On Development of Convention and Exhibition Tourism in Taiyuan

Abstract:Convention and exhibition tourism is a product form,which is organically combined by exhibition and tourism.Taiyuan has the advantages for developing convention and exhibition tourism,such as deep historical and cultural heritage of tourism resources,a good geographic condition,unique advantages of coal resources,and advanced level of economic development.However,there are a number of deficiencies: the infrastructure and supporting services and facilities lagging behind,market participation mechanisms of exhibition industry immature,convention and exhibition industry and tourism having not reached a benign connection and lack of exhibition professionals.On this basis,a series of countermeasures are offered on how to develop Taiyuan's convention and exhibition tourism: Giving full play to the leading role of the government,forming a market operation mechanism,trade associations playing a role as link,convention and exhibition industry and tourism achieving a virtuous butt,perfecting exhibition venues and supporting facilities,optimizing the urban environment,and cultivating senior professional talents.
