Abstract:Appropriate air temperature (T), water and fertilizer dosage are the inevitable requirements for good and high yields of greenhouse crops, and plants grown in different environments need appropriate water and fertilizer coupling programs. Calcium ion (Ca2+) is essential for plant growth, which could enhance plant stress resistance. However, uptake and translocation of Ca2+ ions in plants is a function of cultivation substrate moisture (M) as well as the T. Hence, their interaction can significantly influence cucumber growth, yield and quality. In order to determine the optimal M and Ca2+ application (F) to promote the integrated growth of cucumber under global climate change in the future, we explored the comprehensive effects of T, M, and F on the growth, yield, fruit quality, water and fertilizer use efficiency of cucumber. A five-level quadratic orthogonal rotation combination design with three experimental factors (T, M, and F) was applied for 23 coupling treatments over three growing seasons during spring (2021S) and fall (2021F and 2022S). Experimental results from three growing seasons showed that the effect of the three factors on the integrated growth of cucumber in descending order was T, M and F. T-M and T-F interactions had greater effects on cucumber comprehensive growth than M-F interactions. It is inferred that when T ranges were 18.0/8.0–21.65/11.65, 21.65/11.65–27.0/17.0, 27.0/17.0–32.35/22.35, and 32.35/22.35–36.0/26.0 (day/night, °C), the corresponding M and F intervals were 63
