Abstract:Nonmetallic atom doping and the construction of semiconductor heterostructures are important ways to elevate the hydrogen evolution ability of photocatalyst. Non-metallic atom B is more electronegative, so it can enrich plentiful electrons for the catalyst hydrogen-producing reaction. In this work, a composite catalyst B/CoMoO4 was prepared by doping B powder in the process of in-situ hydrothermal synthesis of CoMoO4. The doping of nonmetallic B increases the specific surface area of the catalyst and narges the band gap of the catalyst. Abundant reactive sites and relatively small electron shift resistance promote the photocatalytic hydrogen-producing. On account of the electron transfer of non-metal B and CoMoO4 at the contact interface, the electron shift rate is optimized, and the catalyst surface shows a strong oxidation-reduction ability. The consequences of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution test demonstrate that the hydrogen-producing rate of B/CoMoO4 reaches 7460 μmol·g−1·h−1, which is 4.2 times of the hydrogen evolution rate of the catalyst CoMoO4, and has good stability. In addition, DFT calculation was used to analyze the distribution of valence band and conduction band tracks and the band gap. In conclusion, this work provides some theoretical support for enhancing the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution ability of catalysts by doping nonmetallic atoms or constructing heterojunctions, and provides a feasible idea for the industrial application of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.
