Abstract:In this paper, by using bifurcation method, we successfully find the K(2,2)equation with osmosis dispersion possess two new types of travelling wave solu tions called kink-like wave solutions and antikink-like wave solutions. They are defined on some semifinal bounded domains and possess properties of kink waves and anti-kink waves. Their implicit expressions are obtained. For some concrete data, the graphs of the implicit functions are displayed, and the numerical simulation of travelling wave system is made by Maple. The results show that our theoretical analysis agrees with the numerical simulation.

Abstract:Fluid mechanics has the applications in a wide range of disciplines, such as oceanography, astrophysics, meteorology, and biomedical engineering. Under investigation in this paper is the ((2+1))-dimensional generalized Caudrey–Dodd–Gibbon–Kotera–Sawada equation in fluid mechanics. Via the Pfaffian technique and certain constraint on the real constant (alpha ), the Nth-order Pfaffian solutions are derived. One- and two-soliton solutions are obtained via the Nth-order Pfaffian solutions. Based on the Hirota–Riemann method, one- and two-periodic wave solutions are constructed. With the help of the analytic and graphic analysis, we notice that: (1) of the one soliton, amplitude is irrelevant to (gamma ), a real constant coefficient in the equation, velocity along the x direction is independent of (gamma ), while velocity along the y direction is proportional to (gamma ); (2) one soliton keeps its amplitude and velocity invariant during the propagation and total amplitude of the two solitons in the interaction region is lower than that of any soliton; (3) one-periodic wave can be viewed as a superposition of the overlapping solitary waves, placed one period apart; (4) periodic behaviors for the two-periodic wave exist along the x and y directions, respectively; (5) under certain limiting conditions, one-periodic wave solutions approach to the one-soliton solutions and two-periodic wave solutions approach to the two-soliton solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV equations that can be used to describe the interaction of two classes of long waves. By using the Hiroda bilinear method, the 1, 2, 3-soliton solutions are obtained. On this basis, the asymptotic analysis of soliton solutions proves that the collisions between solitons are elastic, and a set of visual figure is given to illustrate the results.

Abstract:Shallow water waves are seen in magnetohydrodynamics, atmospheric science, oceanography and so on. In this article, we study a ( )-dimensional Korteweg–de Vries–Calogero–Bogoyavlenskii–Schiff equation with the time-dependent coefficients for the shallow water waves. N -soliton solutions are obtained via the simplified Hirota method. Via the N -soliton solutions, we present the elastic interactions between the two solitons and among the three solitons. Some other analytic solutions are constructed through the tanh method and -expansion method.

Abstract:We propose a numerical method for finding solitary wave solutions of generalized Korteweg-de Vries equations by solving the nonlinear eigenvalue problem on an unbounded domain. The artificial boundary conditions are obtained to make the domain finite. We specially discuss the soliton solutions of the K(m,n) equation and KdV–K(m,n) equation. Furthermore for the mixed models of linear and nonlinear dispersion, the collision behaviors of soliton–soliton and soliton–antisoliton are observed.

Abstract:Korteweg-de Vries-type equations have occurred in the fields of planetary oceans, atmospheres, cosmic plasmas and so on, while nonlinear evolution equations with the variable coefficients have provided a realistic perspective on the inhomogeneities of media and non-uniformities of boundaries. In this paper, we investigate a (3+1)-dimensional Korteweg-de Vries equation with the time-dependent coefficients in a fluid. Based on the Hirota method, we obtain a bilinear form via the binary Bell polynomial approach. Based on the bilinear form, we derive the N -soliton, breather and periodic-wave solutions, where N is a positive integer. Besides, we investigate the asymptotic behaviors of the breather and periodic-wave solutions. Breather waves and periodic waves are graphically displayed. Finally, relation between the periodic-wave solutions and one-soliton solutions is discussed. This paper provides an intuitive understanding for the nonlinear phenomena of those obtained solutions, and those nonlinear phenomena have potential application value in fluid dynamics and other fields.

Abstract:In this work we devise an algebraic method to uniformly construct solitary wave solutions and doubly periodic wave solutions of physical interest for the Kersten–Krasil’shchik coupled KdV–mKdV system. This system as the classical part of one of superextension of the KdV equation was proposed very recently. The complete integrability, singular analysis and Lax pairs for this system have been found, but its exact solution are still unknown.

Abstract:Abstract The ZK–mZK–BBM equation plays a crucial role in actually depicting the gravity water waves with the long wave region. In this article, the bilinear forms of the (2 + 1)-dimensional ZK–mZK–BBM equation were derived using variable transformation. Then, the multiple soliton solutions of the ZK–mZK–BBM equation are obtained by bilinear forms and symbolic computation. Under complex conjugate transformations, quasi-soliton solutions and mixed solutions composed of one-soliton and one-quasi-soliton are derived from soliton solutions. These solutions are further studied graphically to observe the propagation characteristics of gravity water waves. The results enrich the research of gravity water wave in fluid mechanics.

Abstract:In this paper, we will obtain the exact N-soliton solution of the coupled long-wave–short-wave system via the developed Hirota bilinear method. Through manipulating the relevant parameters, we will construct different types of solutions which include breather-like solutions and dark-soliton-breather-like solutions. Moreover, we will demonstrate that the interactions of two-soliton and two-breather-like solutions are all elastic through asymptotic analysis method. Finally, we will display the interactions through illustrations.

Abstract:In this paper, a (3+1)-dimensional Korteweg-de Vries-Calogero-Bogoyavlenskii-Schif equation in a fluid is investigated. By the virtue of the truncated Painlevé expansion, a set of the auto-Bäcklund transformations of that equation is worked out. Based on the auto-Bäcklund transformations with certain non-trivial seed solutions, one-, two-, three- and N-soliton solutions on the nonzero background of that equation are derived with N as a positive integer. According to those two-soliton solutions, X- and inelastic-type soliton solutions are obtained. Via the asymptotic analysis, influence of the coefficients for the above equation is discussed and the interactions between the solitons are also studied. Then, those solitons and interactions are shown graphically.

Abstract:Abstract We present exact solutions for new (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear equations of wave propagation and fluids. We use the tanh/sech method combined with a computer symbolic system for a reliable treatment of this work. We determine a variety of exact solutions for each equation that contains soliton, kink and periodic solutions. The constraints that guarantee the existence of soliton and kink solutions were examined and found to be related to the coefficients k , r and s of the space variables x , y , and z respectively.

Abstract:Soliton solutions in Gram determinant of the -dimensional Kaup system have been studied based on the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy reduction method. Such system has been used to describe the water waves propagating in an infinite narrow channel of constant mean depth. Propagation of one soliton and interactions between two solitons have been discussed. u and v components are shock profiles, while the R component presents the bell-shaped or the depression profiles. There are three types of the elastic interactions between two solitons of R component: bell-bell, bell-depression and depression-depression. Soliton fission and fusion have also been addressed, and two solitons shares the Y -type resonance. N -soliton solutions in Wronskian determinant and the corresponding Maya diagrams have also been presented. Finally, a conditionally stable finite difference scheme is proposed to numerically study solitons and verify that the soliton solution is stable.

Abstract:The new precise traveling wave solutions to the Geophysical KdV equation obtained by the -expansion method and Sine-Cosine method reflect the results for hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational functions. Different physical wave shapes are displayed by all solutions, including the periodic, bright, and singular soliton solutions. Compared to the -expansion approach, the Sine-Cosine method is shown to be more straightforward, efficient, and involves less time-consuming symbolic computations, however the key factors of -expansion approach is that the great capacity of solutions can be obtained as more number parameters are involved in the solution procedure. The obtained results demonstrate the propagation of nonlinear tsunami structures, their interaction, and the progress of solitons. The propagation of nonlinear tsunami waves are shown to be strongly influenced by the travelling wave's velocity and the Coriolis parameter.

Abstract:In this research, we focus on some novel exact solutions of the new (2 + 1)-dimensional shallow water wave equation (SWWE). First, the soliton molecules on the (x,y)-, (x,t)- and (y,t)-planes are constructed via assigning the velocity resonance conditions to the multiple soliton solutions (MSSs) that can be derived via the Hirota method. Second, the periodic wave solutions are explored by means of the new homoclinic approach. Finally, the other diverse wave solutions including the kink wave, singular wave and the singular periodic wave solutions are also plumbed by the sub-equation approach (SEA). The dynamic performances of the extracted solutions are presented graphically to unveil the nonlinear physical characteristics. As we know, the extracted solutions in this paper are all new and have not been investigated in other literature, which can help us make sense of the nonlinear dynamics of the new (2 + 1)-dimensional SWWE better.

Abstract:<p>A generalized Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV equation, which can describe the interactions of two long waves with different dispersion relations, is studied in this paper. Using the Hirota direct method, its bilinear form is firstly obtained, and secondly its <span class="math"><math>N</math></span>-soliton solutions are found. Finally, the collisions between two solitons are proved to be elastic via performing the asymptotic analysis. Some graphs are given to illustrate that the two-soliton collisions do not change any physical quantities except small phase shifts.</p>

Multi-soliton solutions, breather-like and bound-state solitons for a complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equation in optical fibers

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equation, which describes the propagation of short pulses in optical fibers. Bilinear forms and multi-soliton solutions are obtained through the Hirota method and symbolic computation. Breather-like and bound-state solitons are constructed in which the signs of the imaginary parts of the complex wave numbers and the initial separations of the two parallel solitons are important factors for the interaction patterns. The periodic structures and position-induced phase shift of some solutions are introduced.

Abstract:Highlights • The extended generalized (G'/G)-expansion method is used to solve the system of equations for the first time. • Soliton solutions for the generalized Hitota Satsuma Coupled KdV system is explored. • Solitary waves, mults solitons and singular kink type solition is obtained for the system. • The hyperbolic, trigonometric and rational solution is obtained for the system. The generalized Hirota–Satsuma Coupled Kortwedge–de Varies (GHSC–KdV) system is considered for investigation to study the exact solutions by using the extended generalized G′/G -expansion technique. The GHSC–KdV system describes the interaction of two long waves with different dispersion relations. The dynamical structures of the obtained solutions are solitary-type waves, multi-soliton waves, and singular–kink type waves. It contains information about the hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational function solutions for the above system. Furthermore, the derived solutions of the system that comprises arbitrary functional parameters and other constant parameters can be used to enhance the advanced behavior of physical situations.
