Abstract:Owing to the remarkable success of the hypergeometric functions of one variable, the authors present a study of some families of hypergeometric functions of two or more variables. These functions include (for example) the Kampé de Fériet-type hypergeometric functions in two variables and Srivastava's general hypergeometric function in three variables. The main aim of this paper is to provide several (presumably new) transformation and summation formulas for appropriately specified members of each of these families of hypergeometric functions in two and three variables. The methodology and techniques, which are used in this paper, are based upon the evaluation of some definite integrals involving logarithmic functions in terms of Riemann's zeta function, Catalan's constant, polylogarithm functions, and so on.

Abstract:In this paper, we study effective recursion formulae for computing intersection numbers of mixed psi and kappa classes on moduli spaces of curves. By using the celebrated Witten-Kontsevich theorem, we generalize Mulase-Safnuk form of Mirzakhani's recursion and prove a recursion formula of higher Weil-Petersson volumes. We also present recursion formulae to compute intersection pairings in the tautological rings of moduli spaces of curves.

Abstract:We establish the asymptotic expansion of certain integrals of [Formula: see text] classes on moduli spaces of curves [Formula: see text], when either the [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] goes to infinity. Our main tools are cut-join type recursion formulae from the Witten–Kontsevich theorem, as well as asymptotics of solutions to the first Painlevé equation. We also raise a conjecture on large genus asymptotics for [Formula: see text]-point functions of [Formula: see text] classes and partially verify the positivity of coefficients in generalized Mirzakhani’s formula of higher Weil–Petersson volumes.

Abstract:When studying the properties of the hypergeometric functions in two variables, expansion formulas are very important, allowing one to represent a function of two variables in the form of an infinite sum of products of several hypergeometric Gaussian functions, and this in turn facilitates the process of studying the properties of functions in two variables. Burchnall and Chaundy, in 1940--41, using the symbolic method, obtained more than 15 pairs of expansions for the second-order double hypergeometric Appell and Humbert functions. In order to find expansion formulas for functions depending on three or more variables, Hasanov and Srivastava introduced symbolic operators, with the help of which they were able to expand a whole class of hypergeometric functions of several variables. Hasanov, Turaev and Choi defined so-called H-operators that make it possible to find expansions for generalized hypergeometric functions of one variable. In addition, applications of these H-operators to the expansion of the hypergeometric functions of two and three variables of second order are known. On the other hand, thanks to the Kampe de Feriet functions, solutions of the boundary value problems for some degenerate and singular partial differential equations can be written in explicit forms. In this paper, expansion formulae are obtained for the hypergeometric Kampe de Feriet functions of the superior order. Some Kampe de Feriet functions are expanded in terms of the Appell and Humbert functions as illustrative examples

Abstract:The paper proposes to introduce incomplete Srivastava's triple hypergeometric matrix functions through application of the incomplete Pochhammer matrix symbols. We also derive certain properties such as matrix differential equation, integral formula, reduction formula, recursion formula, recurrence relation and differentiation formula of the incomplete Srivastava's triple hypergeometric matrix functions.

Abstract:We give a definition of generalized hypergeometric functions over finite fields using modified Gauss sums, which enables us to find clear analogy with classical hypergeometric functions over the complex numbers. We study their fundamental properties and prove summation formulas, transformation formulas and product formulas. An application to zeta functions of K3-surfaces is given. In the appendix, we give an elementary proof of the Davenport-Hasse multiplication formula for Gauss sums.

Abstract:The primary goal of this paper is to introduce and investigate generalized incomplete exponential functions with matrix parameters. Integral representation, differential formula, addition formula, multiplication formula, and recurrence relation obtained here are believed to be new in the theory of special matrix functions. We also establish the connection between these matrix functions and other matrix functions, such as the incomplete gamma matrix function, the Bessel and modified Bessel matrix functions.

Abstract:Inspired by certain interesting recent extensions of the gamma, beta and hypergeometric matrix functions, we introduce here new extension of the gamma and beta matrix function. We also introduce new extensions of the Gauss hypergeometric matrix function, confluent hypergeometric matrix function, Appell matrix function and Lauricella matrix function of three variables in terms of the new extended beta matrix function. Then we investigate certain properties of these extended matrix functions such as the integral representations, differential formulae and recurrence relations.
On two-term hypergeometric recursions with free lower parameters

Abstract:Let $F(n,k)$ be a hypergeometric function that may be expressed so that $n$ appears within initial arguments of inverted Pochhammer symbols, as in factors of the form $\frac{1}{(n)_{k}}$. Only in exceptional cases is $F(n, k)$ such that Zeilberger's algorithm produces a two-term recursion for $\sum_{k = 0}^{\infty} F(n, k)$ obtained via the telescoping of the right-hand side of a difference equation of the form $p_{1}(n) F(n + r, k) + p_{2}(n) F(n, k) = G(n, k+1) - G(n, k)$ for fixed $r \in \mathbb{N}$ and polynomials $p_{1}$ and $p_{2}$. Building on the work of Wilf, we apply a series acceleration technique based on two-term hypergeometric recursions derived via Zeilberger's algorithm. Fast converging series previously given by Ramanujan, Guillera, Chu and Zhang, Chu, Lupaş, and Amdeberhan are special cases of hypergeometric transforms introduced in our article.

Abstract:Lehmer constructs four classes of matrices constructed from roots of unity for which the characteristic polynomials and the $k$-th powers can be determined explicitly. Here we study a class of matrices which arise naturally in transformation formulas of finite field hypergeometric functions and whose entries are roots of unity and zeroes. We determine the characteristic polynomial, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, and $k$-th powers of these matrices. In particular, the eigenvalues are natural systems of products of Jacobi sums.

Abstract:In the theory of hypergeometric series and generalized hypergeometric series, classical summation theorems, such as the two of Gauss and those of Kummer and Bailey for the series 2F1; those of Watson, Dixon, Whipple, and Saalschutz for the series 3F2; and others, play a key role. Applications of these classical summation theorems are well known. Berndt pointed out that a large number of interesting summations (including Ramanujan's summations and the Gregory–Leibniz pi summation) can be obtained very quickly by employing the above-mentioned classical summation theorems. Also, several interesting results involving products of generalized hypergeometric series have been obtained by Bailey by employing the above-mentioned classical summation theorems. Recently, the above-mentioned classical summation theorems have been generalized and extended. In our present investigations, our aim is to demonstrate the applications of the extended Kummer's summation theorem in establishing (i) extensions of Gauss's second summation theorem and Bailey's summation theorem; (ii) extensions of several summations (including Ramanujan's summations); (iii) extensions of several results involving products of generalized hypergeometric series; and (iv) an extension of classical Dixon's summation theorem. As special cases, we recover several known summations (including several Ramanujan summations and the Gregory–Leibniz pi summation) and various results involving products of generalized hypergeometric series due to Bailey.

Abstract:In a prior paper we found that the Fourier-Legendre series of a Bessel function of the first kind J_{N}\left(kx\right) and of a modified Bessel functions of the first kind I_{N}\left(kx\right) lead to an infinite set of series involving \,_{1}F_{2} hypergeometric functions (extracted therefrom) that could be summed, having values that are inverse powers of the eight primes 1/\left(2^{i}3^{j}5^{k}7^{l}11^{m}13^{n}17^{o}19^{p}\right) multiplying powers of the coefficient k, for the first 22 terms in each series. The present paper shows how to generate additional, doubly infinite summed series involving \,_{1}F_{2} hypergeometric functions from Chebyshev polynomial expansions of Bessel functions, and trebly infinite sets of summed series involving \,_{1}F_{2} hypergeometric functions from Gegenbauer polynomial expansions of Bessel functions.

Abstract:The main objective of this paper is to show how one can obtain eleven new and interesting hypergeometric identities in the form of a single result from the old ones by mainly employing the known beta integral method which was recently introduced and used in a systematic manner by Krattenthaler and Rao [6]. The results are derived with the help of a generalization of a well-known hypergeometric transformation formula due to Kummer.
