Abstract:This study delves into the bi-directional transparency interaction model (B-SAT) in the design of L3 autonomous driving. AS man-machine co-driving technology transitions to L3 autonomous driving, drivers may engage in non-driving tasks, leading to a decline in situation awareness (SA) and subsequent disengagement from the driving task, resulting in out-of-the-loop (OOTL) situations. Currently, the transparent interaction mode of existing autonomous system falls short of meeting the actual needs of the vehicle companies. To address this gap, the B-SAT interaction model was developed to design bi-directional transparency interaction information for L3 autonomous driving. B-SAT enhances the bi-directional transparency interaction design of L3 autonomous driving systems. It effectively tackles driver disengagement and trust issues in future L3 autonomous driving, thereby enhancing driving performance and the user experience of human-machine co-driving. Automotive designers and engineers can consider utilizing the B-SAT model for interaction design and user experience evaluation in L3 autonomous systems.
