Abstract:Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H functionalization of 7-arylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines was developed wherein the pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine moiety is reported for the first time to direct the C-H bond activation. Various 7-arylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines underwent smooth C-H amidation with alkyl-, aryl-, and heteroaryl-substituted dioxazolones to afford the products in moderate to good yields. Mechanistic studies suggest that a six-membered rhodacycle intermediate involving N1 might play a key role in the regioselective catalytic cycle.

Abstract:Rh(III)-catalyzed C(sp(3)) - H bond aminocarbonylation of 8-methylquinolines and isocyanates has been realized under mild conditions. This approach is applicable to different aryl and alkyl isocyanates, leading to the synthesis of various alpha-quinolinyl amide compounds in moderate to excellent yields. A plausible mechanism for this transformation is proposed according to the experimental results obtained.

Abstract:An efficient and straightforward procedure toward the synthesis of amides-substituted 2H-benzopyrans H-benzopyrans has been explored through palladium-catalyzed one-pot aminocarbonylation reaction. By using nitro compounds as attractive nitrogen sources, with Mo(CO)6 6 as both CO source and reductant, a variety of amides-containing 2H- H- benzopyrans were obtained in moderate to high yields with good functional group tolerance. This protocol has advantages including atom-economy, no manipulation of toxic CO gas, and broad substrate scope.

Abstract:Herein, 2-vinylpyridines as a new type of electron-poor system for the asymmetric cross Rauhut-Currier reaction are reported. 2-Vinylpyridines are chemo- and enantioselectively activated by a newly designed chiral phosphine catalyst. The new reaction provides a powerful synthetic tool for accessing structurally diverse, highly valued chiral pyridine building blocks in good yields and with high enantioselectivities. Preliminary mechanistic studies reveal that two NH protons in the catalyst are critical for the synergistic activation of the substrates and governing the stereoselectivity of this reaction.

Abstract:Herein, we develop a base-promoted regioselective synthesis of N-vinyl pyrazoles from vinyl sulfonium salts with diazo compounds. This metal-free synthetic protocol provides an efficient and practical approach to diverse N-vinyl pyrazoles in good to excellent yields under mild conditions. The reaction appears to experience a [3 + 2] annulation of vinyl sulfonium salts and diazo anions rather than diazo compounds, followed by N-vinylation.

Abstract:We report here the use of pyridin-2-yl benzenesulfonates as sulfonylation reagents in a difunctionalization reaction based on oxy-pyridinium ylide chemistry, providing an effective protocol for the installation of both a sulfonyl group and a pyridone moiety into one molecule. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations disclose that the reaction process might proceed through sequential metal-bound ylide formation, keto-enol tautomerism, and the migratory rearrangement of the sulfonyl group.

Abstract:An electrochemical protocol for benzylic C(sp3)-H aminopyridylation via direct C-H/N-H cross-coupling of alkylarenes with N-aminopyridinium triflate has been developed. This method features excellent site-selectivity, broad substrate scope, redox reagent-free and facile scalability. The generated benzylaminopyridiniums can be readily converted to benzylamines via electroreductive N-N bond cleavage.

This electrochemical reaction is sustainable and an atom-efficient approach with good functional group tolerance and scalability by avoiding metal and external chemical oxidants.

Abstract:We report herein a Rh(III)-catalyzed alkenyl CH activation protocol for the coupling of oxadiazoles with alkynes and synthesis of 2-acylamino and 2-amino pyridines, an important heterocyclic scaffold for various naturals products and synthetic pharmaceuticals bearing a readily reacting functional group. The selective protection/deprotection of amino groups through simple solvent switching, good functional group compatibility, superior product yield, and high regioselectivity are some of the notable synthetic features witnessed in this reaction protocol.

Abstract:An unprecedented steric hindrance controlled regioselective rhodium-catalyzed direct C-H amidation of 2,4-diarylquinazoline was described. Sulfonyl azides were used as the amine source to provide a variety of amide-functionalized 2,4-diarylquinazolines in high efficiency. The reaction proceeded under mild conditions, had good functional group tolerance with a broad scope of substrates, and afforded moderate to good product yields. Excellent monoamidation selectivity was achieved with the assistance of meta substituents.

Abstract:Cobalt‐catalyzed selective transformation of levulinic acid and primary amines into pyrrolidines and pyrrolidinones under H2 has been developed. The catalyst system consisting of Co(NTf2)2, 1,1,1‐tris(di(4‐methoxyphenyl)phosphinomethyl) ethane ((p‐anisyl)triphos) and Me3SiOTf works well for facile synthesis of pyrrolidines via reductive amination/cyclization/deoxygenative reduction of amide, and using Co(NTf2)2/1,1,1‐tris(diphenylphosphinomethyl) ethane (triphos) as the catalyst under reduced hydrogen pressure results in exclusive formation of pyrrolidinones. Both aryl and alkyl primary amines are suitable substrates, and a variety of functional groups are tolerated. Meanwhile, 4‐oxo‐4‐arylbutanoic acids, 5‐oxohexanoic acid, 6‐oxoheptanoic acid, 2‐formylbenzoic acid, 2‐acetylbenzoic acid and 2'‐acetyl‐[1,1'‐biphenyl]‐2‐carboxylic acid are also applicable, allowing for convenient access to cyclic amines and lactams with different ring size.

Abstract:An auxiliary-assisted Pd-catalyzed C(sp3)-H sulfonamidation approach using NFSI as both nitrogen source and oxidant to afford 1,2-amino alcohol derivatives is described in this paper. This method is novel and attractive because of its high yields, wide range of substrate scopes, and good tolerance for many functional groups. Oximido and sulfonyl group can be removed with this method.

Abstract:The development of electron-demand disfavored [4 + 2] cycloaddition of two electron-deficient reacting partners poses a considerable challenge. An enantioselective aza-[4 + 2] cycloaddition of electron-deficient N-sulfonyl-1-aza-1,3-dienes is possible with vinyl ketones via phosphine catalysis, which provides facile access to a wide range of enantioenriched trifluoromethylated tetrahydropyridines in up to 97% yield with 97% ee and >20:1 dr. The mechanistic study indicated that this cycloaddition proceeds via a tandem intermolecular aza-Rauhut–Currier/intramolecular aza-Michael addition reaction.

Abstract:An efficient protocol to construct spiro[indole-3,4'-pyrazol]-5'-ones via ruthenium(II)-catalyzed selective C-H bond activation/[4 + 1] spirocyclization starting from easily available N-aryl amidines and diazopyrazolones has been developed. A series of spiro-pyrazolones could be easily obtained under the mild reaction conditions with high step and atom economy. Mechanistically, the formation of spirocyclies involves Ru(II)-catalyzed C(sp2)-H bond cleavage, metal carabine formation, migratory insertion, intra-molecular nucleophilic addition, and elimination. This protocol features obviating external oxidant, excellent regioselectivity, broad scope and generality of substrates.
