Abstract:Using determinant functor, we describe a natural transformation from local Hilbert functor to K-theoretic cycle groups of codimension one, which were variants of Balmer's tensor triangular Chow groups. This enables us to answers a question of Bloch on infinitesimal deformation of Chow groups of divisors.

Abstract:We use a determinant functor to describe a map from Grothendieck group to local cohomology. This map is closely related with negative K-groups and generalizes a method of Green and Griffiths. Moreover, we obtain a natural transformation from the local Hilbert functor to the first K-theoretic cycle groups, which are variants of Balmer's tensor triangular Chow groups.

Abstract:We recall P. Balmer's definition of tensor triangular Chow group for a tensor triangulated category K and explore some of its properties. We give a proof that for a suitably nice scheme X it recovers the usual notion of Chow group from algebraic geometry when we put K=Dperf(X). Furthermore, we identify a class of functors for which tensor triangular Chow groups behave functorially and show that (for suitably nice schemes) proper push-forward and flat pull-back of algebraic cycles can be interpreted as being induced by the derived inverse and direct image functors between the bounded derived categories of the involved schemes. We also compute some examples for derived and stable categories from modular representation theory, where we obtain tensor triangular cycle groups with torsion coefficients. This illustrates our point of view that tensor triangular cycles are elements of a certain Grothendieck group, rather than Z-linear combinations of closed subspaces of some topological space.

Abstract:Based on Balmer's tensor triangular Chow group [2], we propose (Milnor)K-theoretic Chow groups of derived categories of schemes. These Milnor K-theoretic Chow groups recover the classical ones [6] for smooth projective varieties and can detect nilpotent, while the classical ones can't do. As an application, we extend Soulé's variant of Bloch-Quilled identification from smooth projective varieties to their trivial infinitesimal thickenings. This answers affirmatively a question by Green-Griffiths for trivial deformations, see Question 1.1 below.

Abstract:The Chow groups of codimension-p algebraic cycles modulo rational equivalence on a smooth algebraic variety X have steadfastly resisted the efforts of algebraic geometers to fathom their structure. This book explores a "linearization" approach to this problem, focusing on the infinitesimal structure of the Chow groups near their identity elements. This method was adumbrated in recent work of Mark Green and Phillip Griffiths. Similar topics have been explored by Bloch, Stienstra, Hesselholt, Van der Kallen, and others. A famous formula of Bloch expresses the Chow groups as Zariski sheaf cohomology groups of algebraic K-theory sheaves on X. "Linearization" of the Chow groups is thereby related to "linearization" of algebraic K-theory, which may be described in terms of negative cyclic homology. The "proper formal construction" arising from this approach is a "machine" involving the coniveau spectral sequences arising from four different generalized cohomology theories on X, with the last two sequences connected by the algebraic Chern character. Due to the critical role of the coniveau filtration, I refer to this construction as the coniveau machine. The main theorem in this book establishes the existence of the coniveau machine for algebraic K-theory on a smooth algebraic variety. An immediate corollary is a new formula expressing generalized tangent groups of Chow groups in terms of negative cyclic homology.

Isotropic and numerical equivalence for Chow groups and Morava K-theories

Abstract:In this paper we prove the conjecture claiming that, over a flexible field, isotropic Chow groups coincide with numerical Chow groups (with ${\Bbb{F}}_p$-coefficients). This shows that Isotropic Chow motives coincide with Numerical Chow motives. In particular, homs between such objects are finite groups and $\otimes$ has no zero-divisors. It provides a large supply of new points for the Balmer spectrum of the Voevodsky motivic category. We also prove the Morava K-theory version of the above result, which permits to construct plenty of new points for the Balmer spectrum of the Morel-Voevodsky ${\Bbb{A}}^1$-stable homotopic category. This substantially improves our understanding of the mentioned spectra whose description is a major open problem.

Abstract:We construct new indecomposable elements in the higher Chow group CH2(A,1) of a principally polarized Abelian surface over a non Archimedean local field, which generalize an element constructed by Collino. These elements are constructed using a generalization, due to Birkenhake and Wilhelm, of a classical construction of Humbert, along with some recent work of Bogomolov, Hassett and Tschinkel on deformations of rational curves on a K3 surface. They can be used to prove the non-Archimedean Hodge-D-conjecture - namely, the surjectivity of the boundary map in the localization sequence - in the case when the Abelian surface has good and ordinary reduction. This is a revised and updated version of an earlier preprint with the name `Abelian surfaces, Kummer surfaces and the non-Archimedean Hodge-D-conjecture.'

Abstract:We show that the chow group of $p$-cycles with rational coefficients are isomorphic to the corresponding rational homology groups for smooth complex projective varieties carrying a holomorphic vector field with an isolated zero locus. As applications, we obtain Chow groups and Lawson homology groups with rational coefficients and verify the Friedlander-Mazur conjecture and the Generalized Hodge conjecture for those varieties.

Abstract:We construct some analog of cubical Bloch's higher Chow groups. Instead of considering cycles in $X\times\mathbb A^n$ we consider varieties $Y$ over $X$ together with a distinguished element in the $n$-th exterior power of the multiplicative group of the field of fraction on $Y$. This definition allows us to make sense of a cycle in $X\times\mathbb A^n$ intersecting faces improperly as an element in this complex. We prove that this complex is well-defined and study its basic properties: flat pullback, the localization sequence etc. As an application we prove that the cohomology of this complex in degrees $m-1, m$ and weight $m$ isomorphic to the cohomology of polylogarithmic complex.

Modularity of higher theta series II: Chow group of the generic fiber

Abstract:Higher theta series on moduli spaces of Hermitian shtukas were constructed by Feng--Yun--Zhang and conjectured to be modular, parallel to classical conjectures in the Kudla program. In this paper we prove the modularity of higher theta series after restriction to the generic locus. The proof is an upgrade, using motivic homotopy theory, of earlier work of Feng--Yun--Zhang which established generic modularity of $\ell$-adic realizations. In the process, we develop some general tools of broader utility. One such is the "motivic sheaf-cycle correspondence", a categorical trace formalism for extracting computations in the Chow group from computations in Voevodsky's derived category of motives. Another new tool is the "derived homogeneous Fourier transform", which we use to implement a form of Fourier analysis for motives.

Higher Chow cycles on a family of Kummer surfaces

Abstract:We construct a collection of families of higher Chow cycles of type $(2,1)$ on a 2-dimensional family of Kummer surfaces, and prove that for a very general member, they generate a subgroup of rank $\ge 18$ in the indecomposable part of the higher Chow group. Construction of the cycles uses a finite group action on the family, and the proof of their linear independence uses Picard-Fuchs differential operators.

Abstract: We define the Chow $t$-structure on the $\infty$-category of motivic spectra $SH(k)$ over an arbitrary base field $k$. We identify the heart of this $t$-structure $SH(k)^{c\heartsuit}$ when the exponential characteristic of $k$ is inverted. Restricting to the cellular subcategory, we identify the Chow heart $SH(k)^{cell, c\heartsuit}$ as the category of even graded $MU_{2*}MU$-comodules. Furthermore, we show that the $\infty$-category of modules over the Chow truncated sphere spectrum is algebraic. Our results generalize the ones in Gheorghe--Wang--Xu in three aspects: To integral results; To all base fields other than just $C$; To the entire $\infty$-category of motivic spectra $SH(k)$, rather than a subcategory containing only certain cellular objects. We also discuss a strategy for computing motivic stable homotopy groups of (p-completed) spheres over an arbitrary base field $k$ using the Postnikov tower associated to the Chow $t$-structure and the motivic Adams spectral sequences over $k$.
Higher Chow cycles on K3 surfaces attached to plane quartics

Abstract:In this paper, we give an explicit construction of higher Chow cycles of type $(2,1)$ on $K3$ surfaces obtained as quadruple coverings of the projective plane ramified along smooth quartics. The construction uses a pair of bitangents of the quartics. We prove that the higher Chow cycles generate a rank 2 subgroup in the indecomposable part of the higher Chow group for very general members, by using a specialization argument and an explicit computation of the regulator map.

On the Chow ring of Cynk-Hulek Calabi-Yau varieties and Schreieder varieties

Abstract:This note is about certain locally complete families of Calabi-Yau varieties constructed by Cynk and Hulek, and certain varieties constructed by Schreieder. We prove that the cycle class map on the Chow ring of powers of these varieties admits a section, and that these varieties admit a multiplicative self-dual Chow-Kuenneth decomposition. As a consequence of both results, we prove that the subring of the Chow ring generated by divisors, Chern classes, and intersections of two cycles of positive codimension injects into cohomology, via the cycle class map. We also prove that the small diagonal of Schreieder surfaces admits a decomposition similar to that of K3 surfaces. As a by-product of our main result, we verify a conjecture of Voisin concerning zero-cycles on the self-product of Cynk-Hulek Calabi-Yau varieties, and in the odd-dimensional case we verify a conjecture of Voevodsky concerning smash-equivalence. Finally, in positive characteristic, we show that the supersingular Cynk-Hulek Calabi-Yau varieties provide examples of Calabi-Yau varieties with "degenerate" motive.

Abstract:We introduce cohomology and deformation theories for a bialgebra A (over a commutative unital ring k) such that the second cohomology group is the space of infinitesimal deformations. Our theory gives a natural identification between the underlying k-modules of the original and the deformed bialgebra. Certain explicit deformation formulas are given for the construction of quantum groups--i.e., Hopf algebras that are neither commutative nor cocommutative (whether or not they arise from quantum Yang-Baxter operators). These formulas yield, in particular, all GLq(n) and SLq(n) as deformations of GL(n) and SL(n). Using a Hodge decomposition of the underlying cochain complex, we compute our cohomology for GL(n). With this, we show that every deformation of GL(n) is equivalent to one in which the comultiplication is unchanged, not merely on elements of degree one but on all elements (settling in the strongest way a decade-old conjecture) and in which the quantum determinant, as an element of the underlying k-module, is identical with the usual one.
On the infinite Frobenius actions on de Rham fundamental groups of affine curves

Abstract:We compute the infinite Frobenius actions on the de Rham fundamental groups of affine curves defined over $\mathbf R$. As an application, we compute extension classes of real mixed Hodge structures associated with the motivic fundamental groups of affine curves. We establish connections between our computation and special values of Rankin-Selberg L-functions, focusing on the case of modular curves, and show that the associated extensions of mixed Hodge structures does not split. We compute local zeta integrals not only at good primes but also at certain bad primes.

Abstract:This paper shows that the integral equivariant cohomology Chern numbers completely determine the equivariant geometric unitary bordism classes of closed unitary $G$-manifolds, which gives an affirmative answer to the conjecture posed by Guillemin--Ginzburg--Karshon in [20, Remark H.5, $\S3$, Appendix H], where $G$ is a torus. As a further application, we also obtain a satisfactory solution of [20, Question (A), $\S1.1$, Appendix H] on unitary Hamiltonian $G$-manifolds. Our key ingredients in the proof are the universal toric genus defined by Buchstaber--Panov--Ray and the Kronecker pairing of bordism and cobordism. Our approach heavily exploits Quillen's geometric interpretation of homotopic unitary cobordism theory. Moreover, this method can also be applied to the study of $({\Bbb Z}_2)^k$-equivariant unoriented bordism and can still derive the classical result of tom Dieck.
On the deformation theory of Fourier-Mukai transforms between Calabi-Yau varieties

Abstract:We study the deformation theory of fully faithful Fourier-Mukai transforms in both characteristic zero and mixed characteristic. Our main result shows that obstructions to deforming such transforms can be completely controlled by Hodge theory when the source variety has trivial canonical bundle, generalizing work of Addington-Thomas and Lieblich-Olsson. The main technical contribution is a formula for the obstruction class measuring the failure of a Chern character to remain within the Hodge filtration as a cup product with a (derived) Kodaira-Spencer class.
