Abstract:• Muscle weakness and myalgias are common concerns in primary care and can be due to multiple underlying causes. • Myopathies can be hereditary or acquired, and, often, diagnosis lies in a thorough clinical history and examination. • Proximal arm and leg weakness is the most common presentation for myopathy and can be due to toxic, endocrine, infectious, autoimmune/inflammatory, and hereditary myopathies.
