Abstract:KEYWORDS: Cancer is known to be a powerful risk factor for Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), but this risk varies depending on the primary cancer site [ Citation 1 ]. For example, the relative risk for VTE varies between 2.87 for breast cancer to 15.56 for pancreatic cancer, while the relative risk was 7.24 for lung cancer, compared to patients without cancer [ Citation 2 ]. As a result, the combination of this increased risk of VTE with a high frequency of lung cancer in the general population explains why lung cancer has gradually become the leading cause of cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) [ Citation 3 ].
