Abstract:This report describes the oral characteristics of drug-induced gingival overgrowth (DIGO) in five children with microcephaly. The patients, with a mean age of 7.3 months, included both sexes and had severe microcephaly. They were referred to our service for an evaluation of their oral hygiene. These children also had intellectual deficits, motor and visual impairments, sporadic seizures, and epilepsy. They had been using antiepileptic drugs for more than four years. Upon intraoral examination, it was observed that both arches exhibited gingival overgrowth, which prevented the eruption of permanent first molars through the gingival margins.
