Abstract:Eikenella corrodens and Streptococcus sanguinis are indigenous to the oral cavity and infrequently associated with osteoarticular infections. We detail a case of septic arthritis in a 13-year-old boy who suffered a puncture wound with a toothpick after eating. This case highlights the ability of these microorganisms to instigate osteoarticular infections through penetrating trauma and not only through the hematogenous route.
