Abstract:Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic and nonspecific inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract, encompassing ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn disease (CD). The etiology of IBD is unknown and may involve factors such as chronic inflammation, genetic predisposition, infections, among others. Moreover, the incidence and prevalence of IBD have been steadily increasing. Research indicates that IBD is associated with an elevated risk of extraintestinal malignancies, including cholangiocarcinoma, lymphoma, and skin cancer. [ 1 ]
