Abstract:This manuscript reviewed the prenatal ultrasound progress, pregnancy outcome and postnatal follow-up of patent urachus with allanotic cyst (PUAC), providing clue for the prenatal management and underlying developmental abnormalities of the urinary system of this disease. This manuscript reviewed the prenatal ultrasound progress, pregnancy outcome and postnatal follow-up of patent urachus with allanotic cyst (PUAC), providing clue for the prenatal management and underlying developmental abnormalities of the urinary system of this disease. Of the 10 cases that matched the characteristic sonograms in the first trimester, 9 cases were confirmed as PUAC, and the other one was later diagnosed with omphalocele–exstrophy–imperforate anus–spinal defects (OEIS) complex. The diameter of the allanotic cyst increased with gestational age, and most ruptured in the second or third trimester, forming an omphalocele, which subsequently varied in size. Since then, the fetal bladders were poorly filled. Of the 5 livebirths and 3 stillbirths, there were 2 cases of cystic mass and 5 cases of soft tissue mass in the umbilicus, and the other case had a continuous abdominal wall. All the 5 neonates underwent surgical repairment and recovered well. Only one case had frequent urinary tract infections and was found bilateral vesicoureteral reflux. The “dumbbell” structure is a specific ultrasonographic appearance for early pregnancy diagnosis of PUAC. Although the prognosis is generally good, diagnosis and differential diagnosis are important in this disease. Ultrasound is of great value in perinatal period monitoring and postnatal follow-up. Abstract:A rare congenital condition known as hydrometrocolpos (HMC) is characterized by the buildup of secretions in the vagina and uterus as a result of distal obstruction; this condition is frequently linked to imperforate hymen. This case report presents a prenatal diagnosis of isolated HMC in a 30-year-old primigravida, detected at 36 weeks gestation. Initial ultrasound revealed a large cystic mass, confirmed by fetal magnetic resonance imaging to be HMC. Postnatal examination of the new born confirmed imperforate hymen and HMC, which was effectively treated with hymenotomy, resulting in early resolution. This case underscores the importance of prenatal imaging in the early identification and management of HMC to prevent potential complications.
