Abstract:With the current trends of energy conservation and carbon neutrality, it is critical to investigate building energy use, which accounts for one-third of world energy use. Urban heat islands (UHIs) have been a hot topic in recent years, and the energy use features of buildings have a significant impact on reducing urban energy consumption. However, in energy use, due to the diversity in function, quantity, environment and urban form, UHIs have unclear and meaningful heterogeneity, especially in heat aggregation area (HAA) which is more severely affected by UHIs and reference to deteriorating UHIs. This paper selected Nanjing as a case study, situated in a climate zone with hot summers and cold winters. First, the remote sensing imagery was inverted to obtain the urban surface temperature distribution, which was reclassified with the nature break method to obtain the HAA in which the buildings were molded in Rhino. The Urban Weather Generator was used to obtain the corresponding weather file of the urban environment, and the Urban Modeling Interface (UMI) was used to simulate building energy use. Finally, the site cooling energy use intensity (SCEUI) and site heating energy use intensity (SHEUI) were compared to analyze the heterogeneity. It was found that various HAAs had distinct SCEUIs (18.9 - 23.9 kWh/m(2)) and SHEUIs (8.1 - 20.4 kWh/m(2)). The SCEUI had a positive correlation with commercial floor area proportion (CFAP) but a negative correlation with residential floor area proportion (RFAP), and the SHEUI had a positive correlation with RFAP.
