Abstract:This study investigates the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process of SiO₂/AlSi10Mg composite material, focusing on the effects of AlSi10Mg powder addition on the laser melting of quartz glass. Composite and pure quartz powders were compared under LPBF conditions to evaluate the impact of varying AlSi10Mg weight percentages on the process. Results indicate that adding AlSi10Mg significantly enhances laser absorption and thermal conductivity, leading to improved melting of the quartz glass. With increasing AlSi10Mg content, bonding quality between the printed structure and the stainless steel substrate improves, though higher percentages (e.g., 12 wt%) introduce metal ball formation, which affects material uniformity. Optimal bonding and material distribution were achieved at 6 wt% AlSi10Mg. Additionally, the study examines the effects of different laser scanning strategies on LPBF outcomes, including surface morphology, density, and internal defects. These findings provide insights into optimizing LPBF parameters for composite materials, advancing the use of LPBF in fabricating glass-based composite structures.
