$-curvature. In particular, we show that volume comparison theorem with respect to $\sigma_2$-curvature holds for metrics close to strictly stable positive Einstein metrics. By applying similar techniques, we derive the local rigidity theorem for strictly stable Ricci flat manifolds with respect to $\sigma_2$-curvature, which shows it admits no metric with positive $\sigma_2$-curvature near strictly stable Ricci-flat metrics.

Abstract:In this article, we prove a local Sobolev inequality for complete Ricci flows. Our main result is that the local $\nu$-functional of a disk on a Ricci flow depends only on the Nash entropy based at the center of the disk, and consequently depends only on the volume of the disk. Furthermore, we introduce some applications of this local Sobolev inequality. These applications reveal the way in which the local geometry evolves along Ricci flow. In particular, we show that several classical theorems related to Perelman's monotonicity formula can be derived from our results.
