Abstract:• Diagnosis of alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) often occurs at an advanced stage, with over half exhibiting steatohepatitis or cirrhosis at liver biopsy. Moreover, at the time of liver cirrhosis diagnosis, more than 75% of patients present with liver-related complications. • There is a crucial need to improve early detection of ALD, as notably the survival benefit of alcohol abstinence and medical interventions wanes in more advanced stages.
