Abstract: We construct a family of $\frac{(q-1)}{2}$-ovoids of $Q(4,q)$, the parabolic quadric of $\textup{PG}(4,q)$, for $q\equiv 3\pmod 4$. The existence of $\frac{(q-1)}{2}$-ovoids of $Q(4,q)$ was only known for $q=3, 7,$ or $11$. Our construction provides the first infinite family of $\frac{(q-1)}{2}$-ovoids of $Q(4,q)$.Along the way, we also give a construction of $\frac{q+1}{2}$-ovoids in $Q(4,q)$ for $q\equiv 1\pmod 4$.

Abstract:We study the $K$-theoretic enumerative geometry of cyclic Nakajima quiver varieties, with particular focus on $\text{Hilb}^{m}([\mathbb{C}^{2}/\mathbb{Z}_{l}])$, the equivariant Hilbert scheme of points on $\mathbb{C}^2$. The direct sum over $m$ of the equivariant $K$-theories of these varieties is known to be isomorphic to the ring symmetric functions in $l$ colors, with structure sheaves of torus fixed points identified with wreath Macdonald polynomials. Using properties of wreath Macdonald polynomials and the recent identification of the Maulik-Okounkov quantum affine algebra for cyclic quivers with the quantum toroidal algebras of type $A$, we derive an explicit formula for the generating function of capped vertex functions of $\text{Hilb}^{m}([\mathbb{C}^{2}/\mathbb{Z}_{l}])$ with descendants given by exterior powers of the $0$th tautological bundle. We also sharpen the large framing vanishing results of Okounkov, providing a class of descendants and cyclic quiver varieties for which the capped vertex functions are purely classical.

Kostka polynomials of $G(\ell,1,m)$

Abstract:For each integers $\ell > 1$ and $n \ge m \ge 1$, we prove an equivalence between the category of polynomial modules over a paraholic subalgebra $\mathfrak p$ of an affine Lie algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}(n\ell)$ and the module category of the smash product algebra $A$ of the complex reflection group $G(\ell,1,m)$ with $\mathbb C [X_1,\ldots,X_m]$. Then, we transfer the collection of $\mathfrak p$-modules considered in [Feigin-Makedonskyi-Khoroshkhin, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2311.12673" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2311.12673">arXiv:2311.12673</a>] to $A$. Applying the Lusztig-Shoji algorithm [Shoji, Invent. Math. ${\bf 74}$ (1983)] (or rather its homological variant [K. Ann. Sci. ENS ${\bf 48}$(5) (2015)]), we conclude that the multiplicity counts of these modules yield the Kostka polynomials attached to the limit symbols in the sense of [Shoji, ASPM ${\bf 40}$ (2004)]. This particularly settles a conjecture of Shoji [${\it loc. cit.}$ §3.13] and answers a question in [Shoji, Sci. China Math. ${\bf 61}$ (2018)].

Abstract:We consider Vinberg $\theta$-groups associated to a cyclic quiver on $k$ nodes. Let $K$ be the product of the general linear groups associated to each node. Then $K$ acts naturally on $\oplus \text{Hom}(V_i, V_{i+1})$ and by Vinberg's theory the polynomials are free over the invariants. We therefore consider the harmonics as a representation of $K$, and give a combinatorial formula for the stable graded multiplicity of each $K$-type. A key lemma provides a combinatorial separation of variables that allows us to cancel the invariants and obtain generalized exponents for the harmonics.

Abstract:The K-theoretic Schur P- and Q-functions and may be concretely defined as weight-generating functions for semistandard shifted set-valued tableaux. These symmetric functions are the shifted analogues of stable Grothendieck polynomials and were introduced by Ikeda and Naruse for applications in geometry. Nakagawa and Naruse specified families of dual K-theoretic Schur P- and Q-functions and via a Cauchy identity involving and . They conjectured that the dual power series are weight-generating functions for certain shifted plane partitions. We prove this conjecture. We also derive a related generating function formula for the images of and under the involution of the ring of symmetric functions. This confirms a conjecture of Chiu and the second author. Using these results, we verify a conjecture of Ikeda and Naruse that the -functions are a basis for a ring.

On some properties of symplectic Grothendieck polynomials

Abstract:Grothendieck polynomials, introduced by Lascoux and Schützenberger, are certain $K$-theory representatives for Schubert varieties. Symplectic Grothendieck polynomials, described more recently by Wyser and Yong, represent the $K$-theory classes of orbit closures for the complex symplectic group acting on the complete flag variety. We prove a transition formula for symplectic Grothendieck polynomials and study their stable limits. We show that each of the $K$-theoretic Schur $P$-functions of Ikeda and Naruse arises from a limiting procedure applied to symplectic Grothendieck polynomials representing certain "Grassmannian" orbit closures.

Abstract:When one expands a Schur function in terms of the irreducible characters of the symplectic (or orthogonal) group, the coefficient of the trivial character is 0 unless the indexing partition has an appropriate form. A number of q-analogues of this fact were conjectured in math.QA/0112035; the present paper proves most of those conjectures, as well as some new identities suggested by the proof technique. The proof involves showing that a nonsymmetric version of the relevant integral is annihilated by a suitable ideal of the affine Hecke algebra, and that any such annihilated functional satisfies the desired vanishing property. This does not, however, give rise to vanishing identities for the standard nonsymmetric Macdonald and Koornwinder polynomials; we discuss the required modification to these polynomials to support such results.

Abstract:We define a family of quiver representation-valued invariants of oriented classical and virtual knots and links associated to a choice of finite quandle $X$, abelian group $A$, set of quandle 2-cocycles $C\subset H^2_Q(x;A)$, choice of coefficient ring $k$ and set of quandle endomorphisms $S\subset \mathrm{Hom}(X,X)$. From this representation we define four new polynomial (or ``polynomial'' depending on $A$) invariants. We generalize to the case of biquandles and compute some examples.

Abstract:We propose a generalized version of knots-quivers correspondence, where the quiver series variables specialize to arbitrary powers of the knot HOMFLY-PT polynomial series variable. We explicitely compute quivers for large classes of knots, as well as many homologically thick 9- and 10-crossings knots, including the ones with the super-exponential growth property of colored HOMFLY-PT polyomials. In addition, we propose a new, compact, quiver-like form for the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials, where the structure of colored differentials is manifest. In particular, this form partially explains the non-uniqueness of quivers corresponding to a given knot via knots-quivers correspondence.

Pullback formulas for arithmetic cycles on orthogonal Shimura varieties

Abstract:On an orthogonal Shimura variety, one has a collection of special cycles in the Gillet-Soule arithmetic Chow group. We describe how these cycles behave under pullback to an embedded orthogonal Shimura variety of lower dimension. The bulk of the paper is devoted to cases in which the special cycles intersect the embedded Shimura variety improperly, for which we construct logarithmic expansions of certain Green currents on the deformation to the normal bundle of the embedding.

Abstract:It is known that the moduli space of plane quartic curves is birational to an arithmetic quotient of a 6-dimensional complex ball. In this paper, we shall show that there exists a 15-dimensional space of meromorphic automorphic forms on the complex ball which gives a birational embedding of the moduli space of plane quartics with level 2 structure into 14-dimensional projective space. This map coincides with the one given by Coble by using Gopel invariants.

Abstract:We study the $Q$-Kostka polynomials $L_{\lambda\mu}(t)$ by the vertex operator realization of the $Q$-Hall-Littlewood functions $G_{\lambda}(x;t)$ and derive new formulae for $L_{\lambda\mu}(t)$. In particular, we have established stability property for the Q-Kostka polynomials. We also introduce spin Green polynomials $Y^{\lambda}_{\mu}(t)$ as both an analogue of the Green polynomials and deformation of the spin irreducible characters of $\mathfrak S_n$. Iterative formulas of the spin Green polynomials are given and some favorable properties parallel to the Green polynomials are obtained. Tables of $Y^{\lambda}_{\mu}(t)$ are included for $n\leq7.$

Quantum $K$-invariants via Quot schemes II

Abstract:We derive a $K$-theoretic analogue of the Vafa--Intriligator formula, computing the (virtual) Euler characteristics of vector bundles over the Quot scheme that compactifies the space of degree $d$ morphisms from a fixed projective curve to the Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}(r,N)$. As an application, we deduce interesting vanishing results, used in Part I (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2406.12191" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.12191">arXiv:2406.12191</a>) to study the quantum $K$-ring of $\mathrm{Gr}(r,N)$. In the genus-zero case, we prove a simplified formula involving Schur functions, consistent with the Borel-Weil-Bott theorem in the degree-zero setting. These new formulas offer a novel approach for computing the structure constants of quantum $K$-products.

Abstract:We study $K$-theoretic integrals over famed quiver moduli via wall-crossing phenomena. We study the chainsaw quiver varieties, and consider generating functions defined by two types of $K$-theoretic classes. In particular, we focus on integrals over the handsaw quiver varieties of type $A_{1}$, and get functional equations for each of them. We also give explicit formula for these partition functions. In particular, we obtain geometric interpretation of transformation formulas for multiple basic hypergeometric series including the Kajihara transformation formula, and the one studied by Langer-Schlosser-Warnaar and Hallnäs-Langman-Noumi-Rosengren.

Cohomological Hall algebras of quivers and Yangians

Abstract:We construct an isomorphism between the preprojective cohomological Hall algebra of an arbitrary quiver and a positive half of the corresponding Maulik-Okounkov Yangian, which intertwines the respective actions on the cohomology of the Nakajima quiver varieties. We use this to prove a conjecture of Okounkov relating the character of the Maulik-Okounkov Lie algebra to Kac polynomials.

Abstract:We employ general parabolic recursion methods to demonstrate the recently devised hypercube formula for Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials of $S_n$, and establish its generalization to the full setting of a finite Coxeter system through algebraic proof. We introduce procedures for positive decompositions of $q$-derived Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials within this setting, that utilize classical Hecke algebra positivity phenomena of Dyer-Lehrer and Grojnowski-Haiman. This leads to a distinct algorithmic approach to the subject, based on induction from a parabolic subgroup. We propose suitable weak variants of the combinatorial invariance conjecture and verify their validity for permutation groups.

Abstract:We establish a link between open positroid varieties in the Grassmannians $G(k,n)$ and certain moduli spaces of complexes of vector bundles over Kodaira cycle $C^n$, using the shifted Poisson structure on the latter moduli spaces and relating them to the standard Poisson structure on $G(k,n)$. This link allows us to solve a classification problem for extensions of vector bundles over $C^n$. Based on this solution we further classify the symplectic leaves of all positroid varieties in $G(k,n)$ with respect to the standard Poisson structure. Moreover, we get an explicit description of the moduli stack of symplectic leaves of $G(k,n)$ with the standard Poisson structure as an open substack of the stack of vector bundles on $C^n$.
