Abstract:The scattering of acoustic waves by vortex is a basic problem in the propagation of acoustic waves in complex flow fields, and is of great significance to the underwater target detection. This paper uses the discontinuous Galerkin numerical method to solve the acoustic wave equations of the moving medium, and numerically simulates the underwater acoustic scattering and spectral broadening effects by uniform moving vortex. The space and time- frequency characteristics of the scattered acoustic field are analyzed. The influence of wavelength scale ratio and vortex intensity on the scattered acoustic field are studied. The results show that vortex can produce spatial scattering of acoustic waves. The scattered acoustic field has two obvious scattering beams. The forward scattering is much stronger than the backward scattering. Due to the relative moving of the vortex, the spatial scattering changes with time, resulting in Doppler frequency shift. The spectral of the scattered acoustic wave broadens in the frequency domain, and continuous sidebands with a certain bandwidth appear on both sides of the incident acoustic frequency. As the wavelength scale ratio decreases, the main beam of the scattering directivity gradually becomes sharper, and the azimuth angle of the main beam gradually approaches the propagation direction of the incident acoustic wave. The scattered acoustic wave is significantly enhanced, and the spectral shift increases, resulting in an increase in the bandwidth of the broadened sidebands in the spectral. As the vortex intensity increases, the scattered acoustic waves are significantly enhanced, but the spatial distribution and time-frequency waveform of the scattered acoustic waves remain basically unchanged.
