Abstract:As the urbanization process accelerates, the urban thermal environment issue has attracted increasing attention. Reasonable urban form planning is an important way to improve the urban thermal environment. This study summarizes four important urban form elements that affect the urban thermal environment, including urban morphological characteristics, landscape pattern indices, underlying surface structures, and distances to cold and heat sources. Multiple models were used to predict Surface Urban Heat Island Intensity (SUHII), with urban spatial indicators serving as independent variables. This study explored the influence of urban spatial indicators on the formation mechanism of SUHII. The results show that: 1) Local models are more suitable for studying urban thermal environments compared to global models, and the Multi-scale Geographically weighted regression (MGWR) model demonstrates superior predictive performance. 2) Different factors have obvious spatial heterogeneity in their effects on SUHII of Xi'an. Building density (BD) and roughness (ROU) show a strong nonstationary effect on SUHII. 3) Different factors contribute differently to the prediction of SUHII, with building height (BH) being particularly influential. This study offers valuable insights for formulating heat reduction strategies and urban renewal measures.
