Abstract:Academician Gao Runlin China cardiovascular disease reported in 2018 outlines that there are 4.5 million cases of heart failure in China every year, an increase of 44% compared with the survey 15 years ago. [ 1 ] Some Studies have confirmed that the 1-year and 5-year mortality of heart failure are as high as 20.2% and 52.6% respectively. [ 2 ] More and more evidence shows that hypoproteinemia is associated with some cardiovascular diseases, such as ischemic heart disease, stroke, venous thromboembolism, heart failure and atrial fibrillation. [ 3 ] Serum albumin (ALB) level, an important indicator of hypoproteinemia, has become a powerful prognostic parameter for many patients with cardiovascular diseases. [ 4 ] However, the relationship between ALB level and chronic heart failure remains unclear in elderly people. Thus, in this study, we use the method of prospective research to conduct telephone follow-up, outpatient reexamination and rehospitalization follow-up for 5 years from 100 elderly male patients with chronic heart failure hospitalized in the General hospital of Southern Theater Command from December 2014 to December 2015. Our objective is to explore the potential contribution of albumin (ALB) levels and echocardiographic parameters in identifying the association between mortality and hypoproteinemia in patients with chronic heart failure.
