What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper aims to address the challenges faced by flexible and stretchable polymer elastomers in practical applications, particularly in the fields of wearable electronic devices, electronic skin, robotics, and human-machine interfaces. Specifically, the research goal is to develop a new elastomer material with high stretchability, mechanical strength, good tear resistance and adhesion properties, as well as self-healing capability. Researchers have prepared a novel elastomer with excellent performance by physically mixing bromobutyl rubber (BIIR) and terpene resin (PaP). This elastomer not only exhibits outstanding mechanical properties (tensile strength reaching 11.5 MPa) but also possesses good self-healing ability, tear resistance, and adhesion properties. Additionally, strain sensors made from this elastomer can monitor human motion, demonstrating its potential application value in the field of wearable electronic devices. Therefore, this study provides a simple and effective method for designing polymer elastomers suitable for electronic devices.
