Abstract:Ohno's relation is a well-known family of relations among multiple zeta values, which can naturally be regarded as a type of duality for a certain power series which we call an Ohno sum. In this paper, we investigate $\mathbb{Q}$-linear relations among Ohno sums which are not contained in Ohno's relation. We prove two new families of such relations, and pose several further conjectural families of such relations.

Abstract:The Ohno relation is one of the most celebrated results in the theory of multiple zeta values, which are iterated integrals from $0$ to $1$. In a previous paper, the authors generalized the Ohno relation to regularized multiple zeta values, which are non-admissible iterated integrals from $0$ to $1$. Meanwhile, Takeyama proved an analogue of the Ohno relation for refined symmetric multiple zeta values, which are iterated integrals from $0$ to $0$. In this paper, we generalize Takeyama's result to regularized refined symmetric multiple zeta values, which are non-admissible iterated integrals from $0$ to $0$.

Abstract:We consider the problem of deducing the duality relation from the extended double shuffle relation for multiple zeta values. Especially we prove that the duality relation for double zeta values and that for the sum of multiple zeta values whose first components are 2's are deduced from the derivation relation, which is known as a subclass of the extended double shuffle relation.

Abstract:The duality relation is a basic family of linear relations for multiple zeta values. The extended double shuffle relation (EDSR) is one of the families of relations expected to generate all linear relations among multiple zeta values, but it remains unclear as to whether all duality relations can be deduced from the EDSR. In the present paper, regarding the family generated by the duality relation and the family generated by the derivation relation, an explicit characterization of their intersection is obtained. Here, the derivation relation is a specialization of the EDSR.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new connector which generalizes the connector found by the third author and Yamamoto. The new connector gives a direct proof of the double Ohno relation recently proved by the first author, the second author, Murahara, and Onozuka. Furthermore, we obtain a simultaneous generalization of the ($q$-)Ohno relation and the ($q$-)double Ohno relation.

Abstract:We introduce a new deformation of multiple zeta value (MZV). It has one parameter $\omega$ satisfying $0<\omega<2$ and recovers MZV in the limit as $\omega \to +0$. It is defined in the same algebraic framework as a $q$-analogue of multiple zeta value ($q$MZV) by using a multiple integral. We prove that our deformed multiple zeta value satisfies the double shuffle relations which are satisfied by $q$MZVs. We also prove the extended double Ohno relations, which are proved for ($q$)MZVs by Hirose, Sato and Seki, by using a multiple integral whose integrand contains the hyperbolic gamma function due to Ruijsenaars.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a formula that connects two variants of multiple zeta values; multitangent functions and symmetric multiple zeta values. As an application of this formula, we give two results. First, we prove Bouillot's conjecture on the structures of the algebra of multitangent functions. Second, we prove an analogue of the linear part of Kawashima's relation for symmetric multiple zeta values.

Abstract:In their seminal paper "Double zeta values and modular forms" Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier defined a double Eisenstein series and used it to study the relations between double zeta values. One of their key ideas is to study the formal double space and apply the double shuffle relations. They also proved the double shuffle relations for the double Eisenstein series. More recently, Kaneko and Tasaka extended the double Eisenstein series to level 2, proved its double shuffle relations and studied the double zeta values of level 2. Motivated by the above works, we define in this paper the corresponding objects at higher levels and prove that the double Eisenstein series of level N satisfies the double shuffle relations for every positive integer N. In order to obtain our main theorem we prove a key result on the multiple divisor functions of level N and then use it to solve a complicated under-determined system of linear equations by some standard techniques from linear algebra.

Mordell--Tornheim Zeta Values, Their Alternating Version, and Their Finite Analogs

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is two-fold. First, we consider the classical Mordell--Tornheim zeta values and their alternating version. It is well-known that these values can be expressed as rational linear combinations of multiple zeta values (MZVs) and the alternating MZVs, respectively. We show that, however, the spaces generated by these values over the rational numbers are in general much smaller than the MZV space and the alternating MZV space, respectively, which disproves a conjecture of Bachmann, Takeyama and Tasaka. Second, we study supercongruences of some finite sums of multiple integer variables. This kind of congruences is a variation of the so called finite multiple zeta values when the moduli are primes instead of prime powers. In general, these objects can be transformed to finite analogs of the Mordell--Tornheim sums which can be reduced to multiple harmonic sums. This approach not only simplifies the proof of a few previous results but also generalizes some of them. At the end of the paper, we also provide a conjecture supported by strong numerical evidence.

Abstract:We introduce an iterated integral version of (generalized) log-sine integrals (iterated log-sine integrals) and prove a relation between a multiple polylogarithm and iterated log-sine integrals. We also give a new method for obtaining relations among multiple zeta values, which uses iterated log-sine integrals, and give alternative proofs of several known results related to multiple zeta values and log-sine integrals.

Abstract:The functional relation of the Riemann zêta function provides us with neither the nature nor the expression of zêta at positive odd numbers. From the function $F(z)=\frac{z^{-2n}}{e^z-1}$, we find a functional relation involving $\zeta(4n- 1)$, $\zeta(2p)$ and $\zeta(4n-1-2p)$. It is given by: \begin{equation} \zeta(4n-1)=\frac{1}{2n-1}\sum_{p=1}^{2n-2}\zeta(2p)\zeta(4n-1-2p). \end{equation} $n=2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...$ From this formula we introduce a new approach to study the nature of $\zeta$ on these integers.

Abstract:This note gives some applications of the zeta distribution to number theory. First, a number of probabilistic proofs of the equality between the Riemann zeta functions and some number-theoretic functions are provided. Second, some problems of probability with respect to positive integers considered in the literature are discussed in the zeta distribution case. In contrast to usual heuristic arguments of probabilistic approach in number theory where the uniform distribution is assumed on positive integers, the proofs here are rigorous by utilizing the zeta distributions on positive integers.

Abstract:We study the behavior of $r$-fold zeta-functions of Euler-Zagier type with identical arguments $\zeta_r(s,s,\ldots,s)$ on the real line. Our basic tool is an "infinite'' version of Newton's classical identities. We carry out numerical computations, and draw graphs of $\zeta_r(s,s,\ldots,s)$ for real $s$, for several small values of $r$. Those graphs suggest various properties of $\zeta_r(s,s,\ldots,s)$, some of which we prove rigorously. When $s \in [0,1]$, we show that $\zeta_r(s,s,\ldots,s)$ has $r$ asymptotes at $\Re s=1/k$ ($1\leq k\leq r$), and determine the asymptotic behavior of $\zeta_r(s,s,\ldots,s)$ close to those asymptotes. Numerical computations establish the existence of several real zeros for $2\leq r\leq 10$ (in which only the case $r=2$ was previously known). Based on those computations, we raise a conjecture on the number of zeros for general $r$, and gives a formula for calculating the number of zeros. We also consider the behavior of $\zeta_r(s,s,\ldots,s)$ outside the interval $[0,1]$. We prove asymptotic formulas for $\zeta_r(-k,-k,\ldots,-k)$, where $k$ takes odd positive integer values and tends to $+\infty$. Moreover, on the number of real zeros of $\zeta_r(s,s,\ldots,s)$, we prove that there are exactly $(r-1)$ real zeros on the interrval $(-2n,-2(n-1))$ for any $n \geq 2$.

Abstract:Recently, the Ihara zeta function for the finite graph has been extended to infinite one by Clair and Chinta et al. In this paper, we obtain the same expressions by a different approach from their analytical method. Our new approach is to take a suitable limit of a sequence of finite graphs via the Konno–Sato theorem. This theorem is related to explicit formulas of characteristic polynomials for the evolution matrix of the Grover walk. The walk is one of the most well-investigated quantum walks which are quantum counterpart of classical random walks. We call the relation between the Grover walk and the zeta function based on the Konno–Sato theorem "Grover/Zeta Correspondence" here.
