The journal was initially contacted by the corresponding author to request the retraction of the article as the results were reportedly not reproducible post-publication.Further investigation by the journal revealed also that the author name Hailin Liu was added to the authorship without editorial approval, after the article was accepted by the handling Editor. Other authorship issues as well as data realiability issues with the article were further revealed by the institutional investigation: http://med.china.com.cn/content/pid/291148/tid/1013/iswap/1.Given the concerns raised regarding panels from Figure 3A and also the comments of Dr Elisabeth Bik regarding this article “This paper belongs to a set of over 400 papers (as per February 2020) that share very similar Western blots with tadpole-like shaped bands, the same background pattern, and striking similarities in title structures, paper layout, bar graph design, and - in a subset - flow cytometry panels”, the journal requested the authors to provide the raw data. However, the authors were not able to fulfil this request and therefore the Editor-in-Chief decided to retract the article.

Huang, L. Hua, H.-K. Feng, B. Shen, published in Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci 2019; 23 (4): 1789-1796-DOI: 10.26355/eurrev_201902_17142-PMID: 30840305 has been retracted by the Editor in Chief. Following some concerns raised on PubPeer (link: https://pubpeer.com/publications/6A6E686494A160FBE7A1725E5CE30C) regarding figure duplication in Figures 1 and 2A, the Editor in Chief has started an investigation to assess the validity of the results as well as possible figure manipulation. The journal investigation revealed a figure duplication between the panels AMI and AMI+RSV+LY of Figure 1. The authors were informed about the journal's investigation but remained unresponsive and did not provide the study's raw data. Consequently, the Editor in Chief mistrusts the results presented and has decided to retract the article. This article has been retracted. Abstract:We, the Editors and Publishers of Brain Injury, have retracted the following article: Zhuobo Zhang, Dongmei Jin, Zichao Yang, Baozhong Shen & Ming Liu (2011) Effects of 17 β -estradiol pre-treated adult neural stem cells on neuronal differentiation and neurological recovery in rats with cerebral ischemia, Brain Injury, 25:2, 227-236, DOI: 10.3109/02699052.2010.542430 Since publication, concerns were raised about the integrity of the histology images within Figure 2A. Upon investigation it was discovered that the histology images had previously been published in the following article within Figure 1, representing results of different experimental conditions: Li-qun Fang & Zhuo-bo Zhang (2010) Brca-1 gene-regulated neural stem cells transplantation in treatment of cerebral infarction, Journal of Clinical Rehabilitative Tissue Engineering Research, 14:45 DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.1673-8225.2010.45.017 When consulted, the authors confirmed that the same images had been used in both articles and confirmed there are integrity issues present in both articles. We have informed the authors that their article is to be retracted due to these integrity issues. We have been informed in our decision-making by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retractions.
